Good food, great quantity, at a great price. The staff is really nice and polite. The Menu has a good broad range and the place is very student friendly. Om Vegetarian also has light snacking options. The place has vegan options as well. Highly recommend it if you want good Indian food esp. to students. They have multiple locations. Takeaway options are available and the packaging is reusable too ! Definitely try the Chai.

For a quick, healthy and fairly inexpensive vegetarian meal around this very central city location, this place is hard to beat. I've eaten here a few times and the value is great. Although I've never needed it, if you're a big eater then the all you can eat option is there or you. You can enter via both Collins and Swanston Streets.

Excellent value. For under $9, you can get a meal with 3 main dishes, rice and bread that is filling. It's all you can eat too so you can get a second helping. The quality of the food is good. I recommend it to anyone that is looking for a budget meal when in the city.

Om Vegetarian is another one of those cheap eats that you can't really complain about. Honestly, my only issue is the rice. I'd happily pay that extra 50-$1.00c for better rice. However, it's a cheap eat, with all you can eat bread, a samovar and a mango lassi for $12.50 I am giving them 5* for the value and the friendly service. Sometimes you have to wait for a seat, but it's worth it for something a bit different. With all you can eat bread, no doubt you're going to be leaving full up. There's usually a veg curry, a dahl, and another Indian, gravy like sauce. It's served with rice and a few sliced of bread. I usually sign up for the combo deal though. Hard not to for an extra 4 bucks. Samosa is also served with Tamarind. In the past I've had other curries, not sure if the Durian fruit one was available, but I think that's a vegan one, and it's pretty meaty in texture for a vegan meal. You can see me on Instagram and YouTube with #thehandthatbites hashtag

Located at the end of an alley along Swanston street. Tried the all you can eat Thaali meal for $8.50. Love the nann, but the rice is soggy. Curry is not bad, but overall don’t think I will be back again.

For a cheap no fuss meal, done in the authentic Thali style, you cannot go pass this eatery, the dishes are simple, however very flavoursome, at $9.50 it is amazing value an added bonus, it is also an all you can eat, including Naan bread, as lovers of Indian cuisine, this is the go to place for us.

Om Vegetarian, you are the best Indian shop in Melbourne. You are the one and only. You are unbeatable. I'm always very satisfied the amount/portion size you serve. Well done. In the whole Australia, you are the best Indian restaurant. I just ordered few minutes earlier today And again you did an amazing job as usual.

So far so good. Can't expect more for 8.5 AUD. Very economical. Three curries + naan + rice . You can also refill each item. All you can eat. It's a good deal. They can work on taste little bit. Mainly the combination of spices. No complains though.

For the price this place is great value. A few fresh veggies would be good in the mix, but I understand to offer all you can eat under $10 and make rent in the cbd, dried legumes and grains are the most economical ingredients. This reminds me of cheap dhaba walls joints by the road in rural India. Authentic and delicious.

It’s a quick lunch place not very clean and tidy don’t have place for hand wash, dustbin was just next the area where people were sitting. The food was so watery and no spice taste, chickpeas are the only thing I filled myself with. they should have cooked to make it better. The only thing good is Naan and it’s refillable, however I will still not recommend for a vegetarian food, as there are plenty of other choices available in the Melbourne CBD, the only thing I can recommend is service as they were very quick and very little wait time.

really friendly owners and good atmosphere. authentic thaali and delicious curries. like the rest of the reviews, the rice is bland and tasteless. but once you mix it with the curries, it doesn’t matter anymore. the satisfying meal for a good price.

We've always wanted to try the "all you can eat Indian" concept, and it just so happens to be that we stumbled upon this little gem. So we thought, why not give it a shot. Super good value with unlimited re-fills (for food). We downed two plates each. It's a fast in and out, but we went on a quieter weekend so we could just chill as well. The place has a quite nice and warm atmosphere. I just hoped they would have more choices of curries to choose from. The Mango Lasi was amazing, so much so that we had to get another one on the go. It's super cheap too at, if I recall correctly $2.50 per cup. Might drop by next time to see if there are any different curries next time ??

