Beautiful church. We randomly arrived a few minutes before the Sunday mass, while the choir was rehearsing. The priest leading the choir had a lovely voice and charisma and we decided to stay for the duration of the mass. We were blessed to chance upon this beautiful cathedral, got in the procession that was so meaningful on Good Friday. Each of us carry a flower light to signify God’s sacrificial chapters up the apt slope in old Nice roads. Cathedral is very inviting and warm, aligns with the nice-ees who is so kind to show us how to unite with Jesus on the special day.

Stunning little cathedral in the centre of Nice's old town. Free to visit and it appears a lot of the guided tours go here. The art inside is worth visiting alone, it's incredibly well preserved and feels almost as if it was painted last week! Flash photography isn't allowed, probably to better preserve the paintings. If you're taking your time it will still only take the maximum of an hour so it's a good thing to see if you're spending the day in the old town.

As an Evangelical Christian I sometimes find these momentous buildings to be too ornate given how little people who lived only a stone's throw away had to get by on. Nevertheless I am always drawn to them and marvel at the beauty and perfection of so many of these outstanding works of art that are special in themselves but have added meaning if you believe that people built these edifices out of devotion to God. I suspect ego played a part too but I prefer to focus upon faith. Explore this holy place from top to bottom and find your own gems The location is perfect in the heart of the Old Town and the square in front of it has a good number of restaurants. We ate at the Claire Fontaine where the Pizza was superb. We asked for a plate of chips / fries as not on the menu. Very big portion for €6. "Stick in til ye stick oot" as they say back home.
