We enjoyed our vegetarian lunch and our puppy was sitting outside the restaurant while eating. It is a busy place. This restaurant is a non-profit organization, mainly run by volunteers. Customers only need to pay according to their own ability. All they have done is very admirable. The food is simple but delicious. There are three options on the menu: lentil soup, pasta, sweet potatoes and rice. We have tried all three, and we like to eat spaghetti. The sauce tasted light and tender. The staff is very friendly.

This is a gem of a place in Sydney! A great initiative of pay as much as you want. The volunteers were very friendly and polite. There are big tables and we should be prepared to share our tables with other people around. Just not go for a meal but also provide your volunteer services if you wish to.

Food - 2/2 Ambience - 1/1 Vegan and Vegetarian options - 1/1 Service - 1/1 I love the concept of this restaurant. You can eat whatever is available on the menu and you can pay as much as you want. I would recommend every customer to pay $10 at least, if they can afford it. The food is brilliant, I’ve never had a disappointing experience. I would suggest to eat an early lunch and dinner for the best seats and best customer experience. You can find their daily menu available on @menulentilnewtown on Instagram. Every thing you see in this restaurant has been donated, it’s run by volunteers and is a 100% vegan. Now that’s how you give back to the planet!

Great place to eat buzzing with atmosphere when we arrived staff where really friendly and helpful and food was delicious and really good portions and flavour we all had green curry and banana cake . You can choose to sit in our outdoor but outdoor is heaps quieter for holding a conversation. You have options of pay by cash or pay by card both private. Would recommend stopping by for a meal, all vegetarian style dishes

As a vego I think this is a great thing and it's nice to see it flourishing too. It was actually the most busy restaursnt at the time when I dined in. It would be great if more restaurants took on this idea. The food is good but the best thing was the volunteers they were so happy and accommodating towards customers. Will come back just cus it was such a pleasing experience.

Its one of the best places to experience vegan food. They have roughly 3 different vegan dishes on the menu daily along with a dessert. The restaurant runs entirely on the volunteer basis from the kitchen staff to floor staff. The food is not priced and instead the person can donate money based on what he thinks should be best. The staff is lovely and adorable. It is at an easy walk from the Newtown station, on the King Street

Live music! Awesome atmosphere! Friendly and attentive service! Sumptuous food! There were four of us and we ordered the four dishes offered on Easter Monday. Coupled with the spiced chai tea it was an excellent meal. Thumbs up!

Amazing dining experience! Very friendly and lovable volunteers ans in-house staff. Loved the whole concept of pay as you want and you can also pay extra which goes to support the local community. Food was very good, packed with flavours and big portions! Loved the little poppy seed cake too! Will be back!

One of my favourite places in the whole city! I try to come there whenever I can and I always leave with a smile, full stomach and a sense of peace and joy. I've met many wonderful friends through their events (before COVID) which are now an important part in my life. The food is always different, delicious and healthy.

Absolutely fantastic food from these absolutely fantastic group of volunteers! Their passion and drive for serving the community and bettering it through healthy, fresh, and affordable food options is ever evident. Will always be a regular place for me to eat and now that they offer uber eats and pay what you choose delivery my ordering from them will sky rocket! if you're near by please stop by for a feed!

I go to Lentils as much as I can. Best place in Newtown. Runned by volunteers, you can pay as you can/want. The food is vegan and delicious. Always big portions. So much variety all the times. Best chai drink ever. The atmosphere is so friendly, I just love to sit at the table with strangers that eventually will share with you their story. Or just sit with my friends and enjoy the love music. We need more places like this please!!

The culture in this place is so toxic. The food is alright and I like the pay what you feel system. At first it appears friendly; a conversation with the patron next over is inevitable. After a couple visits one will discover that many patrons are only there for a free meal, even if they can afford to pay. Other patrons will tokenize your identity to support something they already believe. Other patrons will chew your ear off about conspiracy theories regarding vaccines, 5G, and Rothschild banks. Avoid this place.

The concept is amazing. Everyone's welcomed with open arms; from eating outside with the rough sleeping folks and their pets to tables of friends and uni students eating inside. Nourish your tummy and soul. We came in support of the concept, having travelled from Canberra, and donated $75 for our two meals and dessert. That's not to brag - at this place, the ethos is simple and forward looking. Pay what you can, give generously of self and service, and always be kind. We were the beneficiaries of much kindness as young students and we wanted to pay it forward now that we can. Namaste 🙏

Great place for vegan food. Aside from the great thing this restaurant is doing for the local community (it offers low price - sometimes free meals) the food is very tasty too.