This is one of the cheapest meal deal you will get it in the town. The concept/idea is really amazing where they provide free food/meals to the homeless or beggars. Overall, you will always get hot meal with unlimited breads/naans. They have a lot of branches within city.

Very nice restaurant. I had a special order of Palak paneer without onion and garlic on a Tuesday. The lady chef made it so tasty can’t thank much. Also the Indian ginger strong tea she made amazed me and my friend. So impressed.

It was that off hour when I was starving at 330pm, the cafes and restaurants were closed and I started panicking until I spied OM Vegetarian at the back on an arcade off SwanstonWalk. I rushed in, saw it filled with the local Indian population and I smiled. It has to be good then I thought. Yes, it was good! I had Amisari Kulcha, thin flat bread stuffed with potatoes amd tons of spices + chilli flakes cooked in tandoor - definitely not for the faint hearted, served with raita and chick pea curry. My sinus opened up, sweat poured out, but it truly was yummy. At the end of the meal, I had to cool down with their delicious mango lassi. What an unexpected meal and so cheap!

Naans used to be much better earlier, not now. Overall ok for price but food is not that tasty you would like to go for next time. The curries are watery and it has lots of uncooked overdose of turmeric. Rice quality is also average.

Good food at a decent price. As of May-2023, the veg thali is $8.50 that has roti, rice and 3 veg curries. Combo thali at $12.50 will get you thali along with samosa and mango lassi. They also have special meals options as ala carte. - Thali: The roti in the thali and the dhal was good but the curry was a bit watery. - The samosa was very good. Thanks.

Poor food even if it’s cheap you can always make it better if you decide to cook at the premises, you are cooking somewhere else and bringing them in plastic buckets and reheating all day along. The worst is still coming if you guys pay cash you will realize that the girl with thick dark hair will pinch a dollar or two from your bill always , it happened few times and I purposely went to test but nothing changed so then I decided to write this review and bring awareness to the ones who think cheap is good which I agree it is but reheated food may cause some troubles not now but in future for sure!! All the very best

Still the cheapest place in the city!! Free refills and staff really nice too. Went in on a Tuesday and neither too busy nor too quiet, tucked away from the main street nicely. Note it's ONLY VEGETARIAN. Saw a group walk in and ask.

Om vegetarian is a little hidden gem, for the price of the food is fantastic, especially with free refills for the curry trays. Obviously it’s not as nice as a more expensive Indian restaurant, but it’s perfect if you feel like a cheap and delicious meal. The curry is definitely the star of the show as the rice isn’t too fluffy Overall, will visit again

Unfortunately for what could have been an affordable option to dig into a descent vegetarian buffet. This establishment Is basically an over-glorified soup kitchen, except they demand you pay for every curry cake that comes with the next plate. And for an all you can eat service I ended up feeling pretty full and quite frankly Ill after only 1 and a half servings. Staff and mostly friendly but I will never eat in again. You’re better off trying places like lentils as anything.

One of the best restaurant for Indian food, amazing and authentic Punjabi taste. Place is very clean and hygienic. It's just next to the Town Hall on Collins St,. Easy access of tram just outside this restaurant. Team working there is very humble and provide best service as compared to other Indian restaurants in CBD. One must try their samosa chat, and also their combo meal is amazing with unlimited food, lassi and samosa.

My go to cheap and filling food place. Extremely well priced, continuously fantastic food, and fast service. Drinks are also cheap, and they have lassi to compliment the curries. Food is fine as is with the other om vegetarian branches - good value. However really disappointed with the service and manner of the staff. Went up to order and got ignored whilst the man was talking on the phone for ages. Ordered the meal and found a ribbon of PLASTIC that was in the rice that I ate and had to pull out of my mouth. Dropped it on the plate and walked up to the staff and said “this plastic was in my food just to let you know”and they didn’t even say sorry- the only response was « would u like more samosa ». Don’t think I need to elaborate on this ...

