😐 The sashimi is sooo fresh I would rate it 8/10! The service was good too. But we were disappointed with the skewers and main! The meat was soooo over cooked and chewy. The Wagyu had some flavour, but the duck, pork belly and chicken were bland and dry :( Also noted they poured our soft drinks into... People often mention good, skewers, service, Japanese, restaurant, sashimi, fresh, chicken, staff, great,

The sashimi is sooo fresh I would rate it 8/10! The service was good too. But we were disappointed with the skewers and main! The meat was soooo over cooked and chewy. The Wagyu had some flavour, but the duck, pork belly and chicken were bland and dry :( Also noted they poured our soft drinks into a tall glass with ice and used the remainder of the can for other peoples drinks…disappointing to see. Interior is cosy with good ambience! Would be a 4/5 star rating if the skewers weren’t so tough

We stumbled across this place on TikTok and it surely did not disappoint. The quality was first class, we frankly loved everything there. The salmon was luscious, fatty. Meat was well grilled. It was surprising that there weren’t many people on a Saturday at 7pm, which was a bonus for us as us two got a 4 seater, it was peaceful and quiet as well. Some staff are Japanese and they were all kind. Food was quick to get on the table as well. We were also spoiled with choices as there were so many temping food choices in their menu!

Excellent sashimi and green tea panacotta! Everything else was average - wagyu skewers were well-done/ bit chewy and seafood hotpot was slightly bland. Service was very efficient and it was refreshing to see friendly and attentive staff. The restaurant felt spacious with high ceilings and spaced tables. It was a shame that we were seated right by the door, especially because it was chilly at night. Would be keen to come back and try other menu items :)

Tori Izakaya offers a delightful Japanese dining experience. The quality of food and service is good, making it a perfect spot for friends to gather. Don’t miss out on their sake selection – adds a great touch to the overall experience!

The food was delicious and good value for money. The skewers where definitely the best part of the meal. The restaurant is nice however the service could be better.

despite being a located on a prominent spot in the metro, i've somehow managed to miss this gem of a restaurant until recently, and everything here could very well be one of the best japanese restaurants i've dined at. the staff here are very hospitable, attentive, and welcoming, and every dish we've had here was made to perfection and delivered with flair as they had named each and every specific fish in the small sushi platter we got. we also tried their signature tori, and it was delicious. the culinary skills of the chefs are so pronounced in the dishes they serve that its quite a joy to see it. with exceptionally friendly staff, service, and especially food, the experience i've had here was one of bests!

We had 2 wagyu steaks, the Tofu, the ramen, the 2 salmon. As pictured below. Well, this is my personal feedback. People may not agreed with me. We ordered some of the most expensive dishes in the menu. The highlight is the wagyu, but it wasn't wow..they were basic steak. I was glad they didn't screw these ones for us. Cause the rest of the meals were OK. I wouldn't probably travel to Marricville only to eat in this restaurant though. The ramen was not good. It has the smell of grilled charshiew which is nice but the broth was not deep. It was watery taste. I wouldn't order this one. The salmon steak was just ok. I meant I would be able to just make it myself at home. It was dry, I was expecting the salmon would be abit goey in the middle to preserve the taste and moisture. But this one was totally dry dry. Costed $32+ which was very dissapointed for me. Enough said but I will just go to my local Japs rest next time. Not worth my trip there unfortunately 😕 😔

Ate here a couple of weeks ago. Seating, service and nice. Servings are very generous. The sashimi platter was very fresh. The sticks were a bit hit and miss. Some were nice, but some were soso.

WE LOVED EVERYTHING. This is by far the best resto in marrickville metro. We ordered: Sushi Sashimi Pork belly skewers Tori genbu (supposedly negi but staff heard us wrong haha! All good though we actually got to taste all the chicken skewers and they were all goooood) Tokyo fried rice Will definitely come back! And will order dessert next time! 😋 PS you have to book a table. They don't seem to accept walkins.

The sashimi is fresh and nicely portioned, food was generally good quality, though the dishes could be bigger sized for its price. The wait staff were real Japanese for a change, service is great, with unexpectedly proper Japanese etiquette! Dining environment is nicely done too, love the whiskeys sitting around. Would return if I'm in the area.

Very good Japanese restaurant located in the new “trendy” part of the Marrickville Metro shopping centre. Sushi, yakitori, and a wide selection of Japanese beers, whisky’s and sake on offer for dinner.

Skewers were decent. The beef tartare (coated with some sesame dressing) was pretty big portion - was hard for 2 people to finish. The ginger was spicier than the wasabi. They really need to up the wasabi quality. Soft shell crab roll was pretty good. Sashimi slices were pretty thick.

The Volcano Sushi Roll was so tasty, absolutely delightful! Wagyu skewers were perfect but the beef tongue ones were tough and extremely chewy. Waiter and service were exceptional and they were very efficient with serving the food on Sunday night. I recommend this place and would return.

