Yesterday was my first time visiting Makan Makan with my friend who, in my opinion, recommends the best food places ever! She has been a regular customer of this place & after devouring a 3-course meal here, I completely second her recommendation! I am amazed at not only the quality of food, but also the service - the levels are unmatched! The Mamak Mee Goreng noodles, Penang Chicken Satay, Prawn Sambal Quesadilla were my favourites! And being an avid dessert lover, I can guarantee you that their in-house ice creams are the BEST IN TOWN! This is easily one of, if not the best meal we’ve ever eaten. I cannot recommend this place enough! Thank you so much for such a warm and welcoming environment! ❤️

A Malaysian-owned restaurant keeping it authentic and delicious with quality ingredients. There's a great selection of Malaysian dishes you just can't find elsewhere in Bangkok. We were spoiled for choice and could not try everything - would definitely revisit and try other dishes. Loved the curry selection for the nasi lemak and the vegetable sides. Also keep posted on week specials and also try the delicious homemade ice cream and cakes as a delightful end to the meal. Nice ambience and warm welcome from owners and staff. As a suggestion, you should consider offering some Malaysian desserts or kuih too as a week or weekend special and this place would be all arounded perfect.

As a Malaysian on holiday in Bangkok, I had the extraordinary pleasure of discovering a Malaysian dining gem that was nothing short of a culinary revelation. This establishment, which serves authentic Penang cuisine with a unique Eurasian twist, left me in awe with its distinctive flavors and innovative approach to Malaysian culinary traditions. The moment I walked into the restaurant, I was greeted by the tantalizing scent of Penang spices, and the ambiance transported me to the heart of George Town. The exterior and interior decor, blending the best of Malaysian and Eurasian aesthetics, created an inviting atmosphere that felt both nostalgic and fresh. The menu was a treasure trove of mouthwatering delights, but I couldn't resist starting with the Mamak Mee Goreng which was vegan based. The stir-fried noodles were a perfect balance of spicy and savory, coated in a flavorful sauce that danced on my taste buds. The addition of tasty sweet potato cubes and fried tofu added a delightful twist to this classic dish. For the main course, I had to try both the Devil's Pork Curry and Pork Vindaloo. The Devil's Pork Curry was a revelation of flavors—tender chunks of pork soaked in a rich, fiery curry that was tamed only by the fragrant, perfectly steamed rice. It was an exquisite rollercoaster of spicy goodness that left my taste buds tingling. The Pork Vindaloo, on the other hand, was an explosion of flavors in my mouth. The tangy and slightly sweet vindaloo sauce complemented the succulent pork beautifully. It was a delightful union of Eurasian and Malaysian influences, resulting in a dish that was nothing short of divine. This Malaysian dining place in Bangkok is a true gem for anyone seeking authentic Penang cuisine with an inventive Eurasian twist. The Mamak Mee Goreng, Devil's Pork Curry, and Pork Vindaloo are a must-try trio that will take your taste buds on a tantalizing adventure. The burst of flavors in every bite is an experience you won't soon forget, making this restaurant an essential stop for Malaysians in Bangkok and food enthusiasts alike.

Really tasty and authentic Malaysian food served here. The mee mamak is especially oily but delicious. The penang char kway teow is also very good. A must try is the nasi goreng with petai. It is out of this world! Friendly owner and staff.

It was a spontaneous and very fortunate discovery when we entered the Makan Makan restaurant a Sunday around 1pm. Our attention got caught first by the inviting entrance with its nice garden. Besides the Eurasian menu was peculiar enough and roused our interest. We opted for a brunch menu and that is when we got swept off of our feet! What an explosion of tastes and fragrances!! Some of the components have been cooked for two days… it melts in your mouth as a snowflake would. Compliments to the chef! Worth of notice, they immediately adapted their offer to make a vegan option as well. Last but not least, if you can indulge yourself in a final treat I highly recommend their homemade & artisanal ice-creams.

I've been looking for Penang prawn mee in Bangkok for a long time because I've missed my parent's hometown so much. Never thought I would find it here with the precise flavor I've been looking for! The food is great and authentic. I ordered Hokkien Prawn Mee, Char Kuay Teow, Mee Goreng, and the other 2 dishes (I couldn't remember the names 😅) All are great! The lady aunty is friendly too. Will definitely come back here often now that I've found the hidden gem in Bangkok.

