The
Golovin
estate
in
Potapovsky
Lane,
house
8\12,
building
5
(corner
with
Sverchkov
Lane),
ensemble
of
buildings,
the
main
building
in
the
photo.
For
reference,
Potapovsky
Lane
is
named
after
the
Russian
architect
Pyotr
Potapov.
The
estate
dates
back
to
the
18th-19th
centuries;
work
on
the
house
took
so
long
because
of
the
War
of
1812.
The
estate
was
built
in
the
style
of
classicism
-
the
facade
of
the
Main
building
is
decorated
with
beautiful
white
stone
columns,
brought
together
under
a
triangular
pediment,
and
stucco
medallions.
But
the
real
gate
(you
can
barely
see
it
in
the
photo)
is
made
in
the
Empire
style.
The
estate
was
inherited
(through
the
male
line)
of
the
Golovin
family,
and
at
the
end
of
the
18th
century
it
began
to
belong
to
the
merchant
of
the
2nd
guild
V.
Frolov,
then
to
the
state
councilor
N.
Belyaev
and,
subsequently,
to
his
relatives.
Now
the
Estate
is
home
to
several
government
institutions.
