Although
the
doctors
seem
excellent,
the
clinic
is
run
like
a
no-frills
airline
and
getting
in
to
see
a
doctor
will
be
a
memorable
ordeal
because
the
amount
of
time
it
will
take
and
the
amount
of
stress
it
will
cause
you
if
you
have
questions
about
where
you
can
go
for
any
tests
they
send
you
to
do.
I've
even
been
booked
for
an
appointment
for
a
test
on
a
piece
of
equipment
the
clinic
didn't
own.
However,
if
you're
used
to
the
relatively
low
standard
of
medical
care
in
Quebec,
and
especially
in
Montreal,
that
might
not
seem
like
such
a
big
deal.
Wait
times
here
are
far
beyond
the
norms
for
most
first
world
nations.
It's
hard
to
believe
that
people
have
normalized
what
is
now
a
disorganized
and
at
times
a
frighteningly
inadequate
system
of
public
healthcare.
My
experience
with
the
walk-in
clinic
on
Jean
Talon,
is
that
if
you
don't
arrive
before
7
am,
you
will
not
get
an
appointment.
I
was
told
that
they
were
fully
booked
at
8:10
am
this
morning.
Expect
long
wait
times
for
just
about
everything
(even
if
you
call...especially
if
you
call).
The
problem
is
that
you
can
wait
up
to
20
minutes
and
longer
to
get
through
on
the
phone
because
it's
a
combined
switchboard
for
all
of
their
locations,
and
the
switchboard
appears
to
be
understaffed
at
certain
times
of
the
day.
They
recommend
that
you
go
to
the
location
before
7
am
if
you
would
like
to
see
a
doctor
the
same
day;
when
you
get
there,
you
can
also
expect
to
wait
20
to
30
minutes
for
them
to
simply
take
your
information
to
put
you
on
the
list
to
see
a
doctor
(because
they
usually
only
have
one
staff
member
working
at
this
time
to
handle
the
lineup
of
people
who
showed
up
to
try
to
get
an
appointment).
They
will
message
you
30
minutes
before
the
doctor
is
supposed
to
be
available,
but
when
you
get
there,
you'll
probably
also
wait
a
further
hour
to
an
hour
and
a
half
to
see
the
doctor.
Although
this
might
be
an
improvement
over
the
old
CLSC
system
where
you
could
wait
all
day,
it's
still
a
lot
of
waiting
at
every
stage
of
the
process.
In
general,
the
problem
with
this
clinic
may
be
that
demand
in
the
area
is
too
high
and
that
the
clinic
cannot
adequately
handle
the
volume.
But
it
also
seems
like
they
are
trying
to
run
the
clinic
with
the
minimal
possible
staffing
levels.
The
reception/switchboard
service
seems
to
be
understaffed
at
peak
hours.
They
also
appear
poorly
trained
and
generally
uninformed
about
anything
beyond
their
immediate
duties.
For
instance,
if
you
have
any
questions
about
where
to
go
for
tests
in
the
immediate
area,
I've
found
that
the
reception
staff
is
not
very
well
informed
and
will
give
you
answers
that
waste
your
time
(you
can
get
better
information
at
the
Pharmaprix
located
on
the
ground
floor
of
the
building).
I
think
they
really
would
like
to
be
helpful,
however,
one
of
them
actually
booked
me
for
an
appointment
for
an
ECG
test
at
the
clinic.
The
problem
was
that
the
Forcemedic
clinic
on
Jean
Talon
does
not
in
fact
have
an
ECG
machine,
so
in
effect,
they
actually
booked
me
for
an
appointment
on
a
non-existent
piece
of
equipment.
When
I
arrived
at
the
appointed
time,
I
was
told
by
another
staff
person
that
they
do
not
have
an
ECG
machine
to
do
the
test.
I
asked
where
else
I
could
go
to
get
one.
The
receptionist
directed
me
to
a
nearby
CLSC
that
was
within
walking
distance.
When
I
got
there,
I
was
told
that
they
don't
do
this
test
either.
Shouldn't
the
staff
at
Forcemedic
be
up
to
date
with
this
information?
Wouldn't
that
be
helpful
to
patients?
Actually,
it
would
be
more
helpful
to
patients
simply
to
admit
what
they
don't
know
instead
of
giving
people
misleading
information
that
wastes
their
time.
I
will
mention
that
the
doctor
I
saw
appeared
highly
competent.
It
would
be
a
relief
to
me
to
be
able
to
use
this
clinic
if
it
was
not
such
an
ordeal
trying
to
get
in
to
see
someone.
I
think
systems
like
this
discourage
people
from
seeking
care.
I
can't
imagine
what
you
do
if
you
have
small
children
and
no
car,
let
alone
if
you
have
a
day
job
that
prevents
you
from
devoting
the
necessary
time
to
show
up
and
7
am
and
return
later
in
the
day.
