Outdated system to buy tickets. The first shock was to use the manual dial to select the language. Took us a minute to figure out which dial it is since the green color faded on it. Once we figured out to select English, then the next screen shows 2 sentences in English and the rest in French. After using google translate to find which tickets to buy, for adult it’s pretty much the first 1 “normal adult tartiff”, and the rest was easy from there. The train conductor was kind, spoke 3 languages on the train for direction (English- French-Italian) and pretty amazingly scenic ride from Nice to Monaco. I wish that they would get new machines so it’s much easier user friendly experience for their guests since everything else is. Trains are clean and people were nice. We commuted from Nice to Monaco for the F1 race and we were glad to have checked out the station the night before and bought the tickets in advance. The morning of the race was pretty hectic with long line. Helpful staff that told you exactly where to do and sped up a lot if you already got the ticket from the night before.

It's a very large Arles stone sculpture and forged steel rooftop with plenty of glass. The station was completed in 1867 by architect Louis Bouchot in Louis XIII style. It was built away from the centre although Nice has now extended around the station. The station has been remodelled several times but always kept its original style. I found the staff helpful but business like. No smiles. After purchasing first ticket all others were a cake walk. No assign seats just grab a train and flop down.

Horrible experience. We allowed ourselves 10 mins to buy our tickets and ended up rushing for our train because of the queues at the machines - which are very dated and not user friendly. On top of that, the screens for train times and platforms are nowhere to be found or they don't show the lines we are after. I asked two agents who were rude and palmed me off asking me to "look at the screens". We managed to get on our train thanks to the security guard who was the only friendly person able to advise and help us.

Online tickets do not work and are not scanned at the doors; you have to hold the doors to get on the train. A particularly terrible impression was left by the station workers, who could have helped, but as a matter of principle, do not do this if you do not speak French. They will remain arrogantly silent, shake their heads, or shout at you. Nice is a tourist city and you (Nice residents) make great money from it! This means that the service must be excellent. And if you are unhappy with tourists, then simply close your city to entry and leave it only for the French!

I’ve been here on several occasions and it doesn’t get any better. For a city that has so many visitors, their train station is confusing if you’re not from around here. The signage has a disorganised feel to it until you get used to it. The tickets machines are so slow, and it’s always packed so give yourself plenty of time if you haven’t pre purchased tickets. I love Nice but this station does my head in every visit.

The building is very nice: there is all what man needs,newspapers,snacks,coffee...but the service is terrible. We bought tickets two days in the ticket office but on the third day it was suddenly not possible. The ticket machines are very difficult to understand and 70% of them don't work. An advice - if you need a train ticket, buy one day before and take the calming pills.

I've been to train stations all over the world, but the inefficency of this so terrible it's worth an experience. The few ticket automates that work have different user experience, the ticket office does not have English speaking staffs (yes, it's true!) and there are no updated info boards on the platforms. It's a unique experience

Station has good amenities. Half the ticket macines are not working so you must wait fot 30 minutes to buy a ticket. Better to purchase tickets online ahead of time.

I was there when firstly got from the city of nice to the small country of Monaco 🇲🇨 The staff are friendly, and helpful, and they speak English. The trains mostly arrive in time, but they can have a slight delay. The trains are clean and comfortable. The checking in is also smooth and fast. The trains are clean and has double story for a bigger capacity and a better view ;) Enjoy the ride and take good pictures!

A few helpful tips for tourists (myself included). Book your tickets in advance on the Trainline or similar app. It's very easy and allows you to have an electronic pre-validated ticket. If you buy a hard copy, make sure you validate your ticket by inserting the QR code side into the yellow machine. You will know you're successful when you get a printed date/time stamped on the ticket. (Move the ticket around a bit if you get a red light - it can be a bit annoying). This station can get very busy at peak times. Be prepared to be very close with others while traveling around. Watch your personal items closely. At the end of the day this is one of the best and most cost effective ways to get around the French Riviera.

Decent train station, i think it'll be much better once upgraded, the works done so far look very nice. But at its current state it's very cramped and humid. Not very well organised and the staff weren't very helpful and in some cases rude

Beautiful train station! Ticket systems here are a bit strange, but plenty of staff to assist!

