Been to many shows in similar sized venues and never had the band you paid to see, play for 1 hr, then take a break for an hour before taking the stage again (could have been more than 1hr, as we left). Genuinely bummed because I was really looking forward to celebrating my 30th birthday dancing to reggae at this show. We arrived about 50 mins after the band started (9:50pm), caught 1.5 songs, waited and waited 1 hr for the band to return, by that point we just left. My partner was tired, I was getting tired and had no idea when the band would start playing again, so we called it a night. I guess my bad for arriving fashionably late. Maybe stating on the tickets that the performance will be broken up with long breaks inbetween would be nice. At least it gives people the opportunity to plan and not have a disappointing 30th :/ *video is of the 0.5/1.5 songs we caught :'( such a shame because the band sounded great

We were lucky to find this funky venue on our google search for a place for us to elope. Warmly welcomed on out initial phone call and invited to come and have a look around, we were delighted with the decor and the easy and relaxed atmosphere. As you can see we were married at Lazybones and we can not recommend this venue enough. The great photo opportunities, delicious food, friendly people and delightful cocktails....not to mention the .music...Our elopement was private and yet a whole lot of fun

This is a very cool bar. I completely did not expect a place like this situated in Marrickville. It's funky, has grovey feel to it and yeah, you can chill out here too. It's got a cool vibe to it...plus you can stare at the walls half the night as there's stuff everywhere to look at. Service at the bar is good. You barely have to wait to order your drink and the greeting is very friendly. They have live bands playing, which was cool....So yeah, definitely will go again. Well done !!!

What a great night, the atmosphere and the people were outstanding, made for a better night. Yes, they had breaks in-between sets as most bands do, gave you a chance for a toilet or bar run. Band happy to chat to you as well during those breaks, as they mingling with the crowd. Recommend to go if your into that type of quality music. Good Kebab shop just around the corner as well.

The first experience was the overly rude female who “greeted” us at the entry. We were quite early and just talking outside and she rudely told us it opened at 7pm. We smiled and said it’s fine we’re just waiting and she rolled her eyes. Nice one. We entered at 7pm and she hardly looked at us when we said we had tickets and she barked some instructions and was ready for the next victim. We were there to see Zoe K. What a waste of money that was. A woman with so much talent just trashed herself and the show. Her “improv” music and singing was not what we paid for. Her trashy words overshadowed the essence of her jazz talents and this is what we paid to see but didn’t. We walked out only after around 30 mins of her “performance”. It was a disappointing experience. The drinks overly expensive. The only good thing I can say is that the food was nice, bar staff friendly, the art on the walls were charming and the restrooms clean but that’s about it. I won’t be back.

Called the owner Craig on Wednesday to confirm that if I bought tickets for a group of 6 that a table would be booked for 9.30. When my group rocked up we spoke to Craig that said he wasn’t ‘Craig’ we confirmed the names that I had booked for 6. When we asked for our table we were told that it was ‘first come first serve’ when I asked to speak to Craig he had Conveniently ‘Left’ and were told to deal with MoshTix where we purchased our ‘booking’. Ended up going to the pub across the road where the bartenders confirmed that Craig has been trying to steal workers to come across to his bar. Thanks for wasting my time and money Craig you absolute scam artist.

I’ve never had venue staff so utterly ruin a great night. Incredibly rude and discriminatory. Basically bullies. Here’s hoping for a full staff overhaul omfg. The bar manager asked me to have a water (about 20 of us had come from a 40th) which I did. She acknowledged that I had done that and chilled with my friends and I could order a last drink for myself and a friend. Then the barman refused. Very confusing, I wasn't intoxicated. Having plenty of very coherent chats with staff and my friends. Super weird vibe, all my mates agreed.

Attended a friend’s birthday party here recently. The bar staff were attentive, friendly and happy to help. Moody and eccentric atmosphere: small rooms, low lights and loud music. Overall a good experience and I would recommend the lounge. (Photo taken on level 1 with disposable camera)

Lazybones gives that intimate feeling being close with the band that plays. The food is simple, cheap and good. The bar is great! Will come again.

Excellent venue for live music. It's small, so you're close to the musicians, which always adds to the enjoyment. I've always found the further away from the band you are the less the experience. The night we went, 2 excellent bands and a meal less than $40. Can't get much better than that!

I had an incredible time at this jazz music bar and restaurant! The live jazz performances were phenomenal, creating a fantastic atmosphere. The musicians showcased their immense talent, and the music was captivating. The food and drinks were also top-notch, with a great selection to choose from. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring a memorable experience. If you're a jazz enthusiast looking for a delightful evening, this place is a must-visit!

