Undoubtedly it is a must to see in Naples, the Veiled Christ and the Chapel are amazing, wonderful, stunning, and so on. But it is extremely expensive having in mind: - You need to take the tickets in advance if you want to see the Chapel. - if you buy the tickets online it is more expensive than buying them in the ticket office - you cannot take pictures nor record anything inside the Chapel. - as you have to book for a certain time, the capacity of people should be less so that you can enjoy your visit, but probably you will find a guided tour (coming from the cruises) with a lot of people around the sculpture. - the management of the place is awful, the staff barely speaks in English (or any other language)

The marble statue is absolutely beautiful, however photographs are not allowed. Looking at the old reviews, I am not sure how they've taken the photos. So like many others, I ended up purchasing a post card at 1.20 euros. You'll need to book a time slot well in advance. You can take a photo of a post card , like what I've done here.

One of the most beautiful museums when you are interested in statues. The delicate work is just fascinating, I've been left speechless. Reservations well in advance are absolute necessity, without it it's nearly impossible visiting. I recommend purchasing an audio guide, it takes the visit to next level. The museo is rather small, but that's enough. It's forbidden to take photos of statues, but if you are nifty, you may sneak one. Either way, at the museum shop you can purchase beautiful postcards of statues, so all good. Lovely love experience.

If this is the only place you visit your trip to Naples will be worthwhile just to see the spectacular Veiled Christ. It left me emotional and breathless. How a man carved this from marble is mindbending.

This museum simply houses one of the outstanding sculpture works in the world (plus the anatomical machines) for a ticket worth a €13 ticket including the audio guide. This is definitely the fairest price ever for such a worthy masterpiece. Despite it's not mandatory, advanced booking is likely the only practical solution for short queueing. I'd recommend being at the museum about 15 minutes earlier than the entrance time on the ticket.

You MUST book in advance, because it is usually pre-booked and full. It is a very beautiful but very very small building. It has only one main hall with beautiful statues and painting. Takong photos is not allowed inside.

If you want to go you almost always have to buy tickets in advance. If you are lucky you might get a ticket for later that day. I know you used to be able to walk in. But this place (like many) has changed visitor protocols since covid. Buying in advance in person or online is easy. It is worth it for one of the great museums. The veiled Christ sculpture is unique. I enjoyed the audio guide as it really helped with the religious and Masonic symbols in the chapel. Also, no photos inside.

This was one of the most captivating sculptures that we saw. The attention to detail was amazing. They strictly forbid photos being taken inside but I was able to snap one before they said something to me.

What a shame for Neapel, what a shame for Italy. They captured the building with an amazing impressive statues what only exists ones in the world and make money from it. The builder of these amazing statues change in a grave when he know what Italy are doing. This work have to see everyone, including touch and photos... it's marbel

I've been fortunate enough to visit some majestic cathedrals and churches in my life and have gazed upon many of the masterpieces within them. However, the Veiled Christ is likely my favorite piece ever. After a visit with my children, I raved for years and one day convinced my wife to go. I could sense her hesitation as it's "just another religious carving". On the surface, that's certainly the case. After she visited, her tune changed and she agrees it's simply magnificent. The delicate features, gentle folds of the sheet, agony somehow conveyed through thick marble - all just utterly spectacular. The other carvings around are really quite impressive as well and the ceiling is just amazing. But everything pales in comparison to the Veiled Christ. It costs a few euros to get in and you can't take photographs, but don't miss out on this. It really is that wonderful.

The most beautiful place I have ever been. Rich in history, very humbling. The paintings and statues are flawless, so very surreal to believe that they are hundreds of years old! So very humbling to comprehend that someone made them by hand! The techniques, the vibrant colours and that no restoration has been required. Everyone MUST see the entirety of this most artistically sacred place! Sacred and hallowed ground!

Absolutely gorgeous. We saw ones of the most beautiful marble pieces of art we ever saw!!! Visit is short - count on 30 minutes. One big room basically. Can only be booked in advance. I strongly recommand the audio-guide (I can't imagine understanding it all without it). They also have a kids version. Our 8 and 12 years old loved it too!!

Audioguide is a must I'd say since the museum is small but the audio explanations will really help you grasp the importance of the works shown inside. Beautiful sculptures, insane craftsmanship by the artists! No pictures allowed. I also recommend buying tickets in advance, we got them at midday and the first entering hour available was in the afternoon.

