Wonderful experience at Le Bistrot de Gillou! We were initially worried about not speaking French, but our server was accommodating and very patient with us. There is a special available as indicated on the menu with red markings. We got the chicken as well as sausage and lentils for our mains. Each was flavorful and cooked perfectly! To drink, I had fresh squeezed orange juice which was definitely fresh. For dessert, we had the crème brûlée, which was cooked to perfection. We sat on the front sidewalk on a lovely day and really enjoyed our late lunch here. Appeared to have several groups of locals inside and out. Would highly recommend and would come back next time we’re in Nice!

Small local restaurant. Exellent menu. Prices for main dish 15-25 euro. Rum baba for a dessert - I am fan of. And super red wine - don’t remember the name - the waitress recommended.

Absolutely loved this place. The quality of the products is incredible. The dishes themselves are original and really delicious. And it is actually not expensive. Plus? The waitress is lovely.

A hidden gem! Traditional French bistro where you will find the best dessert. Their dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients and seasoned with healthy and balanced taste. Crème brûlée was divine:) make reservations before you go as it often gets crowded.

The kind of bistro one imagines coming across in France. A true Mom and Pop; husband cooking, wife serving and the kids close by. Amazing food, warm hospitality. All you could ask for.

Cosy, very friendly service and great food freshly prepared! We came quite late into their service without a reservation, but they were extremely accomadating and everything was well prepared and served in a timely manner. Very reasonably priced for food and drinks, a great spot for good fresh local eats!

Excellent local restaurant and great staff Ingredients are fresh, great quality Sardines is my favourite, very tasty. Highly recommended! 👍🏼 (However, avoid it if you can’t stand fishy taste - to me it’s okay though) Linguine is okay, I prefer the one I tried in other restaurant Both desserts are nice, especially the chocolate! It has a bit of lava syrup inside

Great place! Everything is home made (no frozen dishes that were heated up). It has modest decoration, but friendly service and chef’s craftsmanship make the visit there great. Not to mention very reasonable pricing.

The menu changes every day here. I had their daily lunch menu special. The service is excellent and they serve lunch until late. I ordered the Clafoutis and a sausage with lentils combination. It was so delicious and filling. The server was very patient with my French and gave me great recommendations as to what to order. You will not regret coming here!

The perfect small restaurant. My fiancée and I were struggling to find many French restaurants in old town, without a reservation(most seem to be Italian). However, we came across this little gem and loved it! The menu was in French however the waitress was very happy to explain it to us. The meals, wines and deserts and service were brilliant. Being slightly out of the tourist trap of old town, this place had a great atmosphere without being too commercial. Great location: nice neighbourhood and close to tram line number 2. Highly recommend.

It was my WORST dishes during one week staying in Nice. It wasn’t really tasty in addition, they gave wrong bill.(of course, higher priced) There are too many good restaurant in Nice. You don’t need to waste your money and chance to have nice meal.

Cozy local restaurant, feels like family run place. Excellent service and good athmosphere. I liked a lot! Had grilled red peppers as a starter and squids, vegetables and rice for main dish.

We had a wonderful 3 course dinner at this restaurant. The food, wine, ambiance and friendly, helpful attitude of the lady who served us all combined to make it a lovely celebration for our 34th wedding anniversary. In fact, we were so impressed that we’ve made a reservation for lunch there next week, on the very last day of our holiday! As the restaurant is very small and extremely popular with locals in addition to visitors, reservations are recommended.

This is a wonderful, family run restaurant. The food was fantastic and they made us feel like family in the small, cute place. When we had problems communicating, Gillou would bring out items to help us (like cuttlefish). We went back probably 4 times during our stay in Nice and enjoyed it every time. You must try it!

Great authentic food. We had the quiche for entrée, and a salad artichaut and filet de durade for plates. Everything was cooked to perfection and delicious. Service was quick and warm. They spoke good English. Toilet was clean and scented.

The menu, which changes often, runs a happy gamut with a nice range of appetizers and desserts, several fish and seafood options, meat dishes including a satisfying portion of steak tartare from Charolais beef, served with the hard-to-resist fries, rabbit stew, and pasta, plus regional dishes like pissaladière. Everything is full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The wine and beer list is not extensive but well chosen.

Nice is the home to a multitude of bland tourist eateries. So it was good to track down this small bistro where the gutsy flavours of the old France have not been forgotten. Although fairly central, it is not on the tourist trail but seems to be well frequented by locals, always a good sign.

Amazingly delicious small bistro, owned by a sweet couple, serving local fresh food. There was a prix fixe menu and options for the vegetarians in our group.
