We
stayed
here
quite
by
accident,
due
to
a
delayed
international
flight.
The
building
itself
is
a
Montevideo
icon
that
lay
abandoned
for
many
years
and
was
renovated/given
new
life.
The
location
couldn’t
be
better,
across
from
the
beach
and
contiguous
to
the
center
of
Carrasco.
Lots
to
commend
the
place
architecturally
and
its
context.
Menu
choices
at
the
hotel
restaurant
and
bar
are
limited
and
expensive—
there
are
very
good
restaurant
and
cafe
options
within
two
blocks
of
the
hotel.
The
room
we
had
(and
there
are
a
variety
of
them;
so
take
this
into
account)
was
spacious,
with
high
ceilings
and
with
a
great
view.
The
negatives
are
primarily
ergonomic
—
lighting
controls
are
nothing
short
of
a
nightmare
to
figure
out
what
lights
they
correspond
to;
the
illumination
of
the
room
is
poor;
the
shower
and
bath
are
very
nice,
but
towel
bars
are
absent
and
no
grab
bars
for
anyone
a
bit
unsteady
on
their
feet;
no
desk
for
anyone
needing
to
work;
and
electrical
outlets
in
the
wrong
place.
We
were
comfortable
for
sure,
but
note
the
shortcomings
in
case
they
are
relevant
to
others.
