I ordered haddock, large chips and mushy peas for the eye-watering price of £14.65. Firstly, where was the rest of the fish? A tiny portion that wasn't quite up to temperature on the inside. Very off-putting. It was also packed inside a large separate box by itself, so it cooled down very quickly. The chips were below average, slightly dry, and reminded me of oven chips. The portion size was way over the top and could have easily fed 3 hungry people. As per photo, I could only squeeze one third of the chips onto a large plate. The mushy peas came in a tiny little cup for which I was charged the princely sum of £2. I was overcharged and underwhelmed. Never again.

Cod Scallops - voted best fish and chips in UK Very quaint small restaurant / takeaway. Sells an extensive range, I would recommend the Monkfish. Curry sauce - fruity but spicy. Very nice. Car parking outside - free Takeaway- Served in box’s with wooden cultelry. Would highly recommend and will visit again.

Really delicious food. 2nd best fish shop we have had. My wife ordered deep fried haddock and chips with lemon on the side and it was good. I ordered deep fried smoked haddock with chips and lemon on the side, it was delicious and came on 3 fist sized pieces. The options available here are overhwelming and motivate me to come back to try more options. Picked up some chili mayo for the chips and defiently recommend that sauce. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will come back again. Also mondays apparently you can get fish cooked in beef batter, we are defiently coming back to try that!

Used to be amazing, I remember the first time we had it and was wowed. Last few times chips are dry and lack flavour due to change in oil, wasn't sold on the scampi either, I would say this is now just a standard chippy with a higher price point. Definitely moving towards a chain and lacking any individuality in my opinion. I don't think I will order anymore but wish you all the best,

Really impressive fish n chip shop. There is a wide variety of fish on offer, swordfish, oysters, scallops and more alongside traditional haddock and cod. The chips are actually cook beef dripping which gives them a very distinctive taste. Only had take away but the counter service is great, friendly team here. The food is excellent and I recommend it to anyone looking for a top chippie!

Ordered online which was clear and easy, went to collect at the time told and when arrived food was ready to go 👍🏻, also worth mentioning the staff are very friendly and accommodating, we 2 x Mini fish, chips, and mushy peas; and a fish, chips, and fry its (see pic). All food was amazing and very tasty we have used the wollaton branch numerous times before and they never disappoint, I would definitely recommend The Cod’s Scallops

Really excellent haddock and chips. The batter is light and not oily and the fish was really good. Wider range of fish than other fish & chips places and can be fried or baked.

There aren't many tables, so we deliberately turned up early to avoid disappointment. I'm glad we did, there were people queuing by 12:30. £10 each for the lunch special - Mini Cod, chips, peas, tartare sauce, and a coffee. Couldn't fault the food or the service.

Okay so unfortunately this was incredibly disappointing meal. Having eaten here numerous times in my previous time in Nottingham pre covid I was excited to get back and stuck in again. However when the food arrived I was presented with the most pitiful piece of cod I have ever seen. Fine it was cooked pretty well but this did not ofset the value lost in its size and the flavour was good but not beyond reckoning as it would have needed to be to justify itself at that size and price. It was thinner than paper and as short as my trump hands. Frankly I would have just been okay with it had it been a mini cod. But for a 14 quid piece of fish it was embarrassing. I will not be ordering again, despite the overall quality being satisfactory for that price I expect. Much MUCH better. Please see photos for reference.

Iv always been to cod skallops many times in the past was always a bit pricey but the food was lovely. How ever iv been the last three times and the prices keep going up the portions are getting smaller the cod wasn’t cooked properly it was bland the time before as well the chips taste like they have been cooked more than once it’s really gone down hill. How they won awards I don’t know. The large haddock was smaller than a small cod and even if the price was half of what it is now I still wouldn’t go back again. Over priced over valued over cooked. Really not worth it.

Good taste, average portions, prices seemed reasonable but I'm not local. Was rather busy at lunch. Came here with a group, tried a variety of their fish types for the fish and chips, plus some of the other seafood as well. Overall most tasted good, and the fries had good texture though did need the sauces or more salt. Had the cod, haddock, hake, salmon, scallops, cockles, and the steak pie, getting the cod and the haddock as part of their special offer. Personally thought the cod and haddock were the tastiest of the bunch. Others liked the pie. Cockles were just ok.

I was not impressed to pay £3 for a regular portion of very dry and crisp chips. Clearly they are overusing chemicals to keep the chips fresh. They were so dry and crisp they were not nice to eat. I should have returned them. Best plan is to cut them and fry them like George's in Ilkeston. So the are fresh and not like oven chips. Also £3 for a box of fried potatoes. Also fish is expensive. Nice place and expansive menu but if you cannot even get a box of chips right! They need to work on it, sad really.

Not only was it the best fish and chips but even the side salad was tremendous. Prices and service were excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch! Wish we had somewhere as good in Worcester!

Unfortunately this usually excellent restaurant let me down. 2 portions of uncooked fish was a very poor show. After the 2nd portion turned up raw inside and my companions having finished their meal I gave up. The Staff were super apologetic and amply adjusted my bill, but I did get to eat a portion of excellent chips.

Ordered food to do from Carrington branch last year, the fish was uncooked and the soup was frozen (didn’t even bother to defrost it let alone heat it). My husband picked up food from there tonight. Scampi is definitely from another supplier as it is smaller and way too salty. And the soup I ordered was transferred in a coffee to go mug and the plastic lid had split into pieces floating inside the soup. Just awful awful quality of food.

The is a reason why this place is the UK best chippy. The reason is it just is! Food is excellent. Always cooked fresh and to perfection, portion size is very generous and service always with a smile, even in their busiest times. Keep up the great work guys!!!

Excellent chippy, does precisely what it says on the tin. Not a lot of seating in restaurant, but we've had a very cosy time when we've eaten in (pre panini, obviously), and it's good for takeaway as well. Love their fried Brussel sprouts; this is a desperate bid for that to be added to the all-the-time menu, not just the holiday one!

Fish and chips is excellent. Haddock is creamy and batter is well flavoured and cooked. Chips are some of my favourite chip shop chips ever (obviously a personal element). Ketchup is also good. Prices are not too had given the quality, and the wide range of options not often seen makes this a must visit!

Went there last week on a normal weekday around 3pm, think most staff was on break as the staff didnt know what to do when I ordered Fried Oysters. Fish was very nice but the batter was over salted to the point it was burning your tongue. Probably their OFF day. Will visit and try again

The best fish and chips ever. Spotlessly clean micro restaurant with excellent friendly staff. Better than five stars *****+

I have eaten here previously so happy to return but the experience was much different so suspect the restaurant has changed hands. Ordered the large Cod but when it came you could tell it had been cooked in dirty oil as it was brown and not golden, when you moved the fish you were left with a dirty oil slick on the plate and the fish inside was dry having been over cooked. The chips were warm though it appeared they had been kept warm and not at all crispy, considering it was 6.45 at night and a regular trade I was very surprised. I mentioned these issues to the server when he took our plates and he just said he would tell the cook and walked off. There has to be better options locally to spend your money to have a decent fish supper?

Our first time eating from here and we had a take away. Delivered in good time and hot. The fish was beautiful and so nice to be able to have the option of having baked fish instead of battered. Thank you. Regular chips were HUGE. Any chance of a small portion being available as far too much for one person? Also tried the fish cakes which were beautiful, the fish soup which wasn’t a favourite and the chickpea curry. The curry was lovely but the potion was tiny and not enough for a meal in its own. Great as a topping for the baked fish but pricy for what you get. Obvious quality ingredients and cooking. Would definitely use again.
