Excellent historic store downtown! Interiors are grand! When it was done in 1901 average Muscovites were too shy to get inside, it was too posh. Eliseev portraits are in various formats in and around the store. Dramatic family life for this guy though. He was too busy to cheat on his wife for very long time, but then by accident met this woman, who was married too, so he said he fell in love, began to live with her, renting 12 room bedroom for her. His many children were dismayed. Moscow store was opened in 1901 and in 1914, aften Grigory traveled to France with his new love, his wife after several failed attempts hung herself using towels. Grigory did not come for funerals and did not send wreath. After that his children totally cut their ties with him, denouncing even nobility status. Coulpe years later revolution broke out, 2 of his sons were shot. Grigory and his love moved to Paris, she died in 1946 and he died couple years after..

You may not be interested in grocery shopping during your visit to Moscow, but that doesn't mean you should skip this market. I did not know what to expect and were awestruck with what I saw. It is the most ornate grocery store ever. Beautiful and historical. The interior is incredibly beautiful and worth seeing, and you're probably going to walk past it on Tverskaya during your other sight-seeing. Good for shopping too. Not touristy. Even if you buy nothing just stop by and visit. They have a very interesting layout so I really enjoy roaming the shelves, looking for some new treat. Do make sure to go all the way to the back of the store - they have a fairly impressive room of liquor back there, and it's not limited to vodka like so many stores in Moscow. Yes, you can get rum, gin, tequila...

It’s so original, what ever you see it’s look so vintage. I love how they preserve the place so well and still running. Just use uber drop right infront. Super convenient.

A surprisingly nice grocery store. The food is good quality, prices are reflecting the quality I guess but even if only buying water, worth visiting that place. Staff is very friendly

Such a gorgeous historic store in the heart of Moscow, a must for a Moscow visitor! The prepared food is okay, but there are many other things you can buy (like chocolate of vodka)
