Came here for the spicy noodle soup, and it was amazing! So many levels of chilli to choose from, the noodles and everything in the soup was very tasty. Loved the vibe of the restaurant, felt like I was in Thailand. A huge selection of food to choose from. Friendly staff and the best of all is the cute cat robot machine that delivers your food! Highly recommend this place.

Pretty authentic Thai food. Relatively good service. Wait time on Monday night 7:30 pm was about 15 min. My highlight is the Thai Milk Tea, it was so good. Only took picture after I finished it. It was that good. Oh the calamari was a solid 9/10 score. The pork shoulder a 8/10. The fried fish 8/10. The papaya salad 8/10. Tom Yum Soup was a little weak 6.5/10. Not tom yum goong enough. Thai Milk Tea 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

One of the best Thai food! - Best pork bone soup provides well-balanced multiple flavors. Strongly recommend! - Stir fry crispy pork with water spinach is so yum to serve with rice. - Green papaya salad itself is so freshly appetizing. However, too much deep fried side dishes in the combo deal. - Raw prawn salad is little bit spicy which to some extent other ingredient's flavor

Potentially the best Thai restaurant that I have been in a very long time, specially in CBD. Self order is effortless, they have free wifi to make sure you have connectivity in a basement level restaurant. Quantity is good for one person, one plate of Pad thai would only be good for one person. But food is priced very ambitiously to not seem expensive. Staff is humble.

A great place overall! The best dish of the night was the pork skewers for me. It was soft and tender, it also melts in your mouth. The sauce that came alongside it was a great match as well. The noodles were good as well however it was a tad bit spicy for a level 1 spice. The squid was mediocre and the squid tentacles were not cleaned. It was hard to eat and whatever was on the squid tentacles were quite a turn off. I’ll most probably be back.

Always love this place for all their dishes on the menu, fast service as well as the spiciest soup noodles in town, ever. The fact that it opens till late over weekends (compared to other local businesses around Melbourne CBD) & offers discounts for cash payments makes us keep coming back here oftentimes.

Delicious meal and wide options to chose from. My highlight is ordering Level 7 nano spicy tom yum. Although it was not as spicy as I expected, it was tasty with a hint of sweetness. Overall, an enjoyable meal.

Had a really pleasant experience at Dodger Paidang. The Thai food was very delicious, cooked very well and price was actually great. We ordered satay chicken, green curry, pad Thai and roti bread. All of the dishes came out at a reasonable time. The robot was a cool thing to bring out the food, it is a gimmick experience that's all. I really do recommend you check out this restaurant if you are looking for delicious food that you won't have to wait for it for too long.

Very busy Thai restaurant, easy ordering and food was very quick to come out. Very tasty and generous portions sizes made to be shared.

Grabbed takeaway so can’t rate service, can definitely rate the food however. We ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Crying Tiger Beef and Devil Tom Yum. Chicken Pad Thai was authentic, perfect balance of flavours and a decent sized serve. Crying Tiger Beef was tender, cooked to perfection and well flavoured. House made chilli fish sauce was a perfect match for the beef, making for a damn good dish. Tom Yum was level 2 spicy, it had a fair kick to it. Quality ingredients, authentic taste and one of the best Tom Yum I have had in Melbourne. Overall I rate Dodee Paidang as one of the best Thai restaurants in the CBD, highly recommend a visit as they do some damn decent deals.

Had the combo 1, which was their Tom yum noodle soup and a pork skewer. The soup was incredibly good; spicy and delicious. Everything (meatballs, cakes, tendon) in the soup was flavorful and texturally interesting. The pork skewer was also delicious, but the soup really stole the show for me. The ambience transports you in time and place and the staff was very friendly (including the robot that brought the food!). Highly recommend.

Everything was delicious, we could have definitely gone for a spicier level of Tom Yum in the noodles but I definitely enjoyed it all Staff here are very nice but very little interaction is required with them as cutlery is self service and you order from the QR code on the table. Out of business control however the atmosphere is a little too loud if it’s busy you will have to raise your voice a little, overall we still had a very good time! What we ordered: Variety Tom Yum Noodle (with egg noodles and standard spice level) BBQ Pork Neck Pork Mince in Basil Chilli Sauce Salted Fish Fried Rice Som Tum Corat (Papaya Salad) Salmon Salad

Very good experience here Soft crab was not good as Swanston street one. But first time try stick rice with durian . OMG. So good. No service here. As fast food. It’s good . It’s busy maybe the reason. Good to have a try. Not high recommend.

