Hands down the best Italian in Sydney. Great menu and pasta options, caters to all. Perfect intersection of flavour and price. Fantastic staff. Gets busy but usually don't have problems with getting a table. Gluten free pasta available is delicious - couldn't even tell the difference. Also BYO with no corkage charge so bring a bottle and enjoy the meal.

If you've been to Newtown, you would just see how popular this place is. Walk by around dinner time and there's always a line out the door of people eagerly waiting for a quick, delicious Italian feed. The ordering process is simple. You walk up to the counter and select the type of pasta you want. Then it's time to choose a sauce. There are 18 types to choose from and they range from the basic 'Napolitana' to the 'Mare E Monte' which is a beautiful mix of king prawns and mushrooms in a creamy red sauce. (This is one of my favourites!) They also serve up risottos as well as veal and chicken dishes. The great thing about this place is that you get to see the chefs in action because of their open kitchen. You see it all from the time they're heating up the pans to the moment they place the dishes on the counter top for service. You can't get any fresher than that!

If you want to try a delicious italian feast then you should visit The Italian bowl. It's a place full of vibe - great service & convenient location. The best part is that their dishes are cooked right in front of your eyes, ensuring that fresh food equals a great experience. My fave is Chicken Aglio e olio & Chicken Schnitzel.. Cant wait to visit them again!

We came here years ago and it’s great to see that the quality of this small and busy local gem has been maintained! The pasta was delicious but I think the garlic bread could have done with a little bit more garlic. Can’t wait to come back and try some of the other dishes. Gnocchi in Gorgonzola sauce; Linguine in Crab Meat Rose Bisque Sauce.

We were here for a quick lunch after hearing all the good things about this place. Overall, not a bad experience. I’m not a Italian cuisine expert. But I do have a few Italian good friends who are chefs and they love to share their hometown handmade food. The flavour of the pasta we ordered was delicious and the price was good. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to tryout more that day. Will come and see if there are some other goodies. Customer service is good too. We didn’t know they are cash only but the lady at the counter let us order first in case we need to wait for too long.

Absolutely love this spot for a quick meal! The pasta options and sauce combinations are extensive, giving you the flexibility to tailor your dish just the way you like it. The option to upsize the portion for a little extra is a bonus, and combining it with a schnitzel of your choice is a must-try move. Ordering is a breeze, and the best part is the speed at which they deliver freshly cooked meals to your table. While enjoying my meal, I couldn't help but notice someone savoring the arancini, and it looked absolutely awesome. Without a doubt, that's on my list to try next time. This place has definitely earned its spot as my go-to for a satisfying and quick dining experience!

This is the perfect place to get pasta pronto! Go there for the food then go for a movie or meet friends before a night out. I don't recommend that its a place to linger around after your meal has finished. There are lines so be considerate and let the rest of Sydney enjoy this great place instead of you being selfish and hogging the table as if the whole world revolves around you! The staff are great and in this quick n' go go place it works. Their tiramisu is above terrific. One final Top tip, do not wear white!

After hearing from many people how great this place is I decided to try it out for myself. As they do not take bookings we had to wait 15 minutes in line, however we were given the menu to read over. We ordered the special “beef ragu” and pesto gnocchi, with a side of bruschetta. I found it unusual that the cheese had to be purchased separately and came in a separate container, but it was still a decent amount of cheese. Food was great and not bad pricing! Would definitely come here again!

Tasty and comforting: great place to satisfy your pasta craving! We ordered to deliver and were happy with our experience. The dishes arrived still warm & the pasta were still al dente! And the portion was big :) I had the Mare E Monte Fettucine and it was amazing. The sauce was creamy and very tasty. It also fit really well with the prawns & mushrooms. My partner had the combo special with Calabrese linguine & the veal schnitzel. The latter was well-seasoned but a little tough. But he really enjoyed the Calabrese pasta: it tasted like a pizza but with pasta (but in a good way!) We ordered through DoorDash and had 30% off on our order, so we paid a little bit over $50 for 2 people, which was a good deal :)

The pasta was really good and freshly made, served steaming hot. The prawns are fresh and in decent size. Pasta was cooked with perfect timing. The sauce is full of flavours and spices, freshness of tomato, cheesy and creamy. The restaurant is spacious and clean, well conditioned. Service is okay, you have to grab your own water. Pasta are from $18-26

I got the chicken parmigiana, spaghetti boscaiola for dinner, and bruschetta. Overall, food was really good. However, I’m not quite a fan of the whole vibe since it was really really crowded and loud at a fairly small space.

The Italian bowl Newtown is the best value for your money. Located in the epicentre of Sydney’s Inner West and next to the Dendy cinema, you can’t go wrong and won’t be disappointed. Choose your pasta and sauce and your generous meal is ready within minutes - you can BYO and there’s a couple of bottle shops directly across the street 🍝

Love the foods ! Average price for the portion as well, would give 5 stars if they have a better place, not really comfortable when it was a full house, too cramped and too close to other customers, making it difficult for us to walk too. But it was okay. Good job guys, for us as a first time customer.

What a beautiful lunch. Friendly staff, easy ordering and delicious food. We sat down with menus which was so simple, pick your pasta (gluten free available), pick your sauce then order at the counter and pay, your food is brought to the table and once you finish eating you can get up and leave, can’t get more convenient than that. We also ordered Arancini and Garlic bread 😬 we were too hungry so didn’t get a chance to take a pic but trust me they we delicious as well. They also do Risotto’s, Seafood, Veal and Chicken dishes, Salad’s and desserts….definitely worth trying 😋

Very nice, I visited here 3 times and it always serves good foods and staff are friendly. Portions are quite decent so 2 main menus for 2 people could be a little too much 😂 We ordered 1 pasta and 2 sides and it was more than enough. Definitely a must-try place, price is reasonable compared to other italian restaurants as well! It’s a very popular place so it might be too noisy but otherwise we were very happy to visit!

