Awesome quiet place in the center of a very busy New Orleans downtown. Great piece of history and architecture with the St. Louis Cathedral right behind it as well. Definitely worth checking out if you're visiting New Orleans its a cool monument to see!

Beautiful area and park in the French Quarter. There is always a plethora of amazing artists and entertainers in the area and you won't have to go far to see a good show. I always enjoy walking around here when I visit New Orleans.

Stunningly beautiful place with massive photo opportunities. I really felt that this and only a few others held the charm I was attempting to experience while visiting New Orleans. The nearby area with its numerous vendors and over priced junk shops was truly reminiscent of visiting a third world toilet. The homeless/un-sheltered problem seemed to be magnified here and aggressive panhandling was clearly excessively out of control. While I would recommend a visit, it is not a place I would take kids to nor would I consider visiting if you don't handle confrontation well. It's a historic rose garden that been allowed to slip into a modern day stink weed patch.

Great touristic attraction where you can see the famous statue of Gen. Andrew Jackson and admire a great view of the Louisiana State Museum. You can have a little walk around the square or relax on one of the benches under the shady trees. You can also see/buy the work of some local artists or have some fortune tellers tell you if your gonna have some unexpected quests for dinner. lol It is a "must see" place when you visit New Orleans.

Beautiful park area with lots of shopping located nearby. Several musicians and local artist hang out around the square promoting the music or selling their artwork and other items.

Surrounded by historic buildings and homes this place is a great place to relax. Nested between the famous bourbon st and the French market this place offers a great escape from the sensory overload that is New Orleans. This is a great place to relax and take some amazing photos. We sat on the grass and just enjoyed the beautiful weather before heading to the French market for lunch! Surrounded by local vendors, musicians and artists this place truly captures the essence and beauty of New Orleans

Always a great place to come to for relaxation and peacefulness. Great place of historic land right here in my backyard. If you are willing to open your eyes while you are here you can find a plethora of things to do other than just site see. It was beautiful and clean during my visit.

Great area to visit. Cathedral in the background, surrounded by older buildings and artists of all kinds. We spent about an hour walking around and decided to support a local artist by buying a painting. Definitely worth visiting if you are in NO.

Walked over from the river front. And picked up a horse (mule) drawn carriage tour of local haunts. The park has an interesting history. It's beautiful to walk around with plenty of places to sit and take pictures.

This is the best area to park for downtown. You are central to Bourbon Street, French Market, and can access the bus or horse draw tours from here as well. This is a lovely place to experience music, food, and just enjoy the sites. The cathedral is right there and has air conditioning.

This has probably been my favorite place in New Orleans. The shops and boutiques surrounding the square are enjoyable with helpful, welcoming staff. Street performers were awesome! Impressive artists had their work on display and for sale, bought a few pieces. I highly recommend bringing cash cause you will want to tip the performers and buy some art. Love the culture of the area!

Jackson square is one of the historical park in french quarter of new Orleans Louisiana. Do not need any admission fee. This place is usually crowded because it's tourist attractions. This place is surrounded by other historical buildings. We had great fun in this place. Very neat and clean and all the status in the park has their history. Highly recommend place regardless of any gender.

Jackson’s square was beautiful. There wasn’t many people at 11:30 when we went but it was also about to storm. There is a farmers market a couple blocks away that is a must to go through. If you time it right you can watch the riverboat take off for a tour. Very pleased with how clean the park was and the music playing by live performers.

It was nice to walk around the historic square and see art from local artists. We took a break and sat down on the benches in the park and listened to live music and the church bells telling the time.

While we went at a time where it was not crowded, the atmosphere was still lively. It was rather cold so there were not the vendors I expected but that is okay as it gave us a chance to catch a carriage on Decatur for a great tour. The area was clean beautiful and such a wonderful view of St. Louis Cathedral. Can't wait to visit again.

Jackson Square is beautiful. So clean and well presented even when the French Quarter festival was taking place. The festival is free, the music, food and drink was amazing. Its a place to meet, relax and enjoy being outside and at the time of our visit, a time to enjoy jazz music.

Jackson Square is an obvious New Orleans tourist staple. It is central to what the French Quarter is. It is a great spot for people watching, hearing live music, big events, drinking, shopping, and of course FOOD!! Bring the family, or go it alone. Stroll over to the river walk while you are there, to see cruise ships and more on the river! It’s SUPER picturesque so take lots of photos!!

Bustling, lively square full of color and music. Love the views, the street performers and art at this historic French Quarter destination. There is a public parking lot just across Decatur Street, by the river, if you are driving here.

Peaceful park square in the heart of the French Quarter. The only downside is how early it closes, but it's a great spot for a walk or hang out. It's lively around the outside edges as well with artists and performers set up. It's limited to pedestrian traffic on three of the sides. Definitely a must stop spot while in the area. Adjacent to many other popular and famous locations.

Beautiful. It is worth to take time to find parking and come to visit it. The only draw back are the homeless and beggars. They will harass you and once you engage, they got you. In many cases people engage to distract you while others will pick pocket you. Caveat: go up the steps across from Jackson Square and take amazing pictures from both the Square as well as the canal behind you. Sometimes the cruise ships are coming through.

Very beautiful place, the lane is so beautiful. Tourist spot and nicely maintained. Must go and visit this particular spot, picturesque and has so many eateries all around the place. It is the most fun place to be in New Orleans. Must visit in the evening time, french quarter is walkable and is so amazing to enjoy. For bright pictures and photography visit in morning hours on weekdays, not many people around and good time for photoshoot.

