Really enjoyed the tempura soba and even more so the cold soba. I thought that was very unique to dip the soba noodles into the broth then eat them. All around it was a very delicious meal and I would go back again. One of the highlights was sitting at the communal table and interacting with locals with limited English. Great experiences!

Simple fuss free meal here for days when I want a light meal. Love the cold soba noodles and the tempura batter was light. Ordered the tororo to dip the cold soba in and it gave a slimy silky eggy texture which was interesting (in a good way!).

Onsen egg is really really good! The size of soba is way more than Tokyo. Surprised. If you are not a food fighter, “rice ball and onsen egg set” is for you. Rice ball was really good, wish to have that for breakfast every morning. Ps, staff speaks good english and was really nice ; ))

It was worth the hour in line. I ordered the grated Japanese yam cold soba, regular size. The egg and yam, with the added wasabi dipping sauce was a whole new experience. It coated the soba and made it so silky. I couldn’t get enough of it! I’m not a big eater but I ended up ordering a second soba because it was so good! And also wanted to try the hot soba 😋 got the shrimp tempera and it just hit the spot. Warmed me up so satisfyingly. I did end up preferring the cold soba dish more because the texture of the noodle and it held together better. Very friendly people and the order came quickly. They open at 5:30 - 8pm for dinner and I didn’t get their lunch hours.

Butadon is good but not special. Soba is OK. Its soup has balance taste; not too salty, nor too sweet. The price is reasonable.

Loved the soba and udon here. Warm and hearty dinner. Service was fast too and didn’t require reservations.

They serve good Ramen / Soba which is excellent for the cold weather here. I ordered hot Tentoji Soba & tea 🍵 for 1,100 JPY.

Truly excellent soba place in the heart of the village. Very notable quality of tempura which accompanies the soba (light, ethereal batter - unlike many), with good range of vegetable choices. A plus is that they are open for late lunch - a boon after a big morning of riding/skiing!

This place get pretty busy at night. On a cold night, waiting outside for a long time was not something I desired. We did go back during lunch and they weren’t as busy. Their soba was good and and portion is quite generous. Everything is reasonably priced.

Typical little place where the ratio atmosphere, food quality/taste and price is perfect. We didn’t wait that long and it was 7 of us. Totally worth your money one evening.

Hits the spot in a cold day and tired legs from the snow. Staff spoke English and food is hearty and delicious. Don't come with expectations of Michelin star. It is just a down to earth soba/udon restaurant.

Dropped by for a quick lunch of soba noodles. Try the Maitake tempura for something different

If you have a sudden soba craving in Nosawa, this is the place to go. The connoisseur knows that the cold soba has better texture and reveals the delicate taste of the noodles. Also you can order hot soba soups with other ingredients.

Yummy affordable hot soba noodles. Got the tentoji soba noodles. Was very thirsty afterwards. Great for a cold winter.

Always great food and service here. One of my favourite spots for lunch or dinner in Nozawa. Soba is great! Recently ordered a don bowl for the first time which was tasty too.

Very limited option for food. Small restaurant with constraint sitting area. Suitable for 1-2 pax dining quick meal maybe

I'd suggest going during lunch than dinner. As a walk-in, the food was good but nothing to rave about.

Good selection of soba variations, tempura and a few other bits. The star of course is the soba noodles

Tasty food that was quite basic and filling. I wouldn't say it was anything amazing, but it did hit the spot after a long day in the snow. Customer service was good and they speak English which is great. The place was constantly pumping customers, both foreigners and locals.

Small little restaurant in town (20-seater). The restaurant has a simple menu. They specialize in cold and hot soba and udon. The portions of the cold soba is quite generous. The tempura was quite good too. A place to try when in Nozawa Onsen!

Tasty meal! We had the Tororo soba and udon with onsen cooked eggs!!! We also had the soba ball dessert - it's like sticky mochi with a molasses syrup! Yum! Nice spot, right in town, easy to find on tourist map. Tororo soba: 950 yen Udon with mountain veg and added onsen egg: 1000 Dessert: 350 yen

Thought this was a good soba noodle restaurant and enjoied the meal. You can get Onsen egg in your soup which i think is a nice touch. The restaurant is very popular, so you have to check in several times to see if there is a table availabe - two people are allowed to wait in the restaurant. You can also reservert a table for 5.30 pm. This is the only time slot they allow reservations. I believe this restaurant has a high rank on TripAdvisor but you can find similar quality other places around nosawa, so don't think this is the only place to go.

👍👍 Atarashiya has to be one of my favourite restaurants here in Nozawa Onsen. I have been coming to Nozawa for over 8 years now and ever since my family and I have discovered this restaurant, we have come here every trip! The food is so delicious and I can't wait to go back! Definitely recommend trying...

👍👍 Situated halfway down Paradise, Buna has perfected the combination of good quality food and good views. On a blue sunny day, you can enjoy dining with beautiful scenery. On a windy snowy day, you can appreciate coddling in the heat and enjoying a hot bowl of miso soup. Would recommend getting the N...

😠 I used it when I went to Nozawa Onsen. Employees were very rude and discriminatory. I thought Japanese people were polite, but it was the exact opposite and their attitude was very bad. I really recommend not using this place. I will never go to Nozawa Onsen again.

👍 Expected it to be easier to find vegetarian and vegan friendly food in famous Nozawa onsen but it's one of the most difficult places I've been to in Japan even in western style eateries like this. The cucumbers and miso, wedges and tofu kimche burger were the closest options I could find in the town...
