If you are coming to Yangon, stay here. It trains student hospitality workers so you get top hotel service at hostel prices not the rooms ofcourse but they are clean and well presented. I could not have had a worse intro to Yangon- airline had lost my bag. The staff here were so helpful in contacting the airline telling me where I could get some basic emergency replacements, even providing a charger for my tablet. At a bad time, I will always be grateful for their help.

Staying here was one of the best part of our trip. Little did we know that this hostel was actually a training ground for their students to help them gain first-hand experience in the hospitality industry and each stay will contribute to the funding of this program, providing free education to the local youths in Myanmar! Hence, the students were genuinely sincere, attentive and dedicated to ensure that we have the most pleasant stay possible. Our room was very spacious, clean and nicely set-up with aesthetically minimal and modern design which gave us a cozy vibe. Also, the location of this hostel is excellent. If you are looking for a place to stay in Yangon, look no further.

Fantastic Hostel with an amazing cause!! This hostel provides free education to local youth in the hospitality industry and at the same time offers firsthand practical work experience. If you want to support this incredible cause definitely stay here! Rooms and facilities were very modern, clean and comfortable and the staff are the most extremely polite, friendly and helpful people! I couldn’t recommend this hostel more highly.

Staying at HOOD was one of the best choices ever made. Their service is top-notch and definitely way better than what you would find in many other hotels and hostels. The students and staff working there are honest, humble, and hospitable, and these are values in people which are so hard to come by these days. Throughout my stay, it felt like home away from home. The rooms are impeccably clean and I was extremely amazed by the comfort of the beds and cleanliness of the shared bathrooms. If good service, location and comfort are what you’re looking for, HOOD is definitely a place you would check yourself in. Heading there for the third time soon, and I can’t wait ❤️

WARNING - Prices shown on websites are false, they add charges upon arrival, charge and extortionate amount in exchange fees. Approx 0.31cents per Dollar and you cant avoid it by paying in cash. When challenged we were met with hostility, after securing international exchange rates we were shown to our rooms which were window to window with a school that is very loud all day until 8pm+, breakfast was ok nothing to rave about. We sent our clothes for cleaning and were told on several occasions in 2 hour intervals it would be ready so we spent all afternoon waiting for it to arrive (we could have visited a local attraction in the meantime) it finally arrived in the evening NOT clean and still wet, id probably have been better washing it myself in a bathtub. There are better places for the price we paid.

It’s fair with the price. It has a long stairs going up. Staffs are friendly and helpful.

Prices change day by day. Dormitory has gone up from 7usd in Nov, to 12usd in Feb. I prefer to stay at local hotels for the same kind of money. Same breakfast every day. Need better maintenance (repairs).

Room are clean. But you could find some difficulties to use bathroom if the electricity cut off in the early morning. Their own generator runs at 7.30 am.

Latest update:20 July 2022 I have stayed here between 01 & 03 July AND 08 & 10 July. +ve Points 1. Powerful WiFi connection. 2. Spacious place at any level. 3. Friendly staffs. 4. Location is fairly alright in terms of food and transport. -ve Points 1. The air-conditioner (male dormitory) is leaking water badly. No servicing was done. 2. The showering area is untidy. One of the doors is damaged. Drainage is not good. 3. The religious class is noisy even windows are closed. 4. Back alley is filthy. 5. Used cutlery and dirty plate/glass left in the open to attract ants. 📸Photos are worth a thousand words.

I stayed at Hood Hostel for 2 days. If you are a BACKPACKER i am not sure if this is the right place to come, early check-in is 5.000kyats (and i was surprised caused it was the first hostel is Myanmar asking me money, as all night buses arrives very early and usually hostels will fit you in if the bed is available). Secondly beds DOES NOT have a tent and you need to put the towel to do not see the light, it costs only few dollars. Third BREAKFAST very basic and always the same (eggs, toast, a small plate of fruit, coffee, juice). Beside this staff very helpful and place is clean!

Wonderful hospitality from the staff. They were welcoming and helpful throughout. Although the bunks are squeezed in , all the facilities are functional and practical . You will get everything you can expect from a hostel. As the staff are hotel MGMT graduates they are enthusiastic , young and always willing to guide n help. A definite recommendation. To add on, the stairs to the rooms are quite steep , so if your old or have issues climbing , this place should be avoided.

Great staff, nice experience since the check-in until the check-out. The private room is very spacious and good equipped. The whole interior looks like a design by minimalist, very impressive. Breakfast is served with fresh baked egg, toast, and a local pancake. The rooftop for breakfast is just great. Sadly 1 star less because of the poor sound-proof in the private room (really poor in my opinion). I understand that this is a hostel but groups of people constantly moving and talking as usual (even loudly) outside the door in the common area after midnight is definitely not acceptable. I found it really hard to fall into sleep. One suggestion: put some signs and indicate people to consider others after mignight. Anyways, I hope this hostel with good concept can have a even better future!

I had a very great stay from the very beginning. The staff is more than friendly, highly supportive and eager to help anytime. Apart from very clean facilities and the lovely staff the hostel itself employs students for whom it is very advantageous to get some practical experience. So this hostel pursues some important purposes which in my point of view are worth to mention. So whether you are into in a relaxed conversation with the staff or just down to see what brisk Yangon has to offer, this hostel and it’s location will be an enrichment. Wish I could have stayed longer.