They have problems scanning tickets before you can enter the platforms, it is a beautiful train station and they have clean bathrooms where you can pay with the card.

Very cool train station. Looks pretty old-fashioned. Inside you have small choice of shops, and the station seemed crowded. The train station was too small. Train arrived on time :)

Good range of domestic trains running locally such as to Menton or Monaco and further across the country to Paris and Bordeaux and well signposted. Self service machines available to purchase tickets but most of them don't work, as well as ticket offices with staff on hand to help in French or English. However trains are always packed and late.

I have been in this station several times this year and few years back, and it has been always a good experience, I needed help several times and all the employees both on the rail side and inside the building were friendly, hospitable, professional, and pretty helpful. I also appreciate the Architecture of this station. Thank you for your service.

What a pretty train station. Staff here were a delight with staff speaking multiple languages. Tickets from the machine with credit card or can be bought with cash at the ticket office. Toilets 1€

Horrible station. I am a tourist and wanted to go to Monaco. The station was an absolutely chaos. Plenty of people everywhere trying to buy tickets but they experienced problems, nobody who can attend to buy tickets or say where you have to go, platform. I was shocked that in a city as Nice found this disorganization

Arriving at Nice Ville Train Station was a bit underwhelming. Although it's conveniently located and easily accessible, the station lacks the charm and elegance that many other European train stations possess. The interior is spacious and clean, but the atmosphere is rather sterile and uninviting. Visitors can expect average service from the staff, who seem to be more focused on their tasks than providing a warm welcome to travelers. While the facilities are functional and practical, there's not much to write home about in terms of comfort or luxury. The waiting areas are rather bland, and there's a noticeable lack of seating for the number of people passing through. One unique aspect of Nice Ville Train Station is its connection to the airport, which makes it a convenient hub for travelers. However, this doesn't quite make up for the lack of personality and charm that the station seems to be missing. One star is deducted due to the lack of ambiance and personality in the station. Another star is lost due to the limited seating, which makes it uncomfortable for travelers during peak periods. The third star is deducted due to the average service provided by staff. To improve the station, the owners could consider adding more comfortable seating and improving the ambiance to create a more welcoming environment for travelers. It would also be beneficial to invest in staff training to improve the level of service provided. While Nice Ville Train Station isn't the most glamorous or exciting destination, it serves its purpose as a functional transportation hub. I would recommend it to travelers needing to catch a train or connect to the airport, but don't expect a memorable experience.

Helpful staff, but has to be cleaned and have more benches for travellers.

Everything so perfect, clean, system in place n all but, it was tough time when I wanted to use urinal. How can a washroom on such a huge railway station be closed at any time? Also once you enter the station, you can not come out to use washroom!!! A humble request to facilitate. I had to rush in to a train to use the washroom and rush out before it leaves the station 😑

Very problematic, many of the employees refused to speak English at all. There was also problems with many of the automatic tickets machine, couldn’t choose language even though the machine had the options French, Italian, English. We were supposed to leave from platform C, but suddenly they switched to platform D. Besides all of these problems, I must say that it was a very nice train station plus for clean bathrooms that accepts card payment

A very beautiful train station both from outside and inside. You have to be aware that there are only a few ticket machines and the queues are long. Better is to arrive 30 minutes prior to departure.

Staff unhelpful and rude. Not prepared to deal with tourists.

As many others already have pointed out: this station has some serious technical issues. The machines used to scan boarding passes do not work and created long queues outside the entrance to the tracks. A group of staff stood only meters away but did nothing to help improve the situation. Hope I don’t have to travel from here again. If you have to - make sure to be there on time so you don’t miss your train.

One of my favorite train stations. It is so easy to get to, the direction is pretty clear, the staffs there are nice, and there are quite a few of vendors around for visitors convenience.

It connects to all the major places in French Rivera. It's clean & well maintained. There are many ticket machines. There's a piano that Travellers can play. There are escalators & elevators that take you to each platform so no need to drag luggage on stairs. There are vending machines on platforms & stores & coffee shops at the station.