It's kind of cool but not as amazing as you might think. Two rooms, pictures not allowed so they can sell them to you after your two room, 20 minutes museum tour. I waited in line for twice as long as the time spent in the museum. To be fair, the first room is really impressive and beautiful, but this is definitely not the first museum I would go to.

Outstanding site, this place is a "must visit" site in Naples. Tickets can be booked online so you can skip the long lines. Keep in mind the dress code for this religiuos site and no photography is allowed. Be sure not to miss the anatomy models placed in crypt bellow the main room

A must while you’re in Naples. Get your tickets in advance and go there on time. The statues are so beautiful and carved perfectly, you’re not allowed to take photos in there, and there are people who are making sure you’re not taking any photo :(, at the exit there is a barcode that you can scan and download the pictures from there.

Words cannot describe the beauty of the San Severe Chapel. Regardless your religious believes, you cannot admire the beauty of the Chapel (amazing paintings) and the marble statues. The veiled Christ is probably the most magnificent masterpiece I have seen in all my travels. It is magnetic! You cannot stop staring at it. Beautifully crafted it seems like a real person is sleeping. Amazing, simply amazing. Pictures are taken from the web because it is forbidden to take pictures inside the chapel.

This chapel is an icon place to visit when touring Naples. The “Cristo Velato” statue is gorgeous. Rarely, I saw statues like this. I also liked the floor made of maze and the anatomical bodies down the stairs.

When you go see any art by famous artist anywhere, you either have to experience thick glass wall, big intimidating looking guard watching you watch art, or you are 30 feet away. In Italy you going to church “bam” 💥 sculpture I saw on art history book like Giuseppe Sanmartino’s “vailed christ” , Bernini sculptures are right in front of you. In Napoli you can also see many paintings of Caravaggio. No book store/souvenir store at the end👍.

One of the most spectacular locations in Naples housing an absolute masterpiece, The Veiled Christ. The craftsmanship is truly mindblowing. The lifeless body of Jesus with an almost liquid flowing veil contains so much intricate detail that you can't comprehend how this is sculpted from marble. The other sculptures are equally impressive with one marble sculpture depicting a net over a body which looks incredible. You'll also find the anatomical machines at this location which showcases the circulatory nervous system preserved on human remains, it's fascinating. Definitely go here! Appreciate the masterpieces.

NO PICTURES!!!! And rightly so. I understand why you can't take pictures and I agree. The whole experience was phenomenal and humbling. The architecture, the frescos, the sculptures, everything is incredible. To see the veiled marble sculptures is beyond belief. There is so much to see and reflect upon. Too many details hidden in so many corners, it is so beautiful, and one can see why this little corner of Napoli is such an integral part of the Italian Heritage and Identity. Absolutely astonishing. A small advice: be respectful, speak in whispers, take your hat off please!, absorb one of Italy's best heritage and gift to the world with your eyes.

Much much smaller than I thought it was going to be but the figures inside are absolutely beautiful. You're not allowed to take any photos or videos. The veiled Jesus is spectacular. Be sure to book tickets online because they sell out quite quickly for the day. It is not air conditioned.

Amazing works of art. I will never be able to fathom how these veiled figures were carves from stone it looks too real, too alive. There are no pics allowed inside, and no A/C or fans either , which made the visit really uncomfortable given the heatwave. Still, definitely worth the trek to just be in awe of this loving depiction of Christ.

10 euros per person. Website showed that you have to book online, but I paid cash at the ticket office. It's one big room with several marble sculptures. You have to turn your phone off and not allowed to take pictures. It's truly stunning and worth the visit, even if you can see everything in about 20 minutes. Souvenir shop on the way out.

The Vailed Christ is not the only art worth seeing in the chapel 💒 This place has an amazing history and around 30min audio guide full of information! Wow! All sculptures are making your jaw drop to the ground! I’m happy that I have been there sadly no permission to do pictures with/without flash. 😖

It was very small and I definitely expected to be there longer than 30 minutes, especially with the audio guide, but it was incredible to see in person, albeit, again, very small. I highly recommend spending the extra $4 for the audio guide since it gives an excellent dimension and explanation of the incredible statues that you are seeing. No photos or videos, so be aware and they will remind you. It's a shame, but I understand why. Would definitely recommend!

