Great experience. The guide explains the WHOLE ship with all its secrets (in French). If you're into technology, machinery and naval life and warfare, you'll definitely enjoy it (but don't be claustrophobic)! You can even sit in the captain's seat!

The ship visit very interesting The ship itself is a gem It's a 2 hr tour... The staff very helpful A tour in English and books in English about French navy history would be a worthwhile addition

A very nice tour (in French), from our enthusiastic and engaging tour guide Matthias. An extensive route with lots of interesting detail from the various time periods of the ship.

Visited utilizing the Nantes 48 hour pass. Great tour. Lasted about 1:45 hours. Sarah seemed very passionate and knowledgeable, even though I couldn't really tell as I don't speak any French, all the French people on the tour seemed to be appreciating what they heard. They do have a book with photos and text in English for you to follow along with, unsure of other languages offered. This ship itself is in great shape with lots of above and below deck areas for visiting. Very unique anti-submarine warfare focus for those interested in military history. Of note if it wasn't clear above, they only offer guided tours which occur on the half hour and French is the only spoken language, not that that is an issue at all.

Have problem sleeping? Don't speak French? Visit the ship! Being passionate on the subject, having also visited the Aurora in St. Petersburg and the Intrepid in New York, I couldn't pass this opportunity: well, after less than half hour I was asleep. The most interesting sections are sealed, the English leaflet is as entertaning as Vogon's poetry, the guide's monotone description (in French, obviously) works better than camomille, the cruiser actually never really accomplished anything worth of mention. 3/4 into the tour I felt I needed to escape to avoid further suffering I wouldn't bring kids (it's a warship after all, not a Lego shop), and for anyone with a little knowledge of warships it's boring. Maybe for recluse people or housewife is interesting. Also, the tour started 15 minutes late, and finished 30 minutes late

We pay for an English tour and it was in French. We cannot continue with the tour and we have to exit after paying 24€ (12€ each). I really do not recommend for tourists that do not understand French

The museum is only avaliable through tours which start every full- and half hour during opening hours. Our guide Axel did a tremendous job and his passion for the navy and their ships really shone through during the experience. Whatever we asked about he didn't hesitate to delve deeper into the subject with apparent glee and interest. Axel truly made this tour something else and I can't but recommend a visit to Maillé Brézé.

(Translated by Google) Do not miss this visit. The Maillé-Brézé is a French Navy squadron escort of the T 47 class, named after the famous sailor Jean Armand de Maillé, Marquis de Brézé. This is the third ship with this name. Since 1988, she has been a museum ship anchored on the Quai de la Fosse in Nantes, and has been classified as an object of historical monuments since 1991. Laid down in Lorient on October 9, 1953, and launched on July 2, 1955, she is admitted to active service on May 4, 1957. He was decommissioned on April 1, 1988, and renamed Q661. It was handed over to the “Nantes Marine Tradition” association, and became an important afloat naval museum, open since July 1, 1988. (Original) Une visite à ne pas manquer. (Translated by Google) Super interesting 1.5 hour tour! Dynamic guide and very interesting information provided. The journey in the boat is really exciting. A little steep climb / descent for the elderly especially to see the engine room, the rest seems easy to me if you hold onto the ramps. Well paced, the visit thrilled young and old alike!

Website has no bearing on what actually happens. Turned up at 14:35, was advertised to open at 14:00. Turns out no there is a single guided tour at 14:00 and that’s it.

Super interesting for someone from a country without a navy. Additionally I have to add that the guide, Marine(hope I got the name right) was incredibly nice. I was the only non-french speaker and she translated everything for me even though there was little time for that. Thanks again :)

(Translated by Google) I have always been fascinated by the maritime environment and more particularly the military. So, after visiting the St-Nazaire submersible, discovering the presence of a "warship" in Nantes was great for me. The ship is magnificent, the guide is fascinating and cannot leave hearing in his tracks. The building is magnificent, its history is very interesting. I strongly recommend that you visit this building with the guided tour. Good visit. Bonne visite.

Although the museum can only be visited by joining a tour and the said tour is only in French. I still highly recommend non-french speakers to visit this amazing museum ship. Firstly before entering the ship, a booklet in English with explanations about the ship will be handed over to you. Our guide, Axel was also brilliant and inviting throughout the tour. The entire 2 hours+ tour passed by in a flash as Axel passionately and detailedly guided us through the ship. He was willing to answer any question and was able to fluently answer in English. I again highly recommend this museum to anyone passing through Nantes especially those with a keen interest in Naval history and warships. I would also like to thank Axel for the amazing tour!

Interesting visit but too long in my opinion. More than 2 hours - you're probably going to be bored in the second half of the guided tour. The guides are super passionate about their work, though!

Cool ship. Lots of information if you speak French. Tour guide tried to translate some things in English but really could not. Also could not really answer any questions. Tour takes too long (1.5 hr) and is too slow to keep children engaged. Update wrt the reply below: the booklet is a giant A4 ring binder in which it is impossible to find information for the room you are in, it does not follow the tour and does not seem organised. We gave up on it and so did the other English visitors. It was difficult to carry the binder up and down all the stairs. I'm sure the duration of the tour can be more flexible depending on the guide, but with our guide it was not, there were very long elaborate explanations in french, followed by a single sentence in english and very few questions.

It was a military ship built during the Cold War, it was propelled by steam. It took three years to construct. Truly incredible to see the amount of equipment to run the ship in so little space. It had sonar in both the front and rear to detect submarines. A crew of 270 men and lifeboats for 300+. It was amazing.
