WOW! we've been to Nelson many time but had stumbled on this park during our last visit. Take the time to smell the flowers, seek out this park you wont be disappointed. We hit the perfect time the ornamental cherry trees were in bloom and the spring run off had the water fall forcefully presenting its grandeur. A must see.

Nelson has so many attractions to offer. Living in this beautiful place feels so blessed. If you are visiting, you must go to this park to have a picnic or just relax during lunch break. As an Asian, this park reminded my hometown. It is a small secret place to think and read the middle of the industrial area. It is the perfect place to date at night. It is very romantic and quiet. So clean and cozy. Most recommended.

This park looks like it's still a work in progress, but the progress that has been made so far is really good. There were stone stair pathways and good planting around to beautify the area. The falls were an interesting find considering that your in the outskirts of town in the middle of where roads are crossing.

kind of an awkward place to get to in behind a commercial area โ€ฆ.. but wowโ€ฆokay - wasnโ€™t expecting that - i thought the falls might be a few drops and a set of rapids- no way - itโ€™s a beautiful rocky set of falls with decent height and it comes out from underneath a stone arched bridge - very cool - full spring run off so it was raging - would like to see it in mid summer flow - probably very pretty โ€ฆ. rest of the park area was well kept and clean with nice flowers and structures

Absolutely beautiful! Peaceful, calming and a great place to regather and be with nature. The park was very clean and lots of different plants. The park has public restrooms in the back parking lot area which is great.

A small but beautiful nature retreat nestled amidst the surrounding urban industrial area. The landscaping and abundance of spring blossoms give this park a Japanese garden feel, and the force of the water pouring over the falls displays nature in all her glory.

Cottonwood falls has always been one of my favourite parks in Nelson even after gentrification its still pretty good. It's also a good place to go to get an idea of the cost of addiction in Nelson, the makeshift tasteful memorial is important to remind those outside that world people are struggling. The falls is an amazing place year round it never disapoits and even the landscapeing and structures cannot diminish it.

Beautiful park with relaxing garden areas. Pathway is accessible for all users. If you are agile you can get right down to the water near the falls (water was low during our mid August visit, don't recommend this during higher water in spring etc)

This is a bit of a hidden gem. I went with my teens on a rainy day so perhaps thatโ€™s why it was so quiet! Nevertheless itโ€™s easy for tourists to walk to although too far for most kids under 10 unless they are accustomed to long city walks. There is easy parking to be had. The history of the Japanese Garden is engaging and I took time to read all the signs. There is information about Nelsonโ€™s sister city and a friendship bridge. The waterfalls would be very exciting for younger children. My teens enjoyed exploring the area in their own way. We snapped some fun photos as well. We spent about an 40 minutes there. A picnic and nice weather could turn the park into a 1-2 hour event that would be relaxing, easy to get too, inexpensive and educational. Hope you enjoy!

A hidden gem in the town. Tucked in behind the Fore dealership and the recycling depot.

Falls are cool. Literally in town. I'd not stay and camp, though.

They have a nice farmer's market here. Be sure to bring cash, Canadian, as very few vendors accept credit.

Beautiful waterfall , lovely Japanese gardens this is a great rest stop or picnic area. Hidden gem located right behind recycling depot and next to the rod and gun club . This is a great new adventure guiding business that is located at the area . A must see .

Cute little park that hosts community events and outdoor marketplaces. Beauty waterfall tucked in the corner is a cool spot even on hot days. In the springtime when the water is high it's quite exciting.

Wonderful Japanese Park in the heart of Nelson. There is a beautiful waterfall and a small river which winds through the park. The bridge, railings and structures are all well done and there are explanations of Nelsonโ€™s twin city in Japan. The plantings throughout the park are extensive and well maintained.

  • 4/5 Justine P. 6 months ago on Google
Very cute, little park. A small trail loops up to the waterfalls on either side. There are sitting benches and bathrooms. The Farmers Market also takes place here in the summer/ fall every Saturday.

Hidden place in Nelson, small but nice park to walk. It seems the park was donated by a city from Japan. I added a picture with this information.

Wonderful park and garden surrounding beautiful falls that spill near the local Rod and Gun Club. Garden is impeccably maintained by the volunteers there.

Must be visit if you are in Nelson B.C its like minute away from parking lot to see the falls, but you can walk in short trail and go down in under the falls too to spent time if you like.

So beautiful!! Short walk to a beautiful waterfall. Nice to just sit and listen to the water fall. Parking was good. Flowers that smelt amazing. Little bridge that takes you over the river.

Perfect little spot to eat lunch when the weather is right. Close enough to downtown that you can walk here and back on a short break.

Really beautiful and unexpected spot to have lunch or hang out for a bit. The farmers market is there on Saturdays. There are some great local veggies, vegan cheeses, lunch food, and other products. I believe all is cash only.

Lovely falls. Rather odd locatio, would not have expected it to be where it was, quick walk to the falls from the parking lot. Great spot for some pictures.

It was the fall when I visited. It is a nice little park to take a stroll though. It is a nice quiet place to relax at. On Saturdays in the summer time they have a market and live music playing.

    Awesome falls

A lovely little Japanese garden and creek. The 'falls' are actually Cottonwood Creek falling from a culvert. Still, the effect is wonderfully rushing water crashing down on rocks.

Such a beautiful little place in Nelson doesn't matter the time of year you go it's still magnificent. The bare trees in the winter with the sound of the waterfall make it almost eerie yet still enjoyable and in the summer when the trees are blooming it's simply amazing