This restaurant is very popular, there is usually a line to get in, but the service was quick and the portions are big. The atmosphere is nice but the food was a bit disappointing. I was expecting authentic Thai food but I got a very sweet massaman curry and an average stir fry. The flavours and aromas of the curry were nice, though. Overall, the food is ok but I wouldn't come back.

Best Thai food outside of my own kitchen! Nice chill spot with live band and opens late nights! Highly Recommended to take Thai food lovers and visitors. They don’t take bookings but if you go a little earlier than dinner time, there may be a slight wait only.

This place is amazing! Best tom yum noodles in Melbourne. Tastes exactly like what you get on the streets of Thailand, very authentic. I tried level 2 spiciness, which was fine for a small bowl but made me cry when I tried a big bowl. The soup stock is made of pork ribs, which is rare and gives it that depth of flavour. Must come back and try everything else on the menu!

Best Thai. The best Thai I have had to date. Some wait time as it takes no reservations but we’ll worth it. Great vibe, service is decent but can’t deal with the food. Green curry is on point, coconut is light and fluffy, pad Thai is fantastic and soft shell is amazing. DEFINITELY WORTH CHECKING OUT.

The Fried Pad Thai Wonton is the best Thai dish ever! It has the right amount of flavour and texture, a very well balanced dish. It is my first time eating a wonton dish cooked in a Pad Thai way — absolutely tasty!

Located in the basement in a lane way off of Little Collins Street, you would need to know this restaurant is here. Hubby and I ventured down at 6.30pm on a Thursday evening and we were quickly seated, there was plenty of space at that time but it us common for queues to form outside at busy times. You can't make a reservation. As mentioned, the restaurant is in a large basement and there is a lift. The menu is very extensive. I opted for the Tom Yum whilst hubby chose the duck red curry. My Tom Yum was very spicy with a generous amount of prawns, however, I could have done without the lemon grass which I had to keep picking out of my mouth. Hubby said his duck curry was nice but could have done with some vegetables. You place your order via an app and the food is delivered by robots, which is very cool. They offer a 10% discount for cash.

Great tasting Thai food, hidden in the basement off Little Collins St. Could be hard to locate at the start Highly recommend the soft shell crab curry alongside the Tom Yum fried rice and pad see ew. Drinks are a hit with some nice variations. Mango sticky rice dessert to top it off. Can be quite packed during peak times and wait on food. Value: portion sizes have decreased since we last visited (3-4 weeks prior) but flavour still spot on.

Good customer service and better varieties of Thai foods. This place looked quiet from out but a complete shock when entered underground, more than 100+ customers. Liked their spice level mentioned on menu card to decide food for our ease.

Dodee Paidang is our reliable, go to Thai restaurant for hawker style food! Food is consistently authentic and the service is efficient. Long queues don’t last long. If you’re able to go on a Saturday evening, live music starts at 7:30pm on the dot. Always the combination of food and vibe. Enjoy this gem!

Enjoyed a taste of Thailand. The Tom yum noodle soup was unique and flavourful. A clear type broth which was different to the Malaysian style Tom yum I've had. This was more acidic and sour. Very nice! We also tried the squid which was cooked perfectly. The papaya salad was what you'd expect. Serving size was great and I thought level one spice was a nice little hit but not very spicy. I also like how you can choose different type of noodles. We came on a weekend around 2pm there was a small queue but only had to wait about 5 minutes. Service was quick and surprisingly friendly - we received some smiles.

I haven't eaten much Thai food, so I'm not sure if it's all this good, but WOW! This might have been some of the best food I've eaten in Melbourne. Tasty, fresh, flavoursome, reasonable price, incredible service, it was an experience I will happily return to again and suggest others go as well

We had lunch here. Overall, the dining experience was great with delicious food. However, there are a couple of areas that need improvement. Firstly, the bathroom could have been cleaner. Additionally, the green curry could use more flavor and had a watery consistency. On the bright side, the pad thai was exceptional. Just a heads up, there was an extra charge for the weekend.

