Happy Island is supposed to be the perfect place but I have to say a new management plan and improvements plan is required. It’s a nice location and beautiful place to visit, the stuff are sometimes aware and some are not. We booked our tickets in advance and weather disappointed us and we spoke to the management and they offered us a complimentary ticket that can be used anytime. I have to say that was an amazing thing. We never went inside the island but from outside it looked good but a lot of improvement can be done. Tickets are affordable I can say compared to other places. I will say visit this place in summer and I wish they open Thursday to Sunday that was going to be fun.

I really enjoyed my day with my daughter. The lockers are awesome. It says online, no coolers or food allowed. However, everyone pitching had coolers and coldrinks and food. Some of the boards warn that no under 1.4m children allowed however, no one checks that, I'm just scared someone gets hurt. The shops there are very expensive but I honestly spent 5 hours here and had fun like a kid again.

The slides are awesome, food is a problem, a plate of mogodu for 1 person is R80, that is if you eat before everyone else is hungry after that you only get half cooked chips, you have to buy everything including water, you change in the toilet, no benches or chairs there, not even hooks inside the toilets, the line to the awesomest rides is like the post office's 350 quee, for me the best attraction was the waves, it's only thrice in one day, 11,1 and 3 only, the ciders like Belgravia are R35, I ordered 2 Happy Island cocktails at R40 each. I tried buying sodas for my babies but they were sold out by then. My kids had a blast but I feel like hospitality is an issue.

I had a really fun time over here. Perfect for children as well. The slides are really exilerating, all of them different but equally fun. There are some smaller slides for little children. The only thing I was not happy about is that the slides do not work during power outages. This is 2 and a half hours wasted. Make sure to either plan to have lunch during this time or go on a day when there is no load shedding in the area. Phenomenal water park. Can't wait to visit again!

We had an amazing experience with the kids on Christmas Eve 2021. The place is well kept with plenty of activities to do. We were entertained all day. The lawns are well maintained. The pools are clean. The mechanical Beach takes the cup!!!! It was a truly amazing experience!!!

Very bad experience Let me break it down: 1. Loadshedding - How can rides be off due to loadshedding?Surely by now you should have alternative power seeing that loadshedding is here to stay with us? 2. People walking around with tubes, should lifeguards not be in control of this? If I get off a ride, the tube must be taken from me and given to someone in the line(Warmbaths and Sun City follow this protocol ) 3. Lifeguards nonexistent , every ride I went on I hardy seen a lifeguard on duty...it was free for all

Best day for three whole family. Best slides. Great donuts. Food is sold inside. Bathrooms too far. Had so much fun. Waves 🌊 the best part of this place. My daughter's favorite animal giraffe statue seemed so real . The place accommodates all ages.

Another hidden gem in Gauteng! They made no mistake in naming it the "happy" island because it delivers just that. If you're into water park, this is by far on of the best. Reasonably priced and delivers a memorable experience. The water slides are phenomenal! Each one needs to be done more than once. I recommend the Typhoon! Awesome for thrill seekers! The staff is friendly and the management is helpful. I love the park's locker system👌🏽There is a reasonable number of food stalls and an accessory shop by the entrance. The only issue with Happy Island comes with the park's popularity... The lines are a drag and thus the food stalls can feel abit slow. Either than that, I found absolutely nothing to critique about the place. Bring your family or friends, either way, Happy island is one of those places you need to experience... (more than once!)

Fantastic place for kids & adults to have fun in the sun. There’s variety with the slides for the daring & not so brave with lots of lovely sitting areas on the lawn & benches. The food options are reasonable, standard fast food, the facilities are adequate but a bit of maintenance is required for the place to look as good as on the website.

Great day out for the kids. Lots of different slides so there wasn't a lot of waiting in queues. Well worth it. You can bring in your own gazebos, chairs etc. Note:no food or beverages allowed. There are food and drinks vendors within the park. There is a variety of food from Chip 'n dip to braai to fish and chips to burgers. Something for everyone.

