Monument to the poet, playwright and diplomat A. S. Griboedov. Established in 1959 on the 130th anniversary of the tragic death of a Russian diplomat in Persia. The monument was erected on Chistye Prudy, although the house where Alexander Sergeevich was born was located on Novinsky Boulevard. At the bottom of the pedestal there are bas-reliefs of the heroes of the famous play “Woe from Wit”. Sculptor Apollo Manuilov. Alexander Sergeevich was a bright personality: a brilliant writer, a talented pianist, a skillful diplomat. The monument stands in a wonderful place - at the beginning of Chistoprudny Boulevard and Muscovites openly love it, often making appointments and appointments “at Griboyedov’s”. The monument is truly very human.

The monument to Griboedov on Chistoprudny Boulevard (Moscow) is a tribute to the grateful memory of descendants to an outstanding compatriot. Alexander Sergeevich Griboedov is a Russian diplomat, poet and playwright, pianist and composer, nobleman, state councilor. Author of the famous play "Woe from Wit". The monument to Griboyedov on Chistoprudny Boulevard in Moscow was solemnly opened in 1959, on the 130th anniversary of the tragic death of the outstanding figure. It is known that Alexander Sergeevich Griboedov died tragically at the age of 34. He was a bright and multifaceted personality: a brilliant writer, a talented pianist, and a skilled diplomat. In the memoirs of contemporaries Griboyedov A.S. – a highly educated and erudite person, pleasant to talk to and incredibly talented. We know Alexander Sergeevich as an outstanding writer. However, in fact, literature for Griboedov has always been just a hobby. His main occupation was public service. This amazing man was killed by religious fanatics by an absurd accident during the destruction of the Russian embassy in Persia (now Iran). Despite the fact that the life path of Griboyedov A.S. was short enough, he managed to leave a noticeable mark both in the field of literary creativity and in the history of the Russian state. In addition to his intelligence, Griboyedov had an aristocratic appearance, was elegant and stately. His wife, Nina Chavchavadze, wore a mourning robe until the end of her days in memory of him. The monument to Griboedov was erected at the beginning of Chistoprudny Boulevard, not far from the exit of the metro station of the same name. The location of the monument in the city of Griboyedov’s childhood was not chosen by chance. Alexander Sergeevich and his family lived for some time a few minutes walk from this place - in house number 42 on Myasnitskaya Street. The monument was completed by sculptor Apollo Aleksandrovich Manuilov and architect Alexander Alekseevich Zavarzin.

There is a large monument to the great writer. The monument amazed me with its scale and precision of drawing. The heroes of Alexander Sergeevich’s works are depicted in an epic and very creative way, whom the sculptor placed almost at the very bottom. The monument is clean, well-groomed, there are benches and a pleasant boulevard nearby. It’s just that the tiles placed crookedly at the monument spoil the entire impression ((

As Valery Yarkho writes, “The Shah Diamond was presented by the Persian prince to the Russian emperor not at all as a gift for the ambassador’s head. This offering had an important, but at the same time purely prosaic purpose. Khosrev-Mirza asked for relief from the burden of indemnity. The prince said Sovereign Nikolai Pavlovich that in order to pay taxes, taxes are collected for years to come, the golden candelabra of the Shah's palace have already been melted into coins, the Shah's wives and courtiers have donated diamond buttons from their outfits to a common piggy bank, but they still managed to collect only eight kurars. In addition to the diamond " Shah,” they also brought: a pearl necklace, two Kashmiri carpets, two dozen ancient manuscripts, sabers in expensive decoration and other “oriental things.”

The author of the greatest work, the phrases from which are disassembled into quotations. What is this only worth. I would be glad to serve, to curry favor is sickening. The sculptor approached the personality very thoughtfully, creating the atmosphere of the book with the characters of the bas-relief at the bottom of the column.