A busy Thai restaurant just within walking distance from flinders station, Need to be waited to be seated. I will give 5 stars if the waitress was the one who served us, but instead we been told to ordered from QR and the robot cat brought our foods, so really not much customer service experienced while eating here. Cant put a note to make our food extra spicy when ordered from QR. So ended up with not so spicy food. And all of their base soup are made from pork, so if u not eating pork there is not much choice to try.

Mixed feelings about this restaurant. The place is huge and nice but the food and service is a bit of a hit and miss. We had to wait a long time to be seated which was okay coz we knew it when we queued up. Ordered a couple of dishes. The soft shell crab curry was amazing and came quickly. However, we had to wait another hour for the other dishes and for the steamed rice to be served. It’s ridiculous. I don’t get why some places serve you dishes at such a long staggered time period. The beef curry that came an hour after was terrible. The meat was so tough. You’d think after waiting for that long that they really have cooked it well enough. Anyway, I’m sure the owner will respond to this review coz they don’t seem to be able to take criticisms well.

Came here after hearing a lot of people talking about it. It is hard to find but it is very large down stairs we had a pram but you can get the lift from the hotel next door to the basement level. The food was pretty good actually. I would 100% come back here again. I would order more spring rolls next time. Also the crispy pork was amazing .

Food is very tasty but not quite authentic Thai. The noodle soup was soggy (over-boiled) for my taste. The pork skewers were delicious. Price is average for the servings. Service is fast and the atmosphere feels like a typical food court.

One of the finest Thai restaurants in Melbourne! The standout feature is its underground setting, and a charming robot serves the delectable dishes. The flavors and portion sizes are excellent, making the dining experience thoroughly enjoyable. Can't wait to return!

Highly recommend you try their extensive, tasty menu! Their vegetarian pad see ew was very tasty and had a good balanced of veggies. Was just a bit too sweet. Think they brought us a mango drink instead of a ginger beer but didn’t complain as we like both drinks. The robot waiter delivered one of our dishes which was fun! Although the music it plays was a bit distracting.

My favourite restaurant in Melbourne by far. Fried rice with pineapple and seafood is a plate you cannot miss, so delicious! Tried also fried rice with other meats and all were beautiful. Asian beers made the plates even more enjoyable. Great atmosphere, service and live music most dinners. Love it, wish we had one in Brisbane!

As a fan of Thai cuisine, like many others, I’ve always appreciated this well-loved and famous Thai franchise. However, I must say, the Boxhill location stands out even more. Their attention to detail and consistent quality make it a notch above the rest.

We waited in line for nearly 2 hours and instead they took 2 groups from the back of the line, maybe they knew them. There was also a couple infront of us, patiently waiting too. We questioned them why they were not taking customers from the front? They just apologized but didn’t explain. Frustrated we left hungry. Don’t waste your time unless you know the staff. I would never go back there!

Oh. My. Goodness. Went there in a group of 6. Ordered way too much. At least that's what it would have seemed like if you'd seen the amount of food splayed out on the table. But it was so good that we finished it all. * I am not Thai so I cann't vouch for the authenticity, but this place was recommended to me by a Thai friend who says that this is about as good as it gets!

Really salty food, and we ordered Stir fry noodles with Beef, couldn't see any BEEF. Don't know why they're always busy ??? And bad attitude from the owner, don't want take feedback from the customer to improve but being sarcastic instead, good luck with your restaurant too. Using the Covid-19 to make yourself as a Victim, this crisis is no excuse for poor quality and poor customer service. And for anybody reading the shop owners reply, this is indicative of the level of service you can expect.

The pad ped chicken and the whole fried fish was beyond delicious! The place was very very busy on a Monday night, and the service was very hurried. At one point one of the servers actually came to pick my menu up and took it away despite me telling her I’d like to hold on to it to order more food. Nevertheless, I will be back because the food was so delicious. I wish they would work on the service standards though. But highly recommended for fast, reasonably priced and tasty meals.