The only star would be for their amazing Devil Curry. I waited for it for 30 minutes, the rice was cold. But the curry was so good, I also ordered Adam Pedas. It took 40+ minutes! The dish was ok, not special. I also asked for the bill a couple of times for 30 minutes, no attention until I came to the counter and insisted to pay. The staff was friendly but it's a restaurant, and it has to function. Yes, the Devil Curry is amazing, but I would say it's less of an effort going all the day to Malaysia instead of ordering in this restaurant.

Place has a good variety of Malaysian-European dishes. The flavor was great. The interior was cozy with a modern touch. However, hospitality wasn't that great even though there weren't many customers when we were there. Perhaps it's a cultural thing, but I regard a warm welcome highly when it comes to food places. Normally, I'm not a picky person, but this place gave me the impression that we weren't welcome. Thus, I wouldn't come back here.

Makan Makan is one of the best places to get Malay fusion food in Bangkok. From personable hosts to the cold beers to the sensational food, there is much to love and enjoy about this restaurant. The stuffed rotis were superb - We loved the spice and light fluffy roti. They were yum 😋 We ate the chicken satay, char kway teo noodles and nasi lemak. Everything was delicious. Perfect place to come for an amazing meal, cold drinks and a friendly chat with the New Zealand owner. Many thanks!

Visited this small restaurant recently for lunch on a Sunday, it was not busy and the owner/manager was friendly. Overall the food was good but one dish was a poor choice as it was just too spicy for our tastes. To be fair to Makan Makan, this was not their fault but ours. The prices of the dishes that we selected were fair and the service was both quick and friendly. The place was clean & bright. I have given 3stars for atmosphere as it did not suit my tastes, it is for others to decide on this variable. They do have some interesting artwork for sale as part of the decor. We parked in the Sharma apartment building opposite and the fee is 50 bht per hour with no free parking.

Wow, amazing food, faster than light service, the kind you get when it's clear the owners are invested amd passionate about their product. The Nasi Lemak is mind-blowingly good, sep lai lai, khop jai der Makan Makan. Will definitely be back again

Good fusion restaurant, simple and efficient. The price is quite good compared to the size of the plates. They have daily special dishes and a regular menu that with a good amount of choices. We tried the Mamak Mee Goreng, the Satay and the chicken special of the day. All were tasty and delicious. They also have traditional malay drinks, I tried the milk tea (similar to a Thai Tea) and it was good. The service was good and the food seemed to be freshly cooked. I recommend this place for any one who would like to try a new kind of food in Bangkok or even for a quick lunch/diner with friends.

Malaysian/Eurasian fusion restaurant. Fantastic friendly service. Great array of dishes on the menu. The masala fish burger was super interesting, never seen before. Had a nice kick and fish cooked well Pork meatballs rendang was excellent and again different to the usual style of rendang. Generous portions too Happy hour 5-8pm but it's just a standard one. Nice place to have a relaxing evening

Nice place for Malaysian food cravings... Though do not expect the same price as in Malaysia 😅 Location also very strategic if you are staying around Asoke area.

Ordered nasi lemak, penang char kway teow and ayam goreng berempah. All dishes were quite good and tasty. Nasi lemak came without ikan bilis (fried anchovies) though, which was alittle weird. I realised that other photos of the nasi lemak in google review came with ikan bilis. Service was acceptable and food served promptly.

Makan Makan is a nice little Malaysian restaurant on Sukhumvit Soi 16. It has a nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. Unfortunately we didn't like the food too much. They use a kind of long Indian rice which is probably difficult to find but it was hard. The pork my Thai friend ordered was very tough therefore she gave up on it. I had the signature fried rice which would have been outstanding if it wasn't for the rice. I feel sorry to only give 3 stars because I kind of liked the place. I had a root beer, the first in more than 40 years. Smile.

Truly, a must stop if you find yourself in Bangkok! Incredibly wonderful owners who have mastered the creation of Delectable foods and drinks with a wide range of exquisite flavours. My personal recommendations include the delicious Pumpkin soup, and the spicy yet flavoursome Devil Pork Burger. Also you must make sure to leave room for the desserts as the homemade ice cream and cakes are something that you can't miss!

😐 Seafood lunch buffet was good, the steak was soft and tender. No complaints here about the food.
