Great seafood restaurant. Tasty crab and salads, but slow service.

Breathtakingly bad. Negative 5 stars. Worst dining experience of my life. Grilled scallops at $3.90 each were tiny discs of unidentifiable white meat no more than 4mm thick. No scallop roe was on the shell used to serve them. We complained and wait staff stared at us blankly, although the barman did say “sorry” and scuttled off. We asked to speak to the manager, waitress wouldn’t confirm who the manager was or whether a manager was present. Waitress disappeared and eventually returned with a business card and told us to call the number on the card. When we asked her to confirm what the so called scallops were she puzzling told us “here in my country they’re called scallops” we asked what country she was referring to and she says “Australia”. I live in Tasmania and eat wild caught and shop bought scallops regularly and these do not resemble the so called Scallops at Doyle’s. My Aunt & Uncle were also very disappointed with the mornay and kilpatrick oysters, served cold. Honestly have not encountered such pathetic customer service, zero commitment and apparently zero accountability. No offer of a refund or replacement. Left there hungry. Avoid at all costs.

Pretty average food. I had the lobster (700g) with noodles $69 and XO sauce fried pipi (500g)with noodles $35 on Xmas eve. Lobster noodles a little tasteless , need another pitch of salt. Pipi is so small. Ordinary food.

it can get a little busy here and you might need to wait a for a while getting a table... also depends on your luck with the timing of ur arrival. food... as usual... is deliciously cooked. but beware sitting outside at the front... though the rubbish disposal container might seem far enough... depends on the wind direction... you might get a whiff of garbage smell coming from the container... as it is being used by the shops around throughout the whole day... and again... depends on ur luck. =)

Fish and chips at the fish market. How could you go so wrong? Batter was heavy and greasy. Fish was mushy. Only plus side was the decent portion size though couldn’t even finish it.

Is this Doyles? Did not look or taste like Doyles. This place has changed massively, it's run down and the food is mediocre, will never go back there!

We got a seafood platter. The 1/2 lobster and the prawns were overcooked and quite tough. It was also meant to have Singapore crab and ginger crab. It had what i assumed was the ginger crab which came out in a plate covered in the sauce with the 2 cooked halves. When i asked about the other crab, she said one part was the Singapore the other was the ginger. Yeah, in the same sauce right? 2 half crabs, despite the menu description.... Doyle's have truly gone downhill. I would not go to Doyle's again.

Situated at the start (or end) of the internal run of shops, this is the newest shop and, if you want to eat in, the nicest. A decently spaced pleasant atmosphere with a good breeze blowing through. Better than the rest. The fresh food is good but expensive, the prepared food is lacking - the fried rice is poor and the noodles were dry (we ate at 1200 on Sunday - so no excuses). Overall a nice experience, but like most other venues here, for eat in they are driven towards the tourist dollar.

I just had some fresh sea urchin and a beer. It was very good. Not really hard to preparing pretty difficult to ruin, So can’t comment on the rest of the food. Very pleasant service.

Had lunch here and ordered the Seafood platter for 2, Corona and a Rose' wine. The Seafood here tasted fresh and the batter used was light and crisp. The oysters and scallops were excellent and not fishy at all. The octopus was on the chewy side and the calamari was bland on its own so you'll need to have it with tartare sauce. The fish cocktails were delicious but it only came with 3 which was a little bit disappointing. The only thing you'll need to be aware of is that they do have card surcharges (1.1%) and the lines are long so you will have to wait for your food and drinks. Furthermore finding a table is extremely difficult during peak times too. Also the floors and tables are a bit dirty because of how busy it is.

Prominent, front entrance location, looks a bit sad ... Sydney's rock oyster are cheaper in Melbourne, why is that? Oysters cost about 20% more than South Melbourne Market and Queen Victoria Market down south ... 🤔🤔🤔

  • 5/5 Jin F. 3 years ago on Google
Walked in just before lunchtime so it wasn’t too busy yet. Staff were really friendly and helpful, great service. Had the barbecue grilled platter for 2 and a lobster mornay - loved them both and would be glad to swing by again. I would like to try all the different lobster options: garlic, xo, Singaporean chilli etc. The place was starting to get busy when we finished so highly recommend coming slightly earlier to avoid crowds.