The waiting is too long. They have a maximum limit of 20 people at a time in a big space but they have more than 40 people cramped up in one place waiting for a table. Very busy basement Thai restaurant. We had to wait for approx 30 minutes for a table for 2 but once we ordered, the food came quite quickly. The crispy pork belly left a bit to be desired but the curry and stir fry were delicious. This place reminds me of a busy eatery in Bangkok. (Translated by Google) One of the must-eats in Melbourne. The business is super good. Reservations are not accepted. Remember to wait in line first. There will be live bands playing at night. The overall taste is spicy. The air conditioning in the basement is not enough. The waiters are very kind. They like their lemon fish the most. They are sour and fresh, and the taste is very positive. Friends who ca n’t eat too spicy should pay attention, because his spicy is really spicy !!! But you ca n’t stop it, Very mouthwashing, I recommend groups to dine, you can order more dishes to share together, have visited many times, the dinner is also very suitable, the restaurant space is very large, a restaurant that is really recommended, you will not regret it (Original)

In my opinion one of the best Thai restorants in the CBD, the food is really good and there’s a plenty of options in the menu! I highly suggest to book or come with time at the peak hours because usually there’s a waiting line! Also the place is located in a basement and the phone reception is not good, and the place doesn’t have wifi! ?

The food is decent actually I'm surprised that the serving is quite huge as normally Thai restaurant have quite small food serving. We order a number of dishes like tomyum, Pad Thai, crab omelette, sliced beef.

  • 2/5 Colleen D. 2 years ago on Google
Don't understand what the fuss is about this place! Service was good but the food was strictly average. For a restaurant that is listed among the best Thai restaurants in Melbourne, the food is barely among the best. The Massaman Curry was watery and the veggies undercooked, while the duck fried rice lacked flavor. If you're looking for good Thai food, look somewhere else in the CBD

Delicious Thai located in the heart of Melbourne. We come here regularly and the serving are great, flavoursome and seasoned well, the food is always on point. One of the best (if not the Best) Thai street eats in Melbourne. Boat noodles will bring you all the way back to Bangkok. There’s a reason why this place is always jam packed! Especially not being able to travel, come here have a bowl of boat noodles or Thai desserts or drinks on Weekends after 9pm while listening to Thai live jams and you’re in Thailand for the next few hours. Great food with always friendly service.

Very modern basement restaurant with online ordering via Mr Yum (connect to their wifi) and 2 robots to deliver to the table. The famous noodle bowls are huge and very generous with seafood. Even level 1 was quite hot so I would advise any first time to try the lower levels as condiments such as chilli oil and powder are available at the self serve stand to add on if needed. We ordered the seasonal fish special which was great but had quite a kick of spice with no chillies on the menu. We loved the coconut mousse, coconut milk ice cream and mango sticky rice desserts too.

Went here to try the spicy noodles since I love spicy food. Ordered the hottest one on the menu (Super Nova) and it did not disappoint. It wasn't that spicy at first but it definitely builds the more you eat. My friends that weren't that into spice ordered other things that looked great too. The only thing I took a star off for was that my noodles weren't that hot temperature-wise. They used the robot waitress to send the food to us but we were so far from the kitchen that I think my noodles were almost room temp by the time they got to me. Also note that you'll have a long wait if you don't arrive before 6:30.

It’s actually open over the Christmas/New Year period despite what Google says. Take note of the spice level though, we got the level 3 Tom yum noodles and it was so spicy (I’d like to think my spice tolerance is pretty high…). Staff were absolutely nice though and got us the non spicy soup. Despite that, the food is amazing!

  • 4/5 Shirley L. 2 years ago on Google
We ordered the dodee noodles level 2 and level 5. Level 5 is really spicy and you would sweat and burn eating it, but worth it as it is delicious. The noodles were springy, pork ribs were tender and we enjoyed the spiciness and portion was good as well. However, we didn’t quite like some of the other ingredients in the dish. The fried wanton skin wasn’t as crispy and tasted a little stale. The mock sausages also tasted a little odd, might be better to replace that with minced pork. Green curry was decent but for that, the portion was really small.

