Absolutely perfect! Simple and delicious! They serve the best Socca I’ve ever tried. Perfect service, great choice of local specialities. Absolutely delicious Pissaladiere and Pain Bagnat! I also tried a local dessert – Tourte de Blettes, made with Swiss Chard. It doesn’t sound so appetising on the menu but after a strong suggestion from the staff member, I gave it a chance and I LOVED IT! Gets very busy, so be patient :-)

My first time to ever try Socca, and I found it quite good! I tried the original socca here and was really amazed by how subtle but good this local delicacy is! I never saw this anywhere else I've traveled outside of France, so it was a simple but amazing experience. It went down well with draft beer the staff recommended. They were very friendly and helpful with communicating with me in English. You could tell they loved their jobs and the restaurant. We arrived just as it opened at 11:30am and not long after several others started to come in on a Wednesday morning! They have a large establishment, quite roomy, spacious and well designed. However, there's only one unisex restroom for the whole restaurant. Good outdoor street seating, too. Note that socca is something many people will enjoy, but others may find it insufficient to satisfy a hungry or hearty appetite. While they have other bread and salad dishes here, don't expect too much of a full blown meal. It's a good light bite or something to enjoy with good company and drinks (or kids).

The place was super nice, the waitresses are super friendly too! All the food (socca, pan bagnat, and pissaladiere) was so amazing! And for the dessert you must try "BLETTE TARTE"😋😋😋

restaurant was packed at 7pm, had to queue a little bit but only took 5 min to get seated outside their pergolas. socca is like a flatbread/thin pancake made of chickpea flour. we tried the pepper and anchovy, love the crispiness in each bite. delicious and no fuzz meal and a must have when in nice!

(Translated by Google) Very disappointing experience. Arrival at noon at 4, the empty terrace. We had the misfortune to sit in two seats of two, the only ones in the sun. A waiter fell on us forgetting his good humor. He asked us to move for health reasons, which actually turned out to be economic reasons ... The request was understandable, but treating people this way was really aggressive and inappropriate. Not to mention the fact that he passed himself off as the headteacher to justify his behavior. In short, the experience was cut short. We used to come here as a family, we won't go anymore. It's too bad. Bref, l’expérience a coupé court. Nous avions l’habitude de venir ici en famille, nous n’irons plus. C’est bien dommage.

Our hotel, Esprit d’ Azur, told us about his restaurant and we were not disappointed. They said get there before 7 or you’ll be waiting awhile for a table. We tried the various specialties and loved them all. We were seated next to an local couple that goes there on a regular basis. I told them I was going to post this review, and they said not to as they don’t like having to wait for a table. So smile when you go as you may run into them. They are on the far left of the photo. Great food and worth the wait.

Chez Pipo is perfect for the gluten-free visitor who still wants to try local cuisine. I was able to get the socca, a side salad, and a glass of rose, and my husband ordered the pizza and socca. Highly recommend!

A local friend recommended me this place to try the local food called socca. And it was the best suggestion of the whole trip. We went there on our last day for lunch and were lucky to get a table outside. At some point people were queuing to get a table so it must be really popular. We tried all the different socca's and my favourite was the one with the Parmesan. Very good meal for lunch and not too heavy. Tasted crispy and flavorful. Service was quick and friendly.

As always great to be back, amazing food and great atmosphere. The socca is authentic and other dishes as well. It’s great to come with some friends as you can order more variety of food and share! I have been there many times and I am always happy to go back or recommend this place to my friends! Super authentic place with great service and atmosphere and of course amazing food!

I tried Socca in few places in Nice and this is hand down the best. Really crunchy. The sweets are also good. We went there at 5PM, the place was not yet crowded, served fast.

We went to Chez Pipo for their socca. This is a popular place and there is a queuing area that you need to wait in. We didn’t wait long. We got excited and ordered too much. But the socca was so good.

Really tasty socca (crispy outside, soft inside, and flavored nicely), just a few mins away from old town and close to the old port. A very nice restaurant for sitting for a glass of wine and appetizers, and professional, efficient service. Without the inflated prices of the cafes closer to the markets. Good for takeout too, €2.50 per socca portion!

Hands down the best Socca! Omg! My first time trying Socca was 2 days before in some restaurant and it was bad. So, glad I read about Chez Pipo and made it here before leaving Nice!! What a stark difference- the socca in Chez Pipo delicious!!... a must if walking around the Port or Nice... it was an amazing snack! Oh, and I had their tapenades as well....yummy!!

Great socca! Only socca I had in France so nothing to compare it to but I was very satisfied, thought it was delicious, very flavorful and a great texture. Service wasn’t too great but it didn’t ruin the experience

Good food and a nice spot. We got the pissaladière, both the dips and two of the Soccas. We ended with the sweet swiss chard pie. It was pretty good. Lightly sweetened. The rose was very nice to drink as well. I did not like the Aperol Spritz.

