A must-see if you happen to be in that part of the country. A good bit of workout to go around the entire complex but it certainly is worth it. Go with a guide to learn about its relevance and history otherwise enjoy a good bit of ancient architecture.

With the presence of a tour guide, you appreciate the history and background of this magnificent structure. Some of the stats were really hard to believe but who knows lol. A lot of unclear versions are speculated about these structures but one thing for sure is they were r really advanced in their plots and desighn

Perhaps the best known thing about Great Zimbabwe today is its stone birds: 8 grey-green soapstone birds have been found and they remain an enigma. Are they representations of the threshing eagle which, in the Shona religion, is a messenger, a mediator between spirits and men? The famous birds have become national emblems as seen on the Zimbabwean flag and on stamps .Around 1830, the Rozwi kingdom was invaded and destroyed by the Nguni from South Africa. Only the stone buildings remain. On the arrival of Europeans in the 19th century, the area was occupied by the Karanga; the site itself was rediscovered in 1868 by a hunter, Adam Renders, and explored in 1871 by the geologist Carl Mauch

It's awesome to see nature at its best. Quite a workout to climb up to see some parts. One has to be prepared to walk just over 8km or so to see the whole place There's also some entertainment in some parts like the village It's really a great experience

It is not often that one visits a place that has given birth to the name of a country and produced its identity. This historical area is full of a great deal of African heritage. In the same league as the great pyramids of Gaza, great Zimbabwe is an example of pure African Civilisation, intellect and art. It would be wise to bring comfortable walking shoes and a bottle of water for your exploration. The tour guide was exceptionally good with a great command of the facts of history and ability to handle large crowds. So far, this has been the epitome of my visit to Zimbabwe. The only improvement needed is to add more litter bins at the picnic areas

My room was very neat and modern with air conditioning, you can easily forget you're in the middle of the thick bush. A very peaceful place far from the noise. The meals were quite pleasant especially the traditional ones😋

Great history is being preserved at this place and amazingly the walls are standing strong without mortar or much reinforcement from the present. My family has a great appreciation of the walls more than learning from History and they marveled at its beauty still and workmanship displayed by the people who constructed. How excellent they cited the hill complex and the great wall. So amazing. After the hike, most of my family members were dragging their feet... They got their moral back after being welcomed by a traditional dance group that's resident besides the great wall. This energised them to go and see the great wall and to their amazement it was not just a wall but a well calculated and carefully constructed wall for the ladies... Sadly, our timing was bad we missed the library at the monuments though we had a great time...

A great and rich cultural heritage site. No explanation is enough to explain how they cut out so many rocks into brick shapes. I suggest that they selected them from across greater areas. Absents of an excavation site proves that the rocks came far.

A rather interesting place to vist. I enjoyed the hike up and down. The style of architecture was interesting A place to visit if you're in the area The upkeep of the grounds need to be looked into and souvenir/convenience store was rather empty so take your own food and drinks

A must see! The history of the Shona people of Zimbabwe is richly laid out here. The stone structures are a wonder to see. A city larger in structure and population than London at the time of its height, Great Zimbabwe is compulsory to visit when you are in Zimbabwe...as a local and as a visitor to the country

Great experience. Makes for a worthy hike to the upper part of the site, with the added fun of exploring a structure built hundreds of years ago. The Great Zimbabwe is said to be Africa’s second largest man-made structure behind only the pyramids of Egypt. It only took about three hours to see everything but it was well worth the time and energy!

Our tour guide was so pleasant. The climb to the top is exhausting but so worth it.

The scenery. The cultural significance. This place is a must go. Facilities are a bit run down though. Would have loved to see the museum at 100%

If you've still got the energy to hike monuments that were built hundreds of years ago, do it! This was fascinating.

Very interesting national monument of Zimbabwe which is a must-see, and more money to be spent on tourist centre & museum so even better things to come!

It was good. Just disappointed that the museum was closed, they should have told us from the gates before entering, instead of us entering and paying and then going to the museum. No notice on the door or anything.

The craftsman. It's art at it's most perfectionism. You just have to see it.

Out standing workmen-ship. A great insight of what early civilisation could do without the aid of model tools. Definitely one of those places which one would appreciate more by visiting it.