The Sansevero Chapel is one that shouldn’t be missed. The maze marble floors to the ceilings are fantastically adorned in the style of Baroque. And it’s star, the Veiled Christ, is inspiring even if you aren’t religious.

This is a must see in Napoli, just for the Veiled Christ. There were several times I got lost looking at certain parts of this sculpture and really thought it was real from the intense detail. It's insane! I recommend buying your ticket online so you can be in the fast line which moved much more quickly than the other one (for 1 extra Euro). And make sure you get the audio guide. It gives some good info about the place which really helps you appreciate it more.

Known as Cappella Sansevero Art Museum, or Chapel of Santa Maria della Pietà, this Neapolitan building contains a diverse collection of ornate sculpture visible for just 7Euro. Adhering to a strict photography policy, circumvented only through time and patience, expect to spend an hour in the two small chambers, mesmerized by the ornate netting on Il Disinganno and breathtaking Veiled Christ by Giuseppe Sanmartino. Downstairs guests will also find two anatomical studies of human vasculature that long pre-date the "Bodies" exhibits touring globally

Completely overpriced and problematic to get tickets. 18 Euros for 3 medium sized statues in a small room. Unless you have a deep emotional connection to that place (which apparently most Italians do) it is not worth visiting.

(Translated by Google) Casket of wonders, the chapel is one of the masterpieces of the Neapolitan Baroque and shows the splendor of the Neapolitan eighteenth century. Almost entirely embellished with sculptural decorations, it contains masterpieces of rare beauty, such as the Veiled Christ, Modesty and Disillusionment. A place of charm and mystery, it was created by the will of Raimondo di Sangro di Sansevero, prince, general, Freemason, inventor and scientist: one of the most fictional characters in Europe of his time. The tour is completed by the extraordinary and disturbing anatomical machines exhibited in the basement behind the prince's tomb. Tiny but perfectly formed! The chapel was a lot smaller than I expected but it did not disappoint - especially the sculpture of the veiled Christ.

It's a really interesting place to visit especially if you have an audio tour. Highly recommended!

  • 5/5 Alexandra P. 2 years ago on Google
The place is absolutely stunning, every detail and reinterpretation of some biblical stories are unique, and the Veiled Christ is a real masterpiece. Please take the audio guide, it will open a whole new experience. If you just go there and look, you might be missing a lot of details, and yes, the place is indeed small, but worth every cent. ❤️

This is a true gem , baroque chapel, with a stunning sculpture of Sanmarino - veiled Chris. If you can see only one thing in Naples, this should be it! Buy make sure you buy tickets on line and do not skip mausoleum, you will be astonished by it! No photo allowed.

  • 5/5 Xing 2 years ago on Google
Please make sure to book tickets online, if possible, days before you come here. We tried to book tickets one day before arrival, but not available anymore, then we decided to try our luck here, not surprised, all sold out.

  • 5/5 Lenny 2 years ago on Google
Amazing. But don’t think you’re going to get right in. We are here on a Monday and there is a four hour wait.

  • 5/5 Eduardo B. 2 years ago on Google
Impressive! The details are something else. You have to go! No photos allowed inside, so make sure to look well with your eyes instead of your mobile 😀

  • 1/5 gegesade79 2 years ago on Google
This place might be amazing if you can visit it... We couldn't enter even at the 2nd attempt because apparently only 400 tickets are sold per day and visitors can't buy it in advance at the site. And of course no info is given of this and they don't speak English. However, the whole situation is alike what we experienced in Naples, everywhere: buses don't come, sites are closed without any reason, etc. Nonsense. They are unable to give normal service in an European way. It's so said and upsetting parallelly.

Short trip. If you're in a rush, make sure you know the main room is where to spend the majority of your time.

  • 5/5 Blair T. 2 years ago on Google
Stunning marble statues. Too bad they do not allow cameras.

  • 4/5 piotr m. 2 years ago on Google
The museum is about one fantastic sculpture, maybe two. However it is definetely the Veiled Christ which is is absolutely outstanding. The other i Disillution also imprezie. Please book tickets online otherwise even off season you will wait hours before you enter.

Do get the audio guide. The prince building it and the story behind this extraordinary building and the commissioned works of arts is just incredible. Well worth the wait.

  • 2/5 Никита . 2 years ago on Google
Does not worth its money. Only go there if you are REALLY into that kind of art.

