It's
been
said
elsewhere
in
these
reviews
-
you
get
what
you
pay
for.
A
picture
of
a
heap
of
cable
siting
next
to
a
weight
stack
is
perhaps
all
you
need
to
know
about
how
this
club's
management
feels
about
equipment
maintenance.
I
used
to
work
in
a
gym
-
do
you
have
any
idea
how
long
you
have
to
neglect
one
of
these
before
it
eventually
frays
and
breaks?
Equipment
maintenance
on
the
cardio
machines
is
arguably
worse.
They
have
four
stairmasters
-
one
has
been
completely
out
of
commission
since
I
started
at
the
gym
five
months
ago.
The
treadmills
have
a
similar
story.
Finding
a
treadmill
that
works
is
an
exercise
of
trial
and
error
because
the
staff
doesn't
bother
putting
out
of
order
signs
on
anything.
I
guess
I
wouldn't
either
if
ten
of
my
treadmills
didn't
work.
Pretty
much
all
the
USB
sockets
on
the
cardio
equipment
have
rust
in
them
-
that
USB
technology
is
used,
and
that
it's
rusted
out,
tells
you
all
you
need
to
know
about
equipment
age.
For
people
considering
joining
-
just
know
what
you're
paying
for.
The
app
has
a
"crowd
meter".
I've
only
ever
seen
it
at
2-3
bars.
Two
bars
means
you
might
get
to
work
out
on
the
machines
you
want
to
on
a
given
day.
Three
bars
means
you
probably
don't.
You
will
not
get
to
do
freeweights.
All
benches
are
always
occupied.
I
have
seen
one
of
the
three
safety
squats
unoccupied
exactly
twice.
Maybe
early
in
the
morning
you
would
have
better
luck.
Once
you
understand
that
PF's
business
model
relies
on
making
gym
membership
so
cheap
that
their
membership
roster
is
loaded
with
people
who
pay
but
never
go,
it
all
falls
into
place.
PF
franchisees
have
to
buy
equipment
from
Planet
Fitness
directly,
so
management
is
likely
beholden
to
upgrade
costs
to
corporate
that
make
keeping
things
up
to
date
difficult.
Know
before
you
go.