Izakaya is located in a very prominent location at the marrickville metro food precinct. I dined in on a Saturday night, it was not busy at Izakaya or anything of the other restaurants except Frangos. For this review I booked in as a ‘first table’ customer. If you book the first table of the night you get 50% off the total bill. For first table customers, you’re an allocated to an outdoor dining section, while others are seated internally. All items on the menu are eligible for 50% except for drinks. Each adult just order at least one main and one drink. The Tori menu has a lot to offer from Yaki-Tori, cooked entree, raw entree, salads, omakase sushi, sushi roll, sashimi, special mains, hot pot, rice & noodle and dessert. Skewers require a minimum order of 2 sticks of the same type (not cheap when you order a few), however the size of the stick is quite good. Hokkaido don $38.8, which consists of a plate of salmon, tuna, scallop, prawn and rice, was a very small dish which can be easily eaten by one person. While fisherman nabe had generous amounts of mixed seafood with udon for $28.8. Yaki gyoza had 6 delicious pieces at $14.8. Smashed cucumber salad $11.8, similar to what you’ll find from a Chinese restaurant, instead of garlic they use ginger. Tori definitely has some unique dishes, however the prices are through the roof. If it wasn’t for first table, our bill would have been well over $130 for 2 adults 1 child. Even though we ordered two entrees, 4 skewers and two main dishes it was just enough to eat (we paid $94). Hokkaido don was a let down, everything else I thought was quite good.

We had lunch at this izakaya and food didn't disappoint at all. What we ordered: lunch bento, curry and gyoza. Serving portion was generous, nice presentation with umami flavour profile. The restaurant is modern and has two dining areas, indoor or outdoor. Highly recommend!

Loved the Japanese tavern inspired atmosphere with open spaces. 🙂 Their robata grilled skewers were delicious. There were a lot to choose, from different part of chicken to beef, pork to vegetables. The darkly sweet salty marinade and sauces they used in some of the skewers added moisture and flavour. My recommendation would be Tsukune (Chicken meat ball), Butabara (Pork belly), Unagi (Eel) and Wagyu Beef. 😀 Sashimi were fresh and beautifully crafted. I also like their Yuzu Scallop for appetisers. They were seared Hokkaido scallop served with yuzu mayo topped with nori and tabiko. 🙂 Their lunch bento boxes are great too. A little pricey than others but they use fresh and premium ingredients in each box. 🙂

Authentic flavour, and generous portions. We loved the kingfish carpaccio with yuzu jelly; fishermen nabe! It will be great if mocktails can be added to their drink list.

The pork and chicken are delicious. Especially, the Yaki Wombok Salad is amazing.

Been here twice. First for dinner set menu. Second for lunch bento. Food are at good quality, great service, best thing is they have covered outdoor seats that are dog friendly. Photo is lunch bento box - Chirashi. Great mix of sashimi fish, generous variety of sides.

Drinks and spider roll were quite nice. They are generous with the meat in the ramen but found the broth just soso. The skewers were decent - wagyu was chewier that we'd like but sauce was tasty. The pork skewers were a bit dry. Servers are friendly and ambience was good. It's a shame there's a rod running through the midlength of most of the tables though (aesthetic but not practical) as we found the seating quite uncomfortable because of this.

Great izakaya spot in the inner west! Sashimi platter was really fresh, they even gave an extra piece. Yakitori was great, highly recommend everything we tried. Yaki udon beef is a good pick for a carb dish. Amazing and warm service, food came out very quickly. Thank you to the staff who also provided a free shot of hot sake. Definitely will be recommending this place to friends. Pictured: Yakitori: wagyu, pork belly, king mushroom, tori (chicken) soft bone 9pc sashimi platter Yaki udon beef

Great little Japanese restaurant in the heart of Marrickville. Really impressed with the service and with the food selection. Reasonably priced and tasty skewers too. Highly recommend the cabbage salad, so tasty with black garlic dressing.

Had dinner on a Sunday and the place was quiet so I was a bit worried if we made the right choice in coming here. Glad we did as the food was actually pretty good and service was friendly. Would definitely come back to try the other dishes.

Went here with my husband after work, really loved their cucumber salad, very tasty and yummy. Wagyu, chicken , vegetables skewer also tasty 😋 .. happy tummy 😋

Tori (chicken) bento box was delicious and super extremely generous with the salmon. It also came with tori karagge and vegetable tempura which was a surprise! The chefs sushi selection had 8 pieces of fresh, delicious and perfect rice to fish ratio nigiri. The tori gyoza was what you would expect in a gyoza, nothing special but still enjoyable. Good food overall and because we spent a certain amount in Marrickville Metro, we scored a $25 dining voucher which we used here! 🍱 🍣 🥟

Had a birthday dinner here in this restaurant. We ordered the duck, wagyu beef, various izakaya and drinks. Food presentation was beautiful with plenty of colours to lure your senses and taste buds. It definitely is mouth watering… The taste of each izakaya was unique! It was packed full of flavour and the meat was cooked to perfection. The duck with sea salt had a unique paring of flavours. The saltiness mixed with the orange infused in the duck ignites once palette. Definitely worth the 1st try and will be back to try more.

👍 Best restaurant for South Indian dishes. Worth a try of Biryani. Tried Tandoori Soya today and it was the best I ever had here. Egg65 Biryani was so tasty. Crispy Baby corn was bad seemed like it was not fresh. You should not let your standards drop.