The place looked so dirty, not well maintained. Some of the water slides were so dry and not enough water for the kids to slide to the other side. The waves come in different intervals, two hours apart. The swimming area were the waves happen(which is a popular pool) for kids the safety of people is comprised, as other kids were not in the safety vest and the was an influx of kids in the pool. The management must control the number of people or kids going into the wave pool, especially when they have run out of the safety vests. The eating area was so dirty and the food didn't taste that good from the Halaal restaurant and Sausage salon.

If there were negative stars I’d rate it negative 5. I didn’t even swim because the food took a whole 3 hours and even got the wrong order. Yet alone nothing was working the pools were dirty and the place is clearly not maintained. It’s not happy island is sad island. What a depressing place.

I had a really good time, it was lots of fun. The layout of the slides are great as you don't need to walk far from one slide to the next. If you like an adrenaline rush it is the place to be. The slides are high and fast. My only negative critique is the lawns are not well kept, the grass is long and the flower beds full of weeds. We entered 09:00, opening time, but the first slide only opened at 09:40. Not a lot of bathrooms IF there are at all!? The two big slides the Behemoth bowl and the Big speaker are only allowed to be slide on if you are a group of 4 people. The behemoth bowl was out order as well. The mechanical sea is only switched on at 13:00.

We the rides where fun and my kids had a fantastic time. Going this time around was good as it wasn't packed. On the down side there aren't many changing rooms the toilet was clean but had a bit of smell, so the best is to come wearing your swim suits to avoid changing in tiny toilets. If you overlook all that the place still remains a fun place to go chill.

Awesome slides and fun for all, young and old. Some crazy adrenaline inducing slides. Kids had an absolute blast. Downside, should allow people picnic baskets in. Food offerings are not great, and service absolutely dismal. Warm cooldrinks. Have to wait almost an hour for sausage saloon and not even busy queues.

A beautiful place to relax and have fun with family. One has to be there early to avoid long queues for tickets. The place gets full over holidays. Parking is properly managed though. However, not a place for the impatient person (s). Food and drink stalls available at site. It's advisable to take chairs, sitting mats etc. The ablutions are okay and clean. One annoying thing I observed is that some people tended to hog the riding tubes thereby denying others a chance on the river. It was a different experience from the other water parks too. Great.

Was there for the soft opening. Very disappointed. The place just looked like a old worn out farm with some rides stuck to it. Most of which didn't work properly. Will not recommend it. You get very little value for a lot of money.

What an amazing place to go to on hot summer days. We finally have a beach in JHB. This place is fantastic. The rides are amazing and it is every child's dream. It is great for family outings and it caters for every age group. Myself and my family totally loved it. The kids couldn't even stop talking about it. I still rave about it and am recommending it to all my friends and family.

We were a group of teenagers and adults and all had a lovely time. We got there around 11am and lines were short however it got very busy after 1pm. Grounds were well kept and clean, all the rides were open some of course more adrenaline pumping than others but enough to satisfy everyone. Check it out!

The place is lovely and the atmosphere is out of this world. There's lots of rides and games for kids and adults to play. You only pay the entrance fee and enjoy all the activities inside at no extra cost. There's a variety of food outlets inside the theme park to choose from since they don't allow visitors to bring their own food. Alcohol is also sold inside the theme park. However my food was cold esp the braai meat.

Visited Happy Island on Haritage Day 24 September 2022. We not allowed to take soft drinks in but Alcohol is sold at the venue. We couldnt get a tube for the lazy River after the visiting taxi and bus passengers kept the tubes for themselves for the day. Will never visit the venue again. Not worth the entrance fee of R210

One of the hugest waterparks in Johannesburg. Amazing slides, features and rides. Happy Island has rides for all age groups. Best features include lazy river, wave pool & massage pool. Brilliant arrangements in massage pool - relieving and relishing. It also has many food chains, fast food centers and small place for shopping swimming items. Great place to spend day out with family and friends.