(Translated by Google) Good morning all you will find a mediocre welcome because 5 minutes in advance, exorbitant price for socca compared to the quantity put on the plate ... do not forget that this dish is said to be poor ... is only chick-weight flour and water, when with tonoiade and anchovy, 2 tiny ramekins and 1 kg of old spreadable crouton ... in short, I won't tell you more ... go and see for yourself even if you have the courage I strongly advise against this address .. there are many other places in nice where you can enjoy yourself (Original) bonjour a tous vous y trouverez un accueil médiocre car 5 min en avance, prix exorbitant pour de la socca par rapport à la quantité mis dans l'assiette ...n'oubliez pas que ce plat soit disant du pauvre..n'est que de la farine de poid chiche et de l'eau, quand à la tonoiade et l'anchoiade, 2 minuscule ramequins et 1 kg de vieux croûton à tartiner...bref je ne vous en dis pas plus..allez voir de vous même si vous en avez le courage je déconseille fortement cette adresse ..il a bien d'autres endroit à nice ou vous pouvez vous régaler

Our second visit to Nice, but our first time trying the traditional Socca bread. We missed it the first time we came so we were eager to search for a local place that made it. Chez Pipo did not disappoint! Freshly baked in a traditional wood fired stone oven the Socca was hot, light, crispy and well seasoned. Staff were very friendly and we didn't have to wait long to be seated and served. Will definitely return again!

  • 4/5 Kristin C. 1 year ago on Google
Food was delicious. We were told this is the go to restaurant in Nice if you’re looking for socca. We ordered a little bit of everything and it was all shareable. We waited about 35 minutes for a table. The only reason for the 4 stars is for service. It was very hard to get our waitress’ attention. Overall, food was very good! Happy to have had the chance to try this while visiting.

  • 5/5 Stella M. 1 year ago on Google
The best food I have tried in Nice. This is the only place you need to try socca (if your first time). Everything on the menu was delicious. We came back multiple times.

  • 4/5 Mike D. 1 year ago on Google
The oldest Socca bar in town. A great place to try some Traditional Nicçoise streetfood. The Socca is wonderfully charred and silky on the bottom. Baked in a gigantic pan in a wood fired ove. Order a double portion for 2. Add pepper and maybe salt. The Pissaladiere is wonderful spongy focaccia with caramelized onions. The pan bagnat is a tuna sandwich, it’s a mini version here. Also tasty. Expect a wait, but room inside to have a drink before the table is ready.

Great place. Focused mostly around Socca. Really good prices, perfect portions and friendly efficient staff. Seems popular with locals which is always a good sign. They also do slider burgers and mini pizzas... But forget about them get some Socca and a cool refreshing pint.

This was very close to our stay and was a place buzzing. It was so busy and it’s understandable why, as they serve authentic Nicoise food. We got the socca with parmigiana and eggplant as well as the red pepper one which were really delicious. The passaladiere was the highlight, it’s sort of like a pizza with caramelised onions on top. The service was quite slow and the staff were overworked, more people should really be hired to help with that. Our meal was about €15 and this place is a great little snack on your day of exploring!

I called for reservations and was told it wasn't required after 9 pm. I arrived at 8.30 pm they were quite full but found a table for us. The serve local dishes. Like advertised since 1923. It appears to be a local haunt. The soupe de pistou was delicious. The socca was good. The onion pissaladière was delicious. So was the tapenade. Service was rapid, friendly and very helpful. Certainly recommend if you want to check out local dishes in the vicinity.

Came here after a light dinner and was not disappointed! The socca paired with beer is to die for after a long day of traveling. Perfectly crispy with a pleasant egg like flavor, the tartinades were a nice biting tart(?) alongside though the person I came with wasn’t in love with the olives pastes and just munched on the socca. Ambience was super nice even on a sunday night and they had an english menu with pictures which was quite helpful. The service was prompt and communicative. Great stop!

A Nice institution - since 1923 - offering the local speciality socca to locals and tourists alike in a quiet part of the old port. Crowded and busy, but there is method in the madness, and the dishes - we tried three kinds of docs after some delicious starters - came on time and with grace. The socca was delicious and light with subtle flavours and a crisp texture. Well worth the long walk from our part of town. Service was brisk but friendly and prices very reasonable. The tarte de blette dessert - with the odd combo of silverbeet (chard), apple and pine nuts was also delicious and worth trying.

  • 4/5 Sander C. 4 years ago on Google
This is a great place for a quick bite to eat. Here you can find local specialties for a great price. I can recommend the socca. If you all take a different one, you can share and taste the different flavors. 5/7 Try to eat outside though, it can get quite hot inside.

The waiter who helped us in arrangement of a table was very helpful but overall service was not good and not professional. Socca is what they are really good at. We also tried Pissaladiere but it was a bit disappointment. Go there and order 2 times double Socca and Chez Pipo. Bon Appetit!