Most beautiful Chapelle i have seen . Recommend you to visit - tips : book your tickets earlier + pick a time early or late in the afternoon (lot of people are there) Recommend you also to buy the book at the end to have all the descriptions :)

This is a must in Naples. The sculpture work is incredible. You won't regret it.

  • 5/5 Lise N. 2 years ago on Google
Parking is difficult, buy tickets online and go early. You can not take photos of this exhibit, but worth the trip. The Veiled Christ is soulful and touched my heart...similar in seeing the Last Supper in Milan.

This very small museum houses some incredible art and, of course, the sculpture of the veiled Christ, which is simply breathtaking. Definitely reccomend it. Unfortunately, you can't take pictures once inside. We waited over 1 hr to buy tickets for a time slot later in the day, so it is worth buying these before hand online.

  • 5/5 Michael W. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing. Despite queueing in the rain it was well worth getting wet. The audio guide was very good lasting maybe 20 minutes. The veiled sculpture is breathtaking. No photos allowed.

  • 5/5 V T. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely astonishing sculptures, you do see them in the pictures but to experience seeing the marble flowing like fabric up close is a remarkable experience. One of the most interesting churches I ever visited, it is truly more like a museum with fewer biblical stories and more human.

  • 5/5 Nimrod S. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing chapel with statues that are so delicately mad as to leave you in awe. You can't take pictures, which is understandable, but they also didn't want us to use our own audio guides so that we'd pay extra for theirs. That's just nerves.

  • 5/5 Roman A. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely breathtaking. Don't let the size of the rooms fool you. Every centimeter of walls and ceiling in a masterpiece. Unimaginable skill of sculptors will make you question if we really did advance in anything or just a silly shadow of past greatness.

Beautiful place, very unique interior with the well-known and absolutely stunning veiled Jesus statue. Be aware: most of the days, you must have a pre-ordered ticket. So definitely I recommend to buy it in advance

  • 5/5 André N. 1 year ago on Google
Beautifull chapel, incredible sculptures inside. Cristo velato is just one of the many amazing sculptures. Audioguide is a must to understand the context of what is around you. 5/5!

  • 5/5 Robert . 10 months ago on Google
It is absolutely “must see” place. The sculpture of Christ is just magnificent - it is very natural - I had a vision of seeing there Jesus Christ somewhere between life and death. It is so realistic. Other sculptures, paintings and the fresc are also worth visiting this place.

  • 3/5 James L. 10 months ago on Google
It's a bit of a tourist trap. The eighteenth century baroque sculptures are good, but I'm not sure why there are crowds waiting in line and they think they can get away with charging 10 EUR admission. There's innumerable sculpture of that period and style in other churches in Italy that's just as fascinating.

  • 5/5 OJ P. 10 months ago on Google
This is a must see in Naples for art-enjoyers. The Veiled Christ deserves the hype, but there are also other sculptures that depict soft materials. Phones and taking of photos are forbidden, but in a way, makes the visit much more enjoyable. Book tickets in advance, ideally when you start planning your visit. Tickets run out, very likely you cannot obtain tickets on the day itself. Some sites mention that tickets can be sold out weeks in advance.

  • 1/5 PB 10 months ago on Google
You know what… SKIP it. They have garbage employees (not just one!) working here. No Customer service, no kindness, no accommodation . They treat you as a money making making machine. You will wait in lines, they won’t allow you to be a second late, protocols for entry are essentially COVID-like and while statue is impressive there is only ONE. This is not Florence. NOT WORTH scheduling your day around this at all.

Small chapel with incredible sculptures. Need to book ahead online and queue for about 40 mins! Worth it tho! No need to add photos, lots are on the website but to see them yourself is just jaw dropping!

  • 5/5 Alina M. 9 months ago on Google
Wonderful place. At high season tickets need to buy one day before. The visit takes approximately 15-20 minutes, as entrance is extra charged, management control crowd inside, photos inside forbidden, but you can buy postcards at the exit.

  • 5/5 Anna B. 9 months ago on Google
A beautiful small chapel with inspiring sculptures. The audio guide was very good! Informative and thorough, but absolutely not boring. Absolutely worth visiting in Naples, and thank you for such a lovely experience!

