I've been coming here each year for over 15 years apart from last year. The food is great and good value. The owner is a little old grey haired lady, she is a legend, looks no different now to 15 years ago like she is frozen in time. Don't be fooled by her meek looking appearance, everyone jumps to her command. Just back again after last visit in early December. Still as good as ever.

Authentic Thai food. Tucked away under the Asok BTS, across from Terminal 21. Flavourful, tasty food and very nice atmosphere, both for locals and tourists. Enjoyed the meal and time there (must have mango sticky rice after the meal).

Easy access from BTS Asok.. Lots of people most of the time, a sign that food must be really good. Patronized by tourists & locals alike.. Foods are authentic, tasty and yummy-licious. Chicken pandan is a must as well as their soups.. Staff are nice and friendly 🙌👏.

Located at a small alley opposite Terminal 21 and just right below the Asok BTS ; you can indulge in this local Thai food restaurant with reasonable pricing. Food is pretty good with local taste. They do have English menu It’s not air-conditioned so if need one this is not the place for you. Closes on Sunday Open till 11pm

We kept the general comments in mind and tried to be good customers. But I observed around during our meal and indeed I've noticed the attendants change in personality depending on the customers they're tending to. 2 Asian senior ladies had the table beside us and was trying to get any of the wait staff's attention but it looked like the waitresses were deliberately averting their eyes from Asian customers near me. There were 3 aside from us. I had to call on one of them myself to inform that the ladies' beside our table are ready to order. . The food? "It's padthai. Not 'wow padthai' just padthai," was all I could say.

This place was delicious and inexpensive. My friend has been coming here for 45 years and the owner still works the floor with everyone else. You can get all the traditional Thai dishes, made we'll, with local and fresh ingredients.

Great local food. Be aware of their opening hours- even though the restaurant closes at 11pm, the kitchen closes at 9:30pm so if you go pass 9:30pm, you will be turned away.

Blast from the past when I saw this was still going strong after first coming across this restaurant about 30 years ago. Not much has changed thats probably why its still in business. Decent food at reasonable prices. Popped in about 4pm before our day 5 quarantine at the Landmark. Quiet not many customers. No stand outs in what we had and no disappointments. Just tasty fresh dishes. If you're in that area pop in.

A reasonable Thai food restaurant. Gets very busy at peak times and you will need to wait for a table. The food quality is average with a reasonable balance between price and quality. The Prawns in my noodle dish were edible but not great. The morning glory vegetable dish was good. Overall, a reasonable meal and price.

Quite a busy local joint, apparently has some reputation as last street food joint in Asok. Menu is simple, easy to pick what to eat. Food was rather average to be honest, the best for us was somtam. Noodles were ok. Pork satay to skip. Prices are good. Service rather slow.

Suda is such an iconic and cozy little restaurant which has been serving authetic Thai Streetfood since the dawn of time. Their restaurant is open all days and they are almost full at all times of day ❤️ It's a fully family-driven little place with 5 generations of the same family working simuktaneously to keep this place going and buzzing at all times of day 💪 Also, most importantly, the food is absolutely fantastic and tastes like Thailand and like Bangkok in every way. Its all made very traditionally and the service is always top notch, even if they still barely speak any english at all 🫶 I've been coming here for 25 years and this place is like a time-capsule which has never changed, so I will continue coming here as long as I keep visiting Thailand 🥰

Would never go through Bangkok and not visit this restaurant! A not so hidden gem anymore, as there was a waiting queue when I arrived last time even for one single person. Despite the years, still offers a large selection of the most amazing Thai food, with a feeling of home cooked and authenticity, all with a great service, a friendly atmosphere - don't be surprised if you make new friends there - and of course perfect food, ideally located by the BTS stop ASOK.

Just your average Thai restaurant. It’s conveniently located right on one of the asok station exit. The food was average and relatively inexpensive. Service is su par. You don’t get your normal warm service here. In fact our server looked annoyed. It was a place we ate on the last day since our hotel was closed by otherwise I wouldn’t really come here.

One of the best local restaurants in Asok. Not the cleanest. But the food here is amazing! All the basic Thai food. Locals and tourists come here. Even monday night it gets crowded around dinner time so recommend to go a little early. There is no AC or fans outside tables, so it gets very hot but you can enjoy live atmosphere.