Very flavorsome and a great deal for the price. The $7.50 thaali meal filled me up and I had the option to get more which I didn't. My only issue is that due to the thin metal dish and how thin the curry was over the dish, it did cool quickly so my food was room temperature after a short while.

(Translated by Google) The scones are delicious and the curry is not very heavy On the far left is the chickpea curry, I do n’t know in the middle. The right side is vegetable curry but the taste is very subtle. 7.5 can add curry sauce, rice, and cake indefinitely. The waiter will be very diligent to ask for the cake, if you are a very wary person, you can pass this room directly.

$7.50 for an "all you can eat" vegan curry, what more could you want? As a budget solo traveller I love this place personally, I know that some people might not think the quality of the food is that great but I say that you get what you pay for. Besides the food itself, the service here is always super fast and the staff are usually very friendly. Highly recommend.

Had dinner there with family a few years ago, we went in there without realising that it was a eat all you can at low price restaurant. So, we were pleasantly surprised to see the low price but the food wasn’t what we expected. Those 4 stars are for the good work these guys are doing for the less fortunate ones, I am not among them & I can’t honestly say that the food tasted good.

Om vegetarian is a solid indian vegetarian joint. I got the combo curry platter which came with a savoury pastry, three different curries and a drink. If I had to give some criticism it would be that the curries were a bit lacking in seasoning. Apart from that it's near impossible to beat the value you're getting here. 4/5

Good food...seriously understaffed! Had to clean the table with tissues ourselves as nobody had cleaned it..it was full house with just 2 ladies running everywhere...had to follow up for the mango Lassi that was included, turns out we had to take it from the fridge ourselves, how would someone visiting for the first time know that ! Food is really nice but the lack of adequate staff is visible and appalling.

Cheap! Quick & easy. Was exactly what I needed when I had little time and only 10 bucks in my pocket. Can even go back for more if you are hungry with the Thali combo being all you can eat & only $8.50! Nothing fancy but definitely fills the hole and tastes pretty good too

It's very affordable (vegetarian) food. I think the staff are volunteers and not particularly friendly or well trained in customer relations. They get the job well done. Sometimes there's a 10-minute wait. The main refillable dish is rice and curried lentils, chick peas etc with warm flat bread. It's a bit like soup, tasty, healthy and flavoursome but not so varied with detectable vegetables. Also not very spicy hot.

got the 14.50 combo w lassi & samosa. would not recommend - curry was watery, rice tasted damp and weird, bread was chewy (in bad way), lassi seemed off. not great. i think they water down their curries, maybe at the end of the day b4 they cook their next batch?? some of the other reviews seemed really happy so maybe i just came at a weird time

I love this place, but it's such a shame it's the only one left. Wasn't there 2 others around the CBD? The service is always excellent and I get two plates for the all you can eat plate. The staff are accommodating to more servings and not stingy about it. Thankful for that when I'm starving. I do wonder what's caused the price increase though since 2019? It used to be cheaper.

A small but economical Eatery offering unlimited helpings ( only unshared meals) The thali comes with steamed rice plus tandoori bread and three curries (chickpeas, lentils and potatoes) for less than AUD 10/- Vadai and Samosas are also available. Can be crowded during lunch hours.

Simple, authentic, no frills. Very content with the thaali lunch. Tried the combo, which is the all-you-can-eat thaali with a samosa and mango lassi.

This vegetarian meal is wholesome..... basmati rice, dhal curries ( Chickpeas, lentil seeds, aloo) plus tandoori bread and it's unlimited too. Besides there're samosas, vadai etc for your taste buds. Place is cosy and quite popular.

I was starving coming here and got a delicious, filling meal for only $9.50! I don't know another place where you get such good food for that little money. The refill was free too, wich is very generous and kind! The owners were really lovely and kind and the atmosphere was very chill, homey and welcoming! 10/10, strongly recommend coming here!