A great place for home-style pasta feed! They offer such a wide range of pasta aswell as veal and chicken schnitzel dishes! All dishes were incredibly generous in servings. They were freshly cooked, and was packed with flavours but my favourite dish was Mare E Mont and chicken parmigiana. Mare E Monte was not only tasty with the creamy Napolitana sauce but it came with a generous amount of King Prawns! The chicken parmigiana was so crispy and it came with a rich tomato sauce, just the way I like it! The staff were very friendly and the interior of of the restaurant was very homey. Definitely recommend you to check it out!

Always great food. Nice unpretentious Italian restaurant in New Town. Great example of a restaurant focusing on the food and letting the rest work itself out. Pictures is Siciliana Potato Gnocci, Brischetta, and Aglio E Olio King Prawns Fettucini. Got away for $56 for a great lunch!

What a wonderful place to eat!!! It’s our favorite place with my boyfriend. We are both from Argentina and this place remind us the kind of restaurants that we have in there. We have been here a few times, always for lunch. Tonight we went for dinner and the place was really really busy but the staff was sooo kind even in a stressful situation like a busy restaurant. The food was awesome, we didn’t expect a good quality food because it was busy BUT we were wrong. It was quick and delicious. The music so loud was a little bit annoying but I know the reason of that in a busy restaurant, so it’s ok 😂 the staff did a really good job and of course we will back every time we are in Sydney. Cheers 🥂

I absolutely love this place, the food is incredible and the prices are so reasonable for the quality of food. It’s just a very small space, you literally cannot hear anything because of everyone talking and the tables and chairs are so close together. It’s also really hard to get ahold of someone to help if you need anything just because of how crowded it can get, especially on a Friday and Saturday night. That being said, I always have a great experience and the staff are so lovely.

The pasta here never disappoints! We always take our family (visiting from overseas) here to get a taste of authentic Italian. The service is super fast and the staff are very friendly. The mushroom risotto is consistently fantastic. Please note that it’s not a place to chit chat and have a relaxed dinner. It’s like a local live kitchen, super busy and buzzing. It can get very loud and because of the quick service, you might feel rushed. However the staff make you feel welcome and DO NOT rush you whatsoever. We’ll keep going there again, confident that it will be awesome as always.

best pasta ever, great flavour, fast service and friendly staff. gets busy at evenings and nights, recommend booking, sometimes has lines for the wait, definitely needs more room for seating.

A great little Italian placed, seemed family run and service was great, food was good but a little salty (also didn’t think it was great that they charge extra for cheese!) Recommended.

It's not fine dinning but it's great food great atmosphere. Depending on time fast service. The family usually come here. The cost are good for the quality of food

Food here is great. It is packed most of the times and it does tell you how busy and in demand their pasta is. The Italian Bowl is truly an experience you must have if you love pasta. The flavors and open kitchen is just absolutely worthwhile watching. The open flames and the fast paced serving is spot on. Just don't expect it to be a fancy high class service.

Forgive my crime of drowning the food in cheese but I love the stuff. The ravioli was absolutely delicious not only was it cooked to perfection but the in house sauce was beautifully done, a balanced blend of spices and right amount of salt. The fettuccine and sea food pasta was creamy to the point where I wonder if they had just finished making the cream that very morning. The sea was masterfully cooked so that neither the seafood or pasta was either overcooked or under. Honest opinion it was delicious.

Ordered the carbonara for takeaway was super excited but it doesnt even come like a sauce but more just sticks to the pasta making it taste really stodgy and not v pleasant. Saw another similar critique of the same dish so doesnt seem like theyve took this feedback onboard. Shame based on how much I paid.

Absolutely delish! Great Italian meal and great with food intolerances- messaged them before dining so it gave me piece of mind before dining and it was easy just to talk to cashier about food intolerances. Will be back :)

It's an institute of Newtown. Clean, fanstic pasta that isn't over complicated and makes you feel like you're coming home. It's consistent each and every time. Staff are warm and inviting and what can I say, the pasta is brilliant. Love being able to see in the kitchen and how fresh it's created and popped straight on a plate in front of you. Can't wait to visit again soon. Check out @sixfootandsalty for more foodie recommendations!

This is really a lovely Italian culture to share those wonderful pasta dishes with your family and friends. That's why @theitalianbowl has a good range of authentic Italian cuisines that gives quality and rich flavour that you won't forget! I am excited to see all these pastas on the table. No matter food and services are highly recommended!! My fav is their gnocchi and risotto, can’t wait to go back

What a hidden gem! The Italian Bowl is a slice of Italy tucked away in our neighbourhood. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were embraced by the warmth of Italian hospitality. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, perfect for a romantic date night or a gathering with friends. The menu is a testament to authentic Italian cuisine, with a delightful array of dishes that cater to every palate. We savoured every bite of our meal, from the antipasti to the decadent desserts. Each dish was crafted with care and bursting with fresh, vibrant flavours that left us craving more. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu with genuine enthusiasm. Our experience at The Italian Bowl was nothing short of magical, and we can't wait to return for another taste of Italy!

👍 Best restaurant for South Indian dishes. Worth a try of Biryani. Tried Tandoori Soya today and it was the best I ever had here. Egg65 Biryani was so tasty. Crispy Baby corn was bad seemed like it was not fresh. You should not let your standards drop.