It looks like family restaurant, the food are quite nice but it’s very slow and need to wait long. It’s warm also sit outside when waiting. Good food to try when in casual

Authentic Thai food with many locals and foreigners. I'm going there for many years and never disappointed. The Tom Yam Goon is brilliant

I visited this place a long time ago. Perhaps my first visit was not impressive, I waited many years to return and had dinner twice recently. A friend mentioned this restaurant exists forever. That old-school style shows its confidence in cooking and the wisdom of running a business for decades. We ordered a few signature dishes, famous papaya salad, fried marinated pork, stir-fried morning glory, and tom yum gong. The Papaya salad is fresh and tasty, and the fried marinated pork is my favorite. But I don't like the Tom Yum soup cooked here, as it tastes boring. It is popular and the staffers are a bit distant😅 They walk around, but hardly notice your needs either in asking for the menu or ordering food. I don't want to sound biased, but would they be more welcoming to non-Asian guests? Luckily we got to know one waitress Khun Nai. She looked serious but took orders efficiently. We left a tip for her. The location is just next to the Asok BTS station. It feels relaxing and authentic when you drink beers and eat regular tasty Thai food there. I might pay a visit soon and hope the service can be sped up a bit🙏

Great Thai food, lovely old lady and great atmosphere

A local restaurant close to Asok BTS station! When I come to Bangkok, every time I enjoy this restaurant. The location is very strategic, so it's easy to reach. And, there are few restaurants like this restaurant in the Asok area. Therefore usually it's full of customers and necessary to wait. This information is updated on January 2, 2023.

We had an event with locals and travellers at this restaurant. The locals took care of ordering the food and every five minutes a new dish was brought to the table. If you ask for it you can have the authentic Thai dish or a version that is a bit more toned down to accommodate "western" tastes. The clientele of the restaurant is a mix of locals and tourists (about 50/50 when we were there). The lady who runs the place is lovely and it was great to meet her and have a conversation, with the help from some of the locals. If you like to go for a stroll after dinner, the Benchakitti Forest park is just around the corner.

Price is reasonable for me. The customers are 70 percent tourists. Had a great local dinner and Thai beers with my thailand colleagues. The deep fried pork will take about 40minutes to serve. We tried order two rounds and waited so long.

It used to be better before Covid-19. My favorite crab meat with curry powder was dried and full of flavor. This time it was super wet and bland. The other dishes was OK. It was super packed when our group show up. We waited for awhile to be seated. It seemed like they were short of staffs. Also, the menu was shrink!!!

Pretty decent place to grab a quick meal. Averaging from 70-100 baht per dish. A bit slow during lunch time. Also offers menu written in English

Food was fast, delicious. Tom yam looks mean but not as spicy as it looks. And there was a generous amount of prawns.

No frills busy street food restaurant. The taste has been toned down and westernized. No bad though for first Thai dinner in Bangkok. 90% tourists.

I was hoping to have a really good experience after my hotel suggested I go here. Instead, as a non meat eater (pescatarian) my dinner turned up with lumps of chicken hidden in it. I advised the waitperson and all she could say was that she ordered only the shrimp from the kitchen. Not a great find for someone who doesn’t like chewing on bits of chicken and hasn’t for 30 years.

As good as always, not as cheap as it once was anymore, but true to its roots. A true gem with amazing food and the coldest beer or coconut. Good for lunch as well as dinner, offering a little bit of everything. I recommend the crab in egg and curry! It may look strange, but I promise it tastes amazing, and is one of the very traditional Thai dishes.

I have been here several times and always enjoy this place a lot! No luxury for sure but good service and really excellent value for money. An old style gem in a very busy part of Bangkok.

  • 1/5 Rach H. 1 year ago on Google
The pandan chicken was amazing but everything else was subpar. The crab fried rice was soggy and too peppery, the fried pork was not fresh, and the pad Thai was bland. The service was slow too as they were overwhelmed with clients. I would not recommend making a stop unless you are desperate.

😐 Seafood lunch buffet was good, the steak was soft and tender. No complaints here about the food. Only concern was that we booked for 2 people at 1300 baht each with Eatigo (10% off) and the bill came out to be 5564 baht. The waiter explained that this was because of the 10% service charge and 7% VA...