Best choice for Oysters fans. Oyster quality is very good. I had ordered Sydney rock in different shops at the same day. Doyles one is the best and also the most expensive. But it is worth the price. Also the customer service is partient when answering the question and giving advice. Grilled seafood is not bad. Good to try. Last but not least, the environment is clean and cozy too.

Very disappointing and most of the food was dried up and overcooked I would not advise anybody to go there you would think being at the fish market it will all be nice and fresh

Tried a variety of the eateries at the Sydney fish markets with a group of friends today. Sashimi, oysters, scallops all very good. Got to Doyle's and it was by far the worst. order 1 piece of battered fish which tasted as though it had been sitting there for a long time. BBQ platter featured chips (ok), salad (wilted), prawns (small, tasteless), scallops (small, tasteless), calamari (average) and also salt and pepper squid which was average. Having to pay extra for tomato sauce was also a disappointment. This experience tainted all the other fine establishment in the markets.

I’ve been to Sydney Fish Market multiple times now. Tried and tested by Buzzfeed’s Worth-it series (famous food hunters), I decided to pop by this nice-looking restaurant as well. As a seafood lover, I ordered a couple of things at the oyster bar- one of it being the Sydney Rock Oysters (sweet) and Tasmanian Oysters (salty). The food inside tasted on par with the other neighboring shops - all equally fresh. However the price was higher by a slight notch. The price is compensated by the better environment of the restaurant, but if you’re just looking for the best deal, any other stall would suffice.

Sharing platter for 4 was definitely enough for 4 adults and 2 children! Quality, variety and taste on the dish was very good.

there wasn’t any live seafood left so we decided to get one of the platters... for a fresh seafood market, that was a lot of frozen seafood, frozen barramundi, frozen shrimp, « freshly shucked » oysters that tasted off, chewy bbq octopus... We also got a $22 sashimi platter, they gave me a 10 piece of salmon. Go next door and you can get freshly sliced octopus, tuna, kingfish, scallop, ect... for half the price. In other words go somewhere else in the markets.

I went there on last Sunday with my family of 4, we have an infant and pram. My husband tried looking for easy pram access in the public area but fail. He cane to me when I buying oyster and sea urchin in this restaurant, I asked them politely if I could dine in but my mum getting some other food outside. The guy sell me oyster said yes it’s alright as long as I get some food there, I bought a chips first and my husband found a desk and wait for us. When I come back with some other food, one of the woman staff came to me and said no outside food. I was shocked but I have asked before. The guy who said allow me to stay said he’s new don’t know too much and ask what did I get from the restaurant I said chips, then he said at least you have to order lobster. I felt so insult seem I’m not getting other food there and everyone starring at me. I was thinking to order lobster there but I didn’t do that and left the restaurant. I don’t blame the guy but I don’t think I will go back to this restaurant anymore.

Lobsters are plentiful and relatively affordable this month so we went to the Fish Markets at Pyrmont to enjoy some. Doyle's was the restaurant of choice simply because the presentation was the best. We had a lobster cooked for us and we also ordered a grilled platter for two. Freshly cooked lobster was delicious, the grilled platter was passable. The overall experience was very positive. Good day out?

The portions were a good size and had good flavor. We tried three types of prawns, two scallops and some John Dory fish that came with five pieces. One Greek salad and a house salad filled in the rest of the cracks in our appetite. It's been 34 years since we've been to Doyles ( last time at Watson's Bay).

Went for the 1st time for my birthday and got 2 Seafood Platters and they were horrible!! The oysters were tiny, couldn’t even see them. Scallops were also tiny. Crab was non existent! The whole 2 platters were just disappointing, tasteless and flavorless! I was gutted for my first time and on my birthday. You think being at the Fish Markets everything would be fresh, large portions and on point with flavor but getting it out of the bay mare and not fresh was also disappointing! My first time at fish markets and Doyle’s and I am gutted!!!

They had a sign 2 for $15 for Sea Urchins. It was only after they charged my card and i lookled at the receipt that I saw that I was charged double the price. I went back and they told me that they tried to rub off the "2 for" part and they are actually $15 each. WTF. It's Christmas eve, they are misleading people and ripping people off, not cool at all.

👍 Best restaurant for South Indian dishes. Worth a try of Biryani. Tried Tandoori Soya today and it was the best I ever had here. Egg65 Biryani was so tasty. Crispy Baby corn was bad seemed like it was not fresh. You should not let your standards drop.