Great lively basement eating hall. It is busy around 6pm onwards for dinner. I recommend getting here early to secure a seat/table/spot in the queue. It's self-service for cutlery, water and bowls. The robot waitstaff are a fun novelty but could also possibly be a hazard as they could knock into your chair if you sit too far from the table! Plus the restaurant gives you a 10% discount for paying cash on the spot, and purchases over $50 can be claimed for the current Melbourne Money promotion!

The variety noodles I had were among the best I've had in Melbourne, full of flavour highly recommend!! Tip: I can handle spicy foods pretty well and level 2 was borderline safe for me. I did try level 3 a few days later and I couldn't eat more than a few mouthfuls.

The green curry was sooo good, definitely coming back for this. The spicy pork bone soup is impossible to eat without using your hands, so it gets a bit messy, but the flavour with the lime and spice was on point. The spicy Dodee noodle was bit too spicy for me even on level one, but the ingredients tasted great. Thai milk tea was also very nice.

Ravishing place if you wanna experience. I loved the ambience of this place. I have never had Thai food before and it's quite prominent to try something new at a renowned place so that your experience and first impression won't be bad. I reckon you definitely should give this place a whirl.

For a casual cafe hidden down a flight of stairs, down an alley, this was an amazing find. Buzzing and busy. Great service, including a robot waiter. We shared a really tasty flat rice noodles with crispy pork and cocktails. Live music too. (earlier, we missed it). Worth finding!

Second visit after the first attempt with a long line at 6 pm. This time I arrived at 2.30pm, their kitchen will close at 3 pm. Friendly staff arranged me to order and pay at the bar before seated. About 15 tables are still seated at that time mainly small groups. Robot delivered the dishes to my table. Green curry was just right and the stir fry was slightly too sweet.

Great place to have an authentic Thai food in the heart of Melbourne. We visited this place to catchup with an old Uni mates. Feels buzzing and alive. We are quite early, if you are late there will be a long queue. If you pay with cash you get 10% discount, that's a great deal.

Great food and lots of options to choose from. There are meat, seafood, and vegetarian options. Choose from the many varieties of noodle, rice, grill, and soup dishes. The restaurant is busy but was able to accommodate our party of 9 after a short wait. The food was nicely presented and didn't take long to arrive. Food is served by their staff as well as robot cats. The staff are attentive and get any extra bowls and cutleries required, and clear our table regularly. Food was flavoursome; you can expect a delicious blend of sweet, sour, and spicy kick depending on your dish. You can specify the spicy level when ordering, we got medium and that was pretty spicy. Each dish generally come with sauce which compliments the dish. Wash this down with a refreshing Thai milk tea.

Hands down the best Thai restaurant in Melbourne. Have been coming to Dodee for years now and they’ve never ever disappoint. Close your eyes and order blindly, you will end up with a table of good food I promise. Service is not the best but the quality of food is enough to give it a 5 star. My personal favourite is the stewed pork leg, extremely tender and savoury, drenched in sauce yumsss

A little too crowded during dinner time with quite a long queue but fast. The staffs were friendly and quick whenever we have requests or needed something. Food was amazing, been there more than 5 times and the quality and taste are the same. Kid friendly too as not all food on the menu are spicy. If you love spicy food, this one’s for you as you can always ask for red chillies. Water bottle is available too and easily accessible to customers so you won’t be forced to order drinks.

The restaurant seems always full during lunch time, but they have many tables to accommodate a lot of people, small or big group. The waiting time is not too long either. You have to order online and very common no phone signal since it’s in basement, but don’t worry, they provide free wifi. Your order won’t be prepared till you paid the order. You can pay by credit card (with surcharge) or by cash (get discount and go to the counter). Your order could be served to you by the servants or by the robot (it shows ur table). It’s cool! Self service for the chilli. We ordered spicy pork bone soup. And this is the second time we had it. The soup was very fresh and tasty. Though it’s bone soup, it has plenty meat. Would prefer the meat to be cooked a bit longer so it would be very tender and fell off the bone easily. The first time we tried it was very tender. The Som Tum Thai - green papaya salad was fresh and tasty too. Green papaya was a bit bitter this time, but still ok. The steamed barramundi with lemon juice was fresh, tasty and yummy. It came with broccoli. The fish was melted in the mouth, very soft. The fish was big too, enough for 6 people. The crispy pork belly with Chinese broccoli was superb! Big chunk of crispy pork stir fry with Chinese broccoli and oyster sauce, Yumm! Bbq pork neck was well marinated and grilled. The meat was tender. The fried rice was nice and big portion. You can choose the meat. Vegetable and tofu, chicken, beef (same price). Crispy pork, prawns, seafood (extra price). Would recommend the Pad See Ew, my son loves it. Though the portion is much less than before. Noodle soups are nice too. If you dare, try the super nova level of spice 🤪 mine is only devil level. Pad Thai is average I think. Sticky rice durian, very small serve of durian 😅 Overall, I like the food here and will still come here again.

