Located on Mount Cavalier, it is a Gallo-Roman monument. It is actually a pre-Roman building transformed in the time of Augustus (27 BC - 14 AD). It is the most imposing vestige of the very long Roman wall of Nîmes. The tower was 18 m high at the end of the 3rd century BC. Then in Roman times it was 36 m high. Today the tower is only 32.50 m high. You can go up the tower and from here there is a beautiful panoramic view of the city.

I really enjoyed visiting this monument. The gardens and playground on the way up were also a great sight. It is however at the top of a hill. Once inside there are many steps to climb to reach to the very top and enjoy the view. It isn't wheelchair friendly.

Beautiful view over the city, nice climb of about 140 steps inside the tower. Nicely kept Roman building, serious climb through the park upwards to the tower, however worth the trouble. Take enough water to drink!

Nice view over the city. But I wouldn’t climb it again. The parc surrounding the tower is lovely and worth the visit!

In this huge garden, this really beautiful ancient Roman tower is hidden, so to speak. After climbing the hill full of peculiar trees and narrow intertwined streets you arrive at the tower. To reach the top of the tower you have to climb spiral stairs, it is not advisable for those who have vertigo, because the void below could annoy you. The view of the city from above the tower pays off then all the fatigue.

This is a decent hike up the hills to the tour. Once inside it a bit of a work out to walk up those flights of stairs to the top. Once to the top we were very rushed to take a photo and then descend again because space is very limited and people kept coming up. They weren’t regulating the flow of people. This was a very ok experience for us. We basically took a quick look at the city from the top, snap a quick picture and had to rush out.

Magnificent views from the observer platform. You can feel the past.

Wonderful little hike through the park to the top through all kinds of different tree types and small water pools with wildlife (ducks, koi, and a big swan). You have to pay like 3€ to go up the spiral stairs to the top of the tower, but totally worth it.

To see a good view of the town is here on the tower, and hiking up a bit from the park is only 5 minutes. Nothing much to see except the town view.

Cheap to enter, €3 and €1.50 for children, or cheaper as a bundle to visit other attractions. Some information boards about the tower and Nimes' history, and then a windy walk to the top of the tower to get an amazing view of the city. It's only a small viewing platform, capability of comfortably fitting about 6 people.

This was included with our tkt bundle. Have to go through a large park. The tower has A lot of history that’s written out on boards in several languages. Nice climb up the stairs inside to get a view of the city.

Tour Magne in Nîmes is a captivating historical monument that offers panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. This Roman watchtower, once a part of the city's fortifications, stands tall on a hill and is a testament to ancient engineering and strategic planning. Climbing to its summit rewards you with breathtaking vistas of Nîmes, including the famous Roman amphitheater. While the ascent can be a bit steep, the view from the top is worth the effort. Tour Magne is a great spot to soak in the city's history and capture some memorable photos.

It had a nice view over the city and the stairs aren’t too bad. Only the hand sanitizer was very sticky

Added this to our visit as part of the amphitheatre visit. Well worth the walk to get a panoramic view of Nimes. You can either walk up the gardens to it or go via the streets then walk back down the gardens.

Recommended to buy the 3 museum package ticket, for 13€ including the tour magne, arena and the maison carrée, instead of buying the 6€ entrance fee for just the tour. Be careful for timing cz you will wait for your turn, the tour can hold 15 persons at ounce. Recommend also to read the story behind the reason of it's demolition.

Nice small walk from the city. Many flowers and butterflies. There is an entrance fee of €4.50,- I did not go in, but I imagine it's a nice view.

Don’t miss and be sure to climb to the top for a stunning view of Nîmes

The views from the top are stunning, best time might be the sunset. Highest point in Nimes. Try to combine entry ticket with nimes combi pass (with a.o. The arena). This way, the price is more reasonable. Great to visit if you are in nimes and/or the jardins around the tower, not required to visit nimes specifically for this building.

Awesome view of Nîmes and cool history. Entry price was 3.50 euro

Was interesting to see what the romans were capable of building over 2,000 years ago. This tower is still really well preserved considering it’s age. The view from the top was beautiful too. Climbing the steps to get up is a bit scary considering it’s a narrow staircase and you’re faced with heights. But all in all really worth it if you can go!

If you love ancient history and want to have an amazing view of Nines, this is your place. The walk from Nimes center is short and nice. I would recomend to go early in the morning, because only small groups can go upstairs. Beautiful place.

It is a very pleasant walk through the Jardines de la Fontaine and uphill, to this tower, dating back more than 2200 years. The interior of the tower is nothing but stairs; if you are keen on having a great view of Nîmes pay the entrance fee and climb the stairs. Avoid times of high visitor frequency because the platform on top is very small, and there is no traffic control.