Beautiful landmark. I would advise that there are a lot of homeless, panhandle, and hustlers in this area. However, they seemed to be harmless and not bothering much if you just keep your eyes ahead and don't interact with them. This is not IN the park, but you will have to go through the area where they are in order to get in. It would be a perfect place to take wedding photos.

Great fun for the kids. We saw a few medium sized alligators and watched the guide feed them marshmallows. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the ecosystem and fielded questions with manners and expertise. There was a little bar set up in the waiting area with frozen drinks which was a lifesaver for us. Good way to spend an afternoon.

Wonderful place to relax & enjoy what this park has to offer. Artists, musicians, people from all the web, & the best Beignets at Cafe Du Monde. On this day I also enjoyed a festival honoring those who migrated to New Orleans from India.

We thoroughly enjoyed our quiet walk through the park. We visited on one of the coldest days of the year, so there weren't many people out and about, which made for a pleasant stroll.

Always a beautiful place to walk around. The park and surrounding square are wonderful year round, night or day. There are original and unique street artists...performers, painters, fortune tellers, and musicians. Join the dancing if you feel like it. (I always do!) Get a henna tattoo. The shops nearby are quintessential New Orleans. The restaurants bordering the square offer great views and the food that motivated you to this spot in the first place. It's always a good place to start when you come to New Orleans.

I was in New Orleans for the Essence Festival 4th of July weekend. Clean & relaxing. Plenty of benches to sit quietly by self or to congregate with family & friends. I sat there listening to a great street performer. It a free park.

Jackson Square is absolutely breathtaking! On our getaway, me and my wife fell in love with this place that is full of history. Also this place was on our bucket-list being huge fans of the tv series, "The Originals" was absolutely fantastic. Once we move there, it will be one of our favorite places to visit daily!

Amazing piece if history. Small little park if you are a patriot of this great country. Unfortunately I got up close the statue of Andrew Jackson and can see paint where people threw by his hat. I'm glad NOLA is still keeping it up.

Loved the street architecture and cute decor

Try to make your way to Jackson Square during church hours so that you have a chance to see inside the beautiful building. It isn't very bug, but it boast beautiful details. The park is also a great place to catch local artist and performers showcasing their talent.

A place of art, and mixed beliefs - but a beautiful place to visit. An added bonus if you're an 'Originals' fan. The end bench is from the final scenes of Elijah and Klaus - there is a little memorial attached to the back of the seat (photo added)

Great outdoor venue in New Orleans. Plan to spend some time here with kids and family. They have some events happening all round the park. They have palm reading folks. Folks doing art works. This is very relaxed place to eat and sip coffee as well. There are benches all round and some with shade provided by trees. The place is a central point and can be kept as a landmark to meet folks as well.

Jackson Square was still closed when we dropped by but basing from the outside looks like it's well maintained. There are some shops on the surrounding that are already open, some are alfresco and some require a vaccination card to be let in. All in all it was a good place to visit to get a feel of New Orleans.

  • 4/5 Timothy C. 2 years ago on Google
This is New Orleans. This is in the heart of the French Quarter. While there, grab a coffee at Cafe du Mond or a drink at one of the local watering hole. Then catch one of the horse buggies for a tour. The history of this area is deep and varied. The buggy drivers are the best local historians.

If you come to New Orleans, this is a short walk from Bourbon Street. It's located in a beautiful spot on the Mighty Mississippi River. Stroll through the park on a lovely day. It's a wonderful church, lots of historical significance.

Jackson Square was good but not great. Around the square, there were artists selling their work. It was all interesting and colorful. There were street performers too which added to the atmosphere. Inside the square, there were some majestic old oaks. They provided ample shade. There were a lot of benches.

The historic Jackson Square Park is an absolute gem in NOLA! Nestled along the Mississippi River, it offers a breathtaking view of the iconic St. Louis Cathedral and the Andrew Jackson Equestrian Statue. This place oozes history, having graced the screens of numerous movies and dramas. The park's charm is amplified by its iron fences, walkways, and cozy benches. It is an artistic haven with vibrant open-air events and shows hosted in front of the park. During my visit, I was captivated by talented musicians serenading the crowd. A must-visit spot to soak in NOLA's essence!

Beautiful historical space in front of St. Louis cathedral. While it’s great to come here for the local artists (and no, they definitely don’t hassle you), it’s also worth coming here in the early morning when it’s empty and quiet except for the faint sound of the band playing outside Cafe Du Monde. Grab your beignet there from the to-go order line around 8am and then take it to the park, sit on the bench and enjoy the atmosphere.

As you approach Jackson Square, the St. Louis Cathedral is an eye catcher with its Gothic Revival architecture. It has three towering spires, each topped with ironwork and statues. The square itself is alive with activity. Street performers, artists, and fortune tellers line the paths, adding a vibrant and eclectic touch. Musicians fill the air with the soulful sounds of jazz, while locals and tourists alike stroll through the square or take a break on the iconic green benches. In the background, the Mississippi River flows steadily, a reminder of the city's vital connection to waterborne trade. Together, the cathedral, the square, and its surroundings create a captivating snapshot of New Orleans' rich cultural heritage and lively atmosphere, making it a must-visit destination for any traveler.

So fun to walk around and be entertained, buy art, MEET the artists, get your palm read, or just relax. Definitely a tourist MUST. Great way to spend some time and get a feel for how much New Orleans loves its art. What talent in the square! So many pieces I would love to own if I had a few extra thousand to spend.
