The Puerta del Salvador dates back to the 1670s and receives its name from the icon of Christ the Savior located above the main arch of the entrance. It is also known as the "Back Door" because it was the domestic entrance to the estate, both for the people who worked on the premises, and for the carts and horses with provisions for the Tsar and his court. Adjacent to the door, you can see the foundations of a series of rooms that constituted the royal pantries, the forage house and the bread house are mentioned, as well as the residence of part of the servants. When Peter I moved the court to Saint Petersburg in the 18th century, this gate became the main entrance to the palace complex and that is why it was decorated with double-headed eagles and the monogram of Peter the Great. Its last restoration is from the beginning of this century. A mandatory visit to the entire Kolomenskoye complex if you travel to Moscow, simply magical, an immersion in the history of the country, exceeding all expectations.

My wife and I often walk in Kolomna Park. Love this place. Walking through the gate, I was amazed by the solid wood from which the shutters were made!

An architectural monument of the 17th century, on the territory of the Kolomenskoye nature reserve. A large territory of the reserve, well-groomed, very green. It’s somehow calm here, as if the rhythm of life has slowed down a little. It’s very nice to take a walk, you can book an excursion. Parking spaces in front of the reserve are available, free of charge.

What beauty and cleanliness there is in Tsaritsino. Such babble! And the honey fair. Such delicious honey. A lot of dried mushrooms. Fresh cranberries and lingonberries. Teas made from herbs and wild berries. Honey from all regions of Russia for every taste and budget. There is a free bus to the metro.

Magnificent museum. Very high level of guides. This is not the first time I have brought students from grades 7-9 here, and not for the purpose of simply entertaining or gawking at unprecedented objects. A visit to the palace provides an excellent basis for a more meaningful study of many subjects of Russian literature (Karamzin’s prose, A. K. Tolstoy’s novel “Prince Silver”): it allows children to feel the spirit of old Moscow, even pre-Petrine, life. And, of course, the figure of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich is so interesting that the children need to be introduced to this man. An incomparable immersion into history in terms of usefulness and interestingness! I usually bring the kids on a full excursion: “The State Chambers and Private Chambers of the Kolomna Palace” - duration 1 hour 50 m, we see both halves of the palace: both the men’s and the women’s. The guides were different each time, but the level of the tour is always consistently high: the text is not memorized, you can feel the personality of the employees, who, of course, are not random people in the museum field. The guys listened with great interest and asked questions not only directly based on the guide’s story, but also on related topics - all questions were given detailed answers. From the negative... This time our trip was a little overshadowed by the complication of the system of entry to the museum: a voucher for a trip for a group is normal, but each child must attach a Muscovite card to the validator, which is located in an impenetrable room located in the wrong room where entrance to the exhibition... This is very inconvenient. Collecting cards from all children or sending everyone through a validator... - it doesn’t matter. You still need to allocate 1.5 - 2 minutes for each child. And no friendly staff can save you: cards must be included! Nevertheless, I recommend everyone to visit this museum. I hope that I will bring the guys here on a regular basis in the future! But perhaps we won’t go on a tour of the historical part of the museum-reserve again: it is uninformative and with an invariable Orthodox bias (miracles, icons, visions, discoveries...). To be fair, I’ll clarify that we chose a short excursion: “The Tsar’s Residence in Kolomenskoye (without visiting museums)”, 45 minutes. Although the children are happy!
