Another great castle rock boozer with a vast selection of beers. If you’re into whiskey there’s loads of that too. Always very chilled and offers a good respite after wandering along Mansfield road.

First time in the place for a long time. Met up for a few drinks before a reunion meal elsewhere. Live music was being set up which sounded good. Atmosphere was lively and the beer excellent. Always been a popular pub.

Well, what can I say, if you like real ales, handpullled with a cracking selection, then this is the place for you. Was busy, managed to find a table and service at the bar, was made enjoyable when waiting by the decent bar staff who, were knowledgeable and helpful. Decent outside smoking area with cubicles and seats you can sit out, out of the weather if bad and spend all night outside if the weather's good. Traditional decor inside that is comfortable and adds to the ambience and prices roughly £4 a pint, give it a go.

The best of the Castle Rock pubs in Nottingham if you ask me. Excellent range of beers and spirits, friendly and knowledgeable staff and plenty of room with a decent beer garden. Shall make this a regular stop!

Fabulous little pub with a wonderful garden on both hot and cold days. Excellent selection of beers as you can expect from Castle Rock, as well as a great selection of other tipples if beer isn't your thing.

Would have been 4/5 star as beer and music was very enjoyable. However, somebody flopped a steamer in the gene pool where a certain member of staff is concerned. She shouldn't be allowed near human beings.

The Lincolnshire Poacher remains a top notch traditional pub, serving reasonably priced food with a good selection of great ales. The atmosphere has something for most to enjoy. There is a great friendly atmosphere at thee bar and snug areas alike and the staff do a top notch job as well. I've been coming on and off for years and am certain to make another return when in the area.

Mansfield Road often has a bad reputation, but it is home to this king of pubs. A truly incredible place with a great selection of beers and whiskeys. I could happily spend all day here. The Lincolnshire Poacher rules supreme on Mansfield Road and a strong contender for the best pub in the entire city. 10-15 minute walk from the city centre but I promise you it will be worth it.

Semi-covered well-heated beer garden area out the back is the livelier spot, a bit morose indoors. Great ale selection, dog-friendly, chilli burger and sausage n mash were had and they were AWESOME! So, recommended. Parking is on street so will cost ye (£1.20 an hour).

Great pub and serves a good Guinness. I will definitely be coming back. Food is also served here, and it was decent enough.

This place is a Nottingham institution. A relic from an earlier time that should be cherished. Brilliant beer and whisky selection. Pretty good sausage and onion cob as well.

Arguably the best whisky and ale offering in Nottingham. Friendly staff as well.

Small quiet pub filled with history like other castle rock pubs but not enough of a choice for cider drinkers. Leans toward the older generation.

  • 5/5 Fred F. 10 months ago on Google
Lovely pub, always a wide selection of guest ales (a rarity for most Castle Rock pubs), a great beer garden, good atmosphere and some interesting regulars!

One of the best pubs in Nottingham if you like your real cask ale. It has around a Rosen to choose from. Doesn’t do posh tonic, just Sweppes for G&T aficionados.

Absolutely fantastic pub. Great beer choice. Good value food also available.

Wonderful pub with friendly staff and excellent cask beer (13 hand pumps) good pub food to

Friendly staff and well kept ales. I would prefer more guest ales other than Castle Rock beers, bit that's probably more a personal choice.

The Poacher is a lovely place to go for a quiet drink with good company. The pub is immaculately clean and tidy, with professional, polite and friendly staff. Will happily return again and again

Excellent traditional boozer. Great selection of Ale on but make sure you walk round the corner to the saloon bar as that is where they have the cider on. Has that cosy long wooden bench and olde pub signage on the wall feel.

From the Castle Rock pubs, great and local pub, the staff is outstanding and welcoming, great cobs. something they have live music in the evenings. Recommend indeed

I've enjoyed my visits to the Poacher ever since it opened. However, the pub now looks like it needs a lot of TLC It now looks quite tatty, and the bar staff could do with a customer care course. Wake up Castle Rock management before you lose a, once upon a time , classic boozer.

The food is so gastro exellence, it's hard to understand how. Superb. Ale fans get the great castle rock beers. A truly magnificent pub.

Superb range of real ales, craft beer and proper cider in this friendly traditional pub. The Poacher is a bit of an institution, and well worth the walk up Mansfield Road.

Lovely pub and outside area with a couple of beach huts for keeping the rain off and also they have a heater enclosed. Beer consists of a good range of well kept real/cask etc. Unfortunately the kitchen opens around 2pm on a Saturday, but they very kindly made a couple of rolls for myself and the missus. Just wish it was not up a long hill, can't wait for every thing to get back to the old normal. A Castle Rock pub.

Excellent beers. But the pub is not very friendly and welcoming. I think the staff could chat to customers more if nothing else.

Last time I was here was 40 years ago and whilst shops on the Mansfield Rd have come and gone I'm happy that this place retains it's friendly atmosphere. A downhome pub with a decent selection of beers and spirits, no juke box, no hipsters and sadly no seafood hawker- where did the time go!

Great range of real ales. The pub is a bit like a tardis, it goes on and on. Really spicy chilli con carne.

I've a lot of love for the Poacher. Lovely staff & a good rotation on proper beer. They'd 107 whiskys last time I checked! Good mixed unpretentious clientele. 'House band' are great for Wednesday nights and Sunday evenings too I believe. Occasional other live music also.. Oh, and food is great too. Christmas dinner last year blew me away.. Nice one

👍👍 Absolutely amazing! I went to have lunch on my graduation day with my friends. Food was very flavourful and cocktails were nice. Special dietary options are available and you always get 2-4-1 cocktails. Service was really friendly and approachable. Ambience and music is just cherry on top.