The water park rides aren't working due to a power outage because management didn't pay their utility bill. It has nothing to do with loadshedding. We are in a queue trying to get our refunds but management is cooking up some excuses and not wanting to refund the customers.

It was my first and my last, The videos doesn't match the real experience, the life guards are rude and not helpful, the type of food sold on site is craze(chicken feet) No spur at all you wait for so long to buy ugly food that is cover with fly's flying around no ice we had to wait for, no tubes was a fight and a battle to get one. With such a big place you would think they have generators but guess what they don't so the 220 you pay is not worth it at all i can rather go to the zoo then to this place again. The staff cloths look horrible old and faded. The chines people that own this place really dont care as long as they making the money they happy .

Nice rides. Most were working. Foods expensive as well as cold drinks and water at R 30 for 1,5 lt. A rip off. Plastic grass and other areas a bit tatty and worn. Lots of pools with loose tiles and slippery from lack of chlorine or cleaning. Entrance price at 199 per person.

If there was a no star, I would've chosen it. I had a terrible experience at Happy Island. These are some things I've experienced there: 1) The grass is extremely long and unkept. 2) Only 2 shops were open during peak time and so the lines were very long. 3)Most of the staff were very rude 4)There is not 1 heated pool. 5)There are very little Covid Protocols taken.

What a gem right in JHB. Absolutely loved being here, highly recommend if you want to entertain kids of all ages. There is enough space for families to picnic whilst enjoying the many water activities, the selection of food stalls isn't great and also not being allowed to bring your own snacks is a bore. You spend a lot of time tryna find something to eat. The lockers are safe so we kept all our belongings there and you can shower afterwards

The place is not well maintained. Doesnt make sense to not bring your own food because you stand for hours in the food line. On a full day, you can wait for over an hour for a tube which you have to return once you done and stand in line for another tube. I wasn't impressed although the slides and water entertainment was fun. Just be weary of the lazy river or crazy river, water is too low so you can scrape your bum on the floor. I had a bum burn for days. The toilet's are disgusting and very small, almost like a cubicle. Not well maintained at all and had a bad stench. There are many showers and no doors. Not a place I would visit in a hurry again. 3 stars for the water slides.

  • 4/5 Joshua N. 1 year ago on Google
Overall it was a very nice experience, the rides were fun. The only complaint is when it came to the trumpet ride, it mentions 4 people but does not say it is required to be 4 people, no less. We were not aware of it and the guy who let people through let other groups of 4 pass us without looking for one person to join us. After we mentioned it then he started doing that for others which resulted in us doing it ourselves. So our whole experience to get to use the ride was an extra 40mins

Great variety in pool selection and nice areas for kiddies. However the food available is terrible. We ordered burgers which were ALL so badly undercooked. Still red inside. Also the quality of the meat used for the Patty's are horrible. Full of hard pieces you can't chew. Sausage saloon sausages taste wierd. Also the toilet facilities are dirty and there is no toilet paper in any of the stalls. The food though really needs a lot of attention.

  • 3/5 Lindani M. 2 years ago on Google
A great place to be but we had a bad family experience last. There's absolutely no supervision on the kid's slides and pool areas to restrict adults and teenagers from injuring kids and babies who want to feel safe and enjoy their space. You find adults hogging the children's Amazon slide. My daughter was injured by two adults who landed on her as she was getting off one of the Amazon slides. It's extremely appalling to see such poor management that risks the safety of children.

Happy Island was more than what I expected. We had a super fun day out. The rides are exhilarating, and there are a lot of rides to choose from. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there was lots of different food to choose from. It was relatively quiet, I'm sure because schools are open again, which was great cause there were no queues. We even got a workout with climbing all the stairs to get to the rides. Will definitely be back!

No covid protocols. 1000's of people on top of each other with no masks, no sanitizing points . Food places and bathrooms no sanitation or wearing of masks. Definitely a super spreader event.
