Hello
everyone,
I
had
suffered
from
vertical
strabismus
(diplopia)
since
2012.
I
had
consulted
my
usual
ophthalmologist
who
told
me
that
the
only
solution
was
surgery.
In
fact,
he
explained
to
me
that
only
vertical
strabismus
can
be
corrected
with
orthoptic
sessions.
He
advised
me
to
go
see
one
just
in
case.
The
orthoptist
referred
me
to
the
Rothschild
hospital
in
Paris.
The
surgeon
told
me
the
same
thing
as
my
ophthalmologist:
the
chances
of
success
of
an
operation
are
not
at
all
guaranteed...
but
it
can
also
make
things
worse.
So
obviously...
I
wasn't
at
all
ready
to
have
surgery.
Unfortunately,
over
the
years,
my
strabismus
got
worse.
I
told
myself
that
I
no
longer
had
a
choice.
It
was
unbearable
on
a
daily
basis.
Imagine
seeing
everything
doubled
and
shifted
vertically
all
day
long
(your
surroundings,
objects,
television...)
it
was
unbearable.
So
I
decided
to
ignore
the
negative
opinions
of
my
ophthalmologist
and
the
surgeon
at
Rothschild
Hospital
and
I
searched
on
Google:
âstrabismus
surgery
specialistâ.
I
came
across
the
website
of
Doctor
Alain
Spielmann.
I
have
completed
the
online
appointment
request
form.
I
had
my
first
teleconsultation
during
the
first
confinement!
Doctor
Spielmann
immediately
identified
my
problem
and
asked
me
to
make
a
physical
appointment
at
his
office
in
Paris
to
have
vision
tests
there,
because
I
live
in
the
Paris
region.
So
I
saw
him
again
in
July
2022.
He
is
wonderful,
extremely
kind,
very
human
and
reassuring!
We
have
scheduled
my
procedure
for
November
10,
2022,
on
an
outpatient
basis.
A
week
before
my
procedure,
I
was
so
stressed
that
my
intestines
were
out
of
whack.
I
spoke
about
it
to
Doctor
Laurent
Clerdouet
(anesthesiologist
who
works
with
Doctor
Spielmann).
He
told
me
that
the
only
thing
I
would
regret
would
be
not
having
had
surgery
sooner...
Well
you
know
what?
He
was
right
!!
And
on
the
day
of
the
operation
when
I
arrived
at
the
operating
room,
I
expressed
my
stress
to
Doctor
Spielmann.
He
was
wonderful
in
answering
me:
"It's
normal
to
be
stressed
before
an
operation,
especially
when
it
comes
to
the
eyes
because
it's
important.
But
don't
worry,
the
surgeon
is
not
stressed!"
:-))
The
procedure
went
VERY
well.
It
lasted
about
30
minutes.
After
I
woke
up,
Doctor
Spielmann
had
me
do
some
vision
tests.
I
couldn't
believe
I
was
almost
no
longer
seeing
doubles.
And
the
next
day,
I
could
see
almost
clearly,
two
days
later,
my
vision
was
perfectly
clear.
Today,
I
see
clearly
when
I
look
in
front
of
me
and
up
in
the
air,
something
that
was
impossible
just
a
month
ago.
Itâs
a
real
joy!
However,
for
the
moment,
when
I
move
my
eyes
from
right
to
left
(without
moving
my
head)
I
still
see
double,
but
that's
NORMAL!
Doctor
Alain
Spielmann
explained
to
me
that
it
takes
2
to
3
months
for
vision
to
stabilize.
Another
thing
to
also
know:
it
is
possible
that
a
new
operation
will
be
necessary
after
6
months,
or
even
1
year
or
even
several
years
later,
but
NOT
obligatory!
So,
frankly,
if
you
suffer
from
the
same
disability
that
I
have
suffered
since
2012...
you
can
entrust
your
vision
with
complete
confidence
to
Doctor
Alain
Spielmann.
He
is
wonderful
and
Doctor
Laurent
Clerdouet
his
anesthetist
is
very
nice
too.
I
hope
that
my
testimony
will
reassure
you,
in
any
case.
One
last
thing,
bring
sunglasses
after
your
procedure
because
the
eyes
are
very
sensitive
to
light
(sun,
light
from
headlights,
lamps,
etc.).
Take
good
care
of
yourself
and
dear
Doctor,
a
big
THANK
YOU
for
giving
me
clear
vision!!
You
are
awesome
;)