Amazing place for live music and drinks. Food is ok if you are Australian but if you come from different background have dinner first. Love the place go there all the time. Staff is very friendly, great music and really, really good atmosphere.

If you are after a unique night out this is the place, great live music, staff, food & atmosphere

really pretty venue, but I can't understand why they would keep shattering bottles all night in the same, small room as performers. the food was very average and we were served dairy on a menu item that was specified vegan, even after confirming twice that the dish didn't come with it. I can't recommend this place.

Exceptional! Have been to several jazz bars across Australia but this is out there on its own. 3 hours of outstanding talent, 11 musicians led by the amazing Bridie King. A fabulous setting, great vibe and a must do if you're in the western suburbs of Sydney.

Came here for live performance. The break is too long I got bored and reviewing this. Band performed 45 min, still on break as I am typing for 45 min. Feels like scam. Place is ok, but tonight is very disappointing. $33 per person for DJ does not worse it. Make sure the deal before going

Ideal place for live music, “it’s cool “ not pretentious like many other venues , love the cosy atmosphere .

My wife & I attended Dr V's Swing Thing last Sunday. We'd booked in for 16 people to celebrate my wife's up coming birthday. The staff were all incredibly accommodating. Thank you so much for everything you did for us, special shout out to Ali (I hope I spelt that correctly). We all had a fantastic time.

Had a great night out here celebrating a friends 40th. Lovely intimate bar with enough space for dancing and mingling. Great bar staff and helpful staff in general. Nice rum selection too! Top night out!

Always great music upstairs and downstairs and tonight was no exception. Friendly bar and food staff and tonight Zoe on the front-door was very gracious and patient whilst dealing with me. I was having a meltdown 🤔 And for a lounge bar of this calibre, the food is appropriate!

Went there for a jazz concert and food. Such a great evening. The venue is not too big so if you want a good table don't come too late. Food was really good and the music even better.

Very cool music lounge. We had a gift voucher which got us entry and a meal. The food is simple curries but very tasty. Live music was great.

Lazybones is always a fun and eccentric place to visit. A great music venue with the nicest vibes, and an on-going roster of different acts. If you’re looking for a venue in Sydney opened late to listen to some jazz, or to meet a friend for a drink at the bar, you can never go wrong with Lazybones.

First time at Lazybones and it did not disappoint. The venue was eccentric with a good vibe. Food was great and the staff friendly and attentive. The BURLESQUE show was fabulous, fun and flirty. Loved every moment. Tonight in addition to the show we had the Zoe K experience. Would highly recommend Lazybones as a place to listen to great tunes

This place eeeeks of nostalgia, its a stamp back in time. You feel a sense that many have come before you and grooved to a 10000 tunes. I didn't get to eat the curry menu but the vibe of the band drew me back into a my childhood with songs from the 80s. Be good to try this place if you wanna great place to chill and feel good about yourself. Don't take my word for it take a bunch of people with you so you can dance and groove likes its your birthday

  • 4/5 Karen S. 1 year ago on Google
Entry fee includes a very basic meal. $30. I would rather pay entry and eat elsewhere beforehand. Maybe there could be an option? The curries on offer tasted like the frozen ones from the supermarket. Music was great though!!

  • 5/5 Luke R. 1 year ago on Google
Very cool chilled atmosphere. Staff are friendly and food is good. If you're going for a show, make sure you get there as soon as the doors open to get a good seat! Or you can just sit up the back and get in trouble for standing on the tables (sorry guys!)

This is a great venue where a distinctly retro chic, quasi Art Deco atmosphere, meets a decidedly modern, upbeat, dance-ready patronage. Offering various genres of live music through the week, it's arguably safe to say most musical tastes are catered for, plus an exotic array of meals. On the night we went, my partner and I had two minor gripes. First is, the band on the night didn't really deliver with consistency the music they promote themselves as performing. Second is, the high seats available at most raised tables slant downwards so no secure seating position is possible for your bum! But these shouldn't deter anyone from visiting Lazybones for a great night out at reasonable price.

The place is awesome, great bands and music, interior, but the bar staff are a little too nonchalant.

  • 5/5 jim k. 1 year ago on Google
Wow wow wow this place is the bomb. The amount of musical talent that plays on the stage is just incredible and so diverse I’ve noticed this is a place for to come and chill and just listen to the music. have a drink or two and just enjoy. By the way you won’t taste a better curry anywhere

Nice place. Nice music gigs! Friendly staff. It'd be better if they have more food options on the menu and cheaper cocktails.

👍 Best restaurant for South Indian dishes. Worth a try of Biryani. Tried Tandoori Soya today and it was the best I ever had here. Egg65 Biryani was so tasty. Crispy Baby corn was bad seemed like it was not fresh. You should not let your standards drop.