  • 5/5 Ramona A. 9 months ago on Google
Beautiful but very small museum. It is only one room which you enter through and there you see the magnificent sculpture. I understand why but it was such a shame that no photos can be taken. You really won’t need longer than 15-20 minutes in here.

  • 4/5 Alexander P. 9 months ago on Google
The sculptures are uniquely masterfully executed and it is well worth visiting. The fact that this special place has been turned into another tourist attraction just to genetate revenue, but not providing any meaningful information to highlight the historical context and needlessly imiting the personal experience by not allowing personal photos (while shamelessly using the beautiful sculptures for their own touristy merchandising - see photos), is certainly a pity. Still, worth the visit aslobg as the lines are not too long.

A little corner of wonderous beauty. A must go place for all the art, architecture and history of science enthusiasts. I strongly recommend paying 3 euros more and get the audioguide (they are provided in Italian. English, German, French and Spanish as far as I know, maybe a couple of languages more). The chapel is very esoteric and you'd risk to miss most of the hidden meanings and historical references, unless you have studied it beforehand.

The most stunning piece of art I've ever seen. I can't believe the beauty of this sculpture coming out of a piece or stone. Must see in Naples. You can buy online tickets but also on the spot but then it might be a few hours later slot. You can't take any pictures.

  • 5/5 Marcin H. 8 months ago on Google
I'm a bit confused. People are coming here mostly for the sculpture of Jesus. But actually the same technique is used for other sculptures in the room. The only difference is that the sculpture was touched by visitors in the past and now is shiny and polished (same as legs of other hanging sculptures). It is also well lit up. So if people are looking for sculpture not in the original form but "tuned" why not polish all other sculptures and light them appropriately. That room could make an even bigger impression on visitors this way.

Very good sculptures but very small and you can't take any pictures. I would not recommend walking around Naples only for this museum. I would get a taxi and go somewhere else from the train station. Some areas do not feel safe.

  • 4/5 Kerry D. 7 months ago on Google
The museum is really small so we only spent about 20 minutes here, there’s the main room and then a smaller room downstairs on the way to the exit. It was really busy when we went, there were queues to read and look at everything in the museum, there’s also no photos allowed. It’s situated in a busy area of Naples which didn’t feel the safest walking to/through but we did enjoy the museum and seen some beautiful art.

Nestled in the heart of historic Naples, the Sansevero Chapel Museum is a true gem of international artistic heritage. It's a place where Baroque creativity and dynastic pride, beauty, and mystery entwine to create an atmosphere that feels almost timeless. Located at Via Francesco de Sanctis, 19/21, this museum is nothing short of extraordinary. Stepping into the Sansevero Chapel is like entering another world. Within its hallowed halls, you'll encounter masterpieces that defy belief. The renowned Veiled Christ, whose image has circled the globe for the miraculous "weaving" of its marble veil, stands as a testament to human artistry. But the wonders don't end there. The chapel houses feats of virtuosity like the Disinganno and enigmatic creations like the Anatomical Machines. Each piece represents a facet of the genius mind behind it all, Raimondo di Sangro. Visiting this singular monument is an experience that lingers in the soul. It's a noble mausoleum, an initiatory temple where the multifaceted personality of its brilliant creator finds its expression. Now, it's worth noting that, due to changed visitor protocols since COVID, it's advisable to purchase tickets in advance, either in person or online. But let me assure you, it's well worth the effort. The audio guide adds depth to your visit, unveiling the religious and Masonic symbols that adorn the chapel. Remember, though, no photos are allowed inside. The Sansevero Chapel is more than a museum; it's an artistic marvel. Its marble maze floors, its richly adorned ceilings in the Baroque style, and its star attraction, the Veiled Christ, all inspire awe, even if you're not religious. While it may be a relatively small museum, it's a place where time seems to stand still as you contemplate its incredible sculptures. You won't need more than 15-20 minutes to be captivated by its beauty. So, whether you're an art enthusiast, a lover of history, or simply seeking a moment of inspiration, the Sansevero Chapel Museum is a must-visit. It's a place where artistic genius converges with mystery, and where every moment is a journey into the extraordinary.

There’s a long line every time I pass by this chapel, and they are already ticket holders. Make sure to purchase your ticket in advance or it can sell out for the day. The interior is beautiful but makes for a very short visit. No photos allowed, but my camera malfunctioned and accidentally took a picture. Thought it would be good to share.