Super fresh tasty Thai food. If you are looking for more authentic Thai which keeps to traditional flavours and ingredients then look no further, so GOOD!! If you want expensive western style Thai keep looking. It’s busy because it’s the real deal and you normally find more Thai people here than westerners, which to me is a great sign. Food comes out quick and the staff are busy but very attentive. Best Thai I’ve had in a looooooong time!

Dodee Paidang serves good authentic Thai food. No fusion. We liked the Resturant which was situated on the basement level. Resturant was clean, bright very spacious with plenty of dining tables. There is a also a bar with limited range of Alcohol. Service was ok. This place was designed for less personal human service and more self service. Food was ordered via your phone by scanning the QR code on the table to see the menu and food was delivered by Dodee the robot, which I thought was pretty cool. Good place and recommended.

This is a hidden Thai restaurant in the alleyway of little Collins st. They are constantly busy but can still get a table. You order through an app and then get your order delivered by a robot. We had the duck massaman curry, steamed rice & vegetarian spring rolls. The curry was so creamy and the duck was very tender. It was also enough to share between two people. Keen to try more of the dishes next time!

I got the Dodee variety with tom yum soup. I got level 3 spiciness for the soup and it was already pretty spicy. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water, and if you want something spiciest it goes up to level 7. There certainly is a large variety of ingredients in there, most of them being some form of meat, meatballs or massive chunks of meat. The meat isn’t the softest i’ve had but is pretty tender and tasty. The collagen was really soft and easy to bite through which isn’t always the case when I eat out. Though i personally felt that while the soup was spicy, it was a bit lacking in flavour, it’s not as sour as other soups i’ve had. The meat flavour was also good but not the best. But the portion was huge, you’ll certainly be full. All for under $20. We also got the chicken sticks/satay which was alright. It’s well seasoned, and you can taste the sweetness of the satay sauce with the black pepper they used. Though the chicken was relatively tough, but somehow juicy on the inside.

We choose this Thai food for our first meal when we arrive Melbourne, when we arrive the tables are seated at least half full at 6 around, you need use the store wifi cause they r underground, order through QR code and pay directly, the green curry is delicious, soft crab is also good, tender inside but crispy outside, satay chicken kebab not bad, and the pho just ok, BTW, the Thai milk tea is sweet than expected.

Genuine Thai experience! The staff were super friendly, helping us navigate the menu. My all-time favorite is the fried fish with tamarind sauce – it's a flavor explosion! Decided this time to try fried prawn – absolutely yummy. You can order via QR code by connecting to their WiFi, or you can head to the front and order at the bar. There are so many non alcoholic drinks as well, love the virgin mojito and milk tea. Would suggest to dine-in before 12pm or after 1pm as there will be long queue, although you get to sit quickly. No bookings required you can walk in. Overall, can’t get enough of the delicious choices here! 🌶️🍤🇹🇭

We visited this restaurant for a late lunch during our stay in Melbourne, it's located close to the CBD as such easily accessible from most tourist spots. As we were past the usual lunch hour, we didn't have any wait times. We got the chicken fried rice alongside panang curry (which comes with rice) and both items were great. The service was also quite prompt. Highly recommend this place if you are craving Thai cuisine in melbourne

My friends and I tried the Thai milk tea, pad Thai (chicken, beef, and sea food), and mango sticky rice, and it was a blast. Before we went to the restaurant, we'd actually been craving the following food, and it did not disappoint us. We plan to go back and try the other menu