I am always here cos I love the food and simplicity I making the food. It's all different everyday and that's something I really enjoy and purely by donation 🙏I'd recommend this place to anyone who is along Newtown to pop in and try this amazing food they prepare 🥰The deserts are something to die for especially the sauces they pour through their cakes 🤪

Love the staff, love the food. They've got amazing events happening and it's a great place to meet people as you get seated next to strangers :) it's not "pay what you want", it's pay what you can afford - such a great initiative. Be vegan!

What a great place that is such a welcome change to the service in many places in Sydney that is take it or leave it. The food was fresh and tasty. There were four choices the day we visited. They suggest paying $15 of you have a dish dessert and a tea... Which is again very reasonable and $20 if you want to pay it forward.

Food is really great and it does have a lovely atmosphere! Only rating it 3 stars for two reasons: 1) It gets heavily crowded and it's difficult to grab a seat considering how busy it gets. 2) Some of the staff can be really rude and demand that we sit with complete strangers. I don't like being forced to sit where I don't want to be.

Great concept but a lot of people take advantage of this place which really upsets me They Gove so much love and care into their meals but most people don't pay anything. Very upsetting when we pay the $20 they recommend and a group of girls dressed to the nines snicker that they don't have to pay anything and walk pout!!!

Such an awesome initiative, with a pay-as-much-as-you-can restaurant, the food was super-duper-tasty & there's a rotational menu, so it changes as you go there on a daily basis, which is also amazing! The service is always top notch & just such a good vibe in general, 10/10 :D

This is the best eatery in Australia where you pay as you like and best vegan food is served from 1AM to 3AM and 5M to 9 m, 365 days with every day every shift changed menu of atleast 4 meals items and two desserts. Ofcourse Masala Tea fruits cofee is there too. You can eat, get acked or order through Uber Eats. While no body take any note what you drop in box or pay by your card, they expect AUD 15 er meals to cover u cost. The idea is just free food to needy and entertain those too who want no free food and always believe in paying. The best part is that whole of the staff in kitchen to restorant service and front office, all is being maintained by volunteers. And you will find plenty of nobel souls dedicated to volunteer for hours a day, 365 days.

An icon in the community that is as popular as it is socially conscious! Known for its honour payment/donations system, Lentil As Anything has consistently served up hearty and vegetarian meals since it's inception actively supporting the most fundamental of all human needs, regardless of means, a delicious and nutritious meal. I'm always impressed by the regular changes in menu which is one of the things I look forward to each visit. May they always receive the support they deserve by patrons both loyal and new!

One of the best vegetarian places I've ever had in Sydney! The menu rotates daily and the crews are super friendly. Lentil As Anything also accepts food ingredients donation, so you may want to bring some for your next visit!

Wonderful food that tastes like home! Had the North Indian thali which was delicious! And all towards a good cause too. The break even price is $15-20 which is quite reasonable considering the taste and quantity. Highly recommended.

Cheers up! I'm not a vegan but giving the free experience into this restaurant make me think about it! The place is awesome, not because is free, even should be great if you can make a donation as a volunteer (waiter, waitress and of course chef!!). I've been there twice and can't complain of food, service or taste which I supposed that its gonna be different thinking about all my life being not vengan😎😍 .. great job guys! Hope soon can be a volunteer there and if you are like me .. very hungry all the time, the chef will be so happy give to you the second portion! My favourite dessert also is the coconut pudding .. is a hit!

What a brilliant concept. You pay for what you feel the meal is worth and can donate extra to support the community. We had the most amazing vegetarian/vegan meals and was blown away. Absolutely packed with flavour. Absolutely worth reaching into your pocket for.

Food is always filling and delicious and the menu changes daily. When I say filling, I really mean filling. Their serving sizes are large and they're happy to put your leftovers in a container if you bring one. Their space where they have yoga ect. isn't accessible as it up a flight of stairs however where the food is served is and the staff are happy to help accommodate my wheelchair. All vegan which is a huge tick in my book. It's pay what you can which I really appreciate, I always try my best to pay it forward. Great idea and great restaurant!

You have to try this place at least once (and if you do you'll probably want to come back). They also accept volunteers so just chat to one of the staff if you feel like doing something for the community. They serve healthy vegan food and it makes me feel connected every time I go there. How it works: each person select one of 3 main dishes, sometimes there is one of two deserts to choose from other times there is just one desert. The serve a hot drink with the meals and you can buy coffee from the barista. At the end of the meal you pay the amount that you feel happy with. Just drop the cash in the box at the door.

👍 Best restaurant for South Indian dishes. Worth a try of Biryani. Tried Tandoori Soya today and it was the best I ever had here. Egg65 Biryani was so tasty. Crispy Baby corn was bad seemed like it was not fresh. You should not let your standards drop.
