I have seen so many Instagram posts about this place and we decided to try it when we were in the area. We were lucky enough to get there as soon as they opened for dinner service to get a table. I love that they have real crab and wild salmon on the menu and decided to order items that featured these. We were blown away by how amazing everything tasted and made sure to visit this restaurant a second time to sample now of their food. The prices are reasonable considering what you're getting and The presentation for the dishes was top notch. I highly recommend anyone to visit this restaurant. I took so many pictures of their food and would go back in a heartbeat. Everything was fresh and delicious.

One of the best Japanese restaurants outside of Japan out there! The sushi’s were delicious with beautiful plating! Very creative and original, yet super tasty food! The service was also excellent, super friendly and helpful staff, offering us great recommendations since it was our first time visiting the area! We didn’t get to sit at the bar, but we saw the chef interacting a lot with the customers and he was super welcoming and we loved his energy! The vibe in the restaurant is definitely pleasant, having a chill casual environment while enjoying delicious fine Japanese sushi and seafood! If you are in Nanaimo, definitely give this place a try!

If you visit Nanaimo, I believe it is definitely worth to try here. It’s a very busy place with a good vibe. Most of the dishes are unique however some rolls were just very mediocre. They have rotating Sake flight as well if you want to try. They are a bit overpriced I believe but it’s worth to try for sure

Food was excellent. Service was great. They recommended us some rolls and it was great. A bit pricy but it was quality sushi from beginning to end. Some rolls tasted normal but that was just personal preference. It was my daughters bday and they gave her a free slice of yummy matcha cheese cake and sang her a song. Bill came out to be $201 but worth it in my opinion. Make sure you book in advance. It’s busy here for obvious reasons. Will come back.

Nori has been a favourite since we found it in 2019…John and his team continue to exceeded our Omakase experience. From dining inn, enjoying lunch and dinner, to our pandemic parking lot sushi fixes when dining in wasn’t possible.

You can always tell when people are happy where they work. From the moment I was greeted to where, I was seated and served. The care and attention to detail is obvious here. The food is amazing, fresh, the quality is great and it is fairly priced. I would not hesitate to come back when I am in town again.

The service was fine. It was quite busy. We found the sushi quite mediocre, and very expensive as well. Maybe it is just what we ordered? The roll we got was very yummy: super saucy if you’re into that. We actually really did not like the uni, and would not recommend.

I can't believe that I can find such wonderful Japanese sushi restaurant in Nanaimo, I am here as an tourism, even though there are a lot of good Japanese restaurant in Vancouver but I have to say NORI can beats 99.9% of sushi restaurant in Van. People who come Nanaimo definitely needs to come to try. Wish they can open one in Vancouver.

Excellent food, large portions and great presentation. I really enjoyed my time here, even if the restaurant was loud and busy. The food it so good, and catered to my group's needs very well. Thank you so much for the great food and customer service!

We tried the UK Fish&Chips, 911, and Island Fever - all of which were delicious. Service was fast and friendly and our drinks (water and tea) remained full throughout our lunch without having to ask. Great experience.

Getting a table was easy, and the food was really good. Our server was a big snobbish, but that didn’t ruin the experience. There were other servers who made the experience a great one. It’s a small space, but the food is worth it. Good parking. They have a separate window for takeout. Will visit again.

We love Japanese food and this meal is definitely in our top three outside of Japan. The food was amazing, the sashimi wonderfully thick cut. The nigri with only a small amount of rice and the tasty fish hanging nicely over to both sides. The selection we had with the Omakase four course menu was outstanding. Thank you very much.

The food is very good! I recommend wagyu ramen, chashu bao, rose sake! Oshi was just average. Lobster miso i don’t recommend.. the miso is very average, if you want lobster, i’d try a different lobster dish that they have! Service was good! Reservation is recommended, our group had to wait 50min to get a seat without reservation. Will try their sashimi next time cuz it looks very good!

The salmon sashimi was not as fresh as I would have expected and I found a fish bone in one of them. The other nigiri sushi were very fresh. Food portions were large (sashimi were thick cuts and rolls were fat).

Great sushi! We ordered the miso soup, spicy tuna roll, over the rainbow roll, and the 911 roll. The soup came out very hot and the rolls were all a good size, tasted fresh, and had beautiful presentation. We came a few minutes before their 230pm last call for their mid-day break/closure at 3pm. They willingly fit us in, but it was definitely a bit rushed and loud as they were closing down. Overall, the food was great and we recommend!

Forgot how good Nori is! My daughter (who is 4) and I sat at the bar. The chef was SO great telling her what he was making and sharing some samples. All our food was fantastic and great selection.

This was our second visit to Nori. It's no secret! It was very busy, very loud, and very good. Our food was done right, and we didn't wait too long. Please be aware that if you choose to pay by cc, it defaults to a 30% tip of the tax included total. I much prefer making my own decision about tipping, I'm not a fan of suggested tips.

Great lunch. Lots of delicate flavours and we really appreciated the quality. We had bento boxes, Tei-Sho-Ku, that had salad, gyoza, prawn tempura, California roll, and a choice of main dish. All were excellent. We'll be back.

The rolls were mediocre, I ordered the Amazing spider but the taste was pretty bland. The bulgogi bao was really good tho, a bit too small. The tuna roll that my friend ordered was ok, nothing special to it. However, the sashimi was fresh.

Hands down one of my favorite experiences while visiting the island! The chef at the bar and staff were extremely friendly. Service-top notch. Food- incredible. Presentation-D.A.M. good! 👌🏼If we lived here, we would be regulars. Thank you Nori Team!

Lives up to its name! The sushi did not disappoint. Considerable size of fish in each sushi roll and sashimi. The number of choices are amazing. We tried the so many different sushi and they were all amazing. Highly recommend. Get the mango roll if you are a mango fan. So delicious!

100% recommend! Staff was awesome. Food was to die for! Everything was just so good. We had hella leftovers and even after sitting in the fridge, it was really yummy still the next morning 🤣.

We had a dinner for 9 people. The foods including the island fever roll, strawberry crunch roll, dancing scallop roll, karai chirashi don, udon…..were delicious and in generous portions. Servers were very friendly too. We hope to come back soon!

Best Japanese I've ever had. Delicious fresh food, knowledgeable server, passionate chef, beautiful presentation. The only way I could possibly think of improving my experience is with the addition of Japanese bidet toilets, but I understand that many people wouldn't agree with me!

Best Japanese restaurant ever had! We live in Victoria and came all the way to nanaimo for Nori. Indeed not disappointed. 100% recommend! Staffs are super friendly and chefs are very knowledgeable. A very nice atmosphere there and we loved it!

We did the road trip across Canada from Ottawa, finally made it to Victoria. Read the reviews thought we’d check it out. We love sushi and have had a lot over the years. HANDS DOWN, best sushi I have ever had. We came here 3 nights in a row and didn’t bother trying other places for dinner. I highly recommend ordering their flaming viper. It’s phenomenal. If we ever go back to Victoria, 100% going back. Will be suggesting this place to everyone.

😠 Very nice location 4 of us came in with a little over an hour to spare before we had to leave to catch the ferry. Had to end up leaving with food to takeaway due to how long it took to prepare our orders. Was not expecting food to take that long To be fair the cali club sandwich was good, but the st...
