When we went for it the first time, it was full so we'd eaten at the next door - we seated at aluminium table next to other people, they brought us tea and mechoui lamb and it was delicious. So next day we went for it again and this time seated in The place (the one that has Gordon Ramsey photo and all the fame). And to our disappointment the lamb was dry and not as good. So my advise - don't go to the door with famous people photos, go to the one next to it (on the left when facing it in our case, but there are others). You'll get the same attention, more authentic environment and better food with better (tiny bit) price.

The lamb was very tender, flavourful and well cooked. The skin was deliciously crispy, the cumin was a great compliment to the lamb. The vegetable tajin, was disappointing, no flavour whatsoever. Definitely must eat here if you’re visiting Marrakech.

Meat lovers paradise! Be there at noon to get the mechoui right out of the oven. Sprinkle the cumin and salt mixture on the meat and dip every bite of the meat in it too. Definitely eat with your hands. Combine a small chunk of meat with a small chunk of bread. This is also the place to eat tangia. These guys really know how to cook meat. Don't forget to tip for the awesome quality.

Can’t be more local Moroccan than that! If you are clean freak, I recommend you to stay away from these place but it is very local, food are nice. Just look around the people and tell them what you want as they do not speak English much. So more of gesture and we just kept finger cross we getting what think we ordered. But that’s part of fun to have some surprises.

Slow cooked meat that just comes off the bones. We got a portion each for 2 people and it was too much. There is a lot of fat and "other parts" that was bit off putting. The skin was crispy and delicious with some bread was very nice but not amazing. We didnt waste any however as we gave away to a local family who were sitting next to us. The place is small but has a table behind the counter with enough seats for six adults.

We had the Mechoui and it was amazing. We’ve ordered 1kg for 4 people, 2 fries and 2 salads and quite frankly was more than enough (maybe a little bit much). It was tender and delicious. Make sure you order some salt as well!

Very nice place with delicious lamb cooked in a underground oven until it melts in the mouth. Be prepared to share the only table with strangers - locals or tourists. The shop owners were happy to let us take pictures of down the hatch of the unique oven.

Loved this place for the roast lamb (mechoui). At the time of this post, mechoui for four cost 185 dirhams. We are it as 2 people and was quite a lot, keeping in mind we did not eat any of the bread given. We also ordered the salad and mint tea which were both very good. There's a few shops on the street which all serve lamb. The one we went to has a great rooftop terrace. The others had indoor seating. Staff understands English and French. When finished, you pay at the entrance, make sure you get your waiter to cash you out.

It’s okay for a quick snack, but we would not come back. Mechoui is right next door to the famous Chez Lamine, both offer the traditional lamb from the stone oven - although the queue is significantly longer next door. The restaurant is very basic and hygiene is rudimentary (no soap to wash hands, table was just cleaned with bare hands instead of a cloth, …), so was the service (we didn’t even get anything to drink). The food itself was also a little disappointing as the meat is pretty dry and is a little chewy.

We came to this area for lunch and boy this is one of the best meals we had in Morocco! The lamb was very tender and flavourful. We ordered 1kg for 3 ppl (for $200 Durham) and we were so full by the end of the meal! Highly recommended!

This is the real deal and honestly one of the best meals we had in Morocco. Small menu- just meat, bread and tea. Couldn't give it a 5 star because it needs side dishes and meat could use seasoning. Closed Fridays!!! Opens at 12, but be there 11:30ish to see the entire experience

We ordered 1kg of méchoui (lamb shoulder) for three. And we were full! Super juicy, fall off the bones, goodness! Is it greasy, yes. Buy you can take the excess grease off. Definitely dip the morsels in the cumin salt mixture. You’ll need a digestive or a nap afterwards. We worry about lamb being too gamey (زنخ), this was not. Arrive early and enjoy the meal! worth a visit.

We were a bit disappointed with this place. A bit rough around the edges. Lamb was ok but nothing special. They show the film if Gordon Ramsay eating there but guess he tasted a different dish,??

👍👍 Stopped in for a spot of lunch to escape the souks, ended up coming back another day because of how good it was! You have to try the spiced coffee, not sure what's in it but boy is it good.
