We had the most wonderful time at this lovely hide away. The staff was extremely attentive and courteous not to mention the genuine pride they showed us in their hospitality. The premise is well appointed and cozy-timeless yet contemporary at the sametime. The superbly maintained garden is a rare gem.

The bungalow is located one kilometer away from the town of Nuwara-eliya. Surrounded by a peaceful and greenery environment. It is an excellent location to do sightseeing or walking around the city from. I found and highlight the bookshelf which contains a wide variety of books, magazines, and novels was amazing Especially best-selling books and classics from the 1970s and 1980s did not take my eyes away. One can play croquet, board games such as Monopoly, Chess, and jigsaw puzzles during the leisure time which kept myself entertained when it was pouring. The rooms are very spacious and comfy. The 6 rooms are named with their ancestors' names such as Isabelle, Frederick, Louise, Amilia, Suzanne and Geraldine. The staff is very friendly, helpful and well-informed about the city.

We recently toured Sri Lanka and stayed in 5 different hotels during our 8 day stay. Ferncliffe hotel was by far the best hotel we stayed in. The service was 2nd to none Bernard went out of his way to make our stay perfect. On arrival he had the fire lit and received us with tea and freshly baked scones. After a long walk in the pouring rain in Horton Planes we arrived back to once again a roaring fire, hot chocolate and cookies. The hotel room was spotless and the views of the garden beautiful. All the food was freshly prepared from their gardens. One of the loveliest touches was the hot water bottles in the bed if an evening after the long days it was most appreciated. Thank you Bernard we loved our stay. Stay safe and make sure that chefs still there when we return!!

Wonderful staff, gorgeous old colonial house, beautiful garden, and a placid atmosphere that is made all the better for the thoughtful staff and attention to details. We also had one of the best meals of our trip here—the chef is exceptional. We would stay in this otherwise lackluster town again just to stay at this venue.

Staff is very nice & provide their best service. This place is 172 years old building they are maintaining well & keeping colonial style. You can relax well in the garden. They serve any type food. Bungalow was originally owned by a British & now owned by a local.

I stayed at Ferncliff for three nights in Feb 2023. It was a wonderful stay at a beautiful and very atmospheric hotel with superb customer service. Bernard was incredibly welcoming and helpful. We really appreciated his help with organising various trips (eg transport to Horton Plains) and very thoughtful touches such as hot water bottles, a fire in the evenings and packed breakfast for our Horton Plains trip. He insisted on getting up at 5am to make the latter freshly for us along with coffee before we set off. The food was delicious, we particularly enjoyed the Hill Country speciality black pork curry, but everything was wonderful. There are delicious British food options as well as Sri Lankan.

It's very nice and Wonderful place, full of character and old world charm yet with all modern facilities. Service was very warm and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent chef cooking either traditional Sri Lankan or English as you wish. We had porridge for breakfast with home made papaya juice. They grow a lot of the fruit and veg themselves. Not far from town centre but set in its own grounds of well kept gardens

Wonderful hidden gem. The bungalow has a 180 year history. Well manicured gardens. Warm fireplace. Excellent food cooked to order. Very quaint feel to the place. Just walking distance to Nuwara Eliya city center and markets.

Set away from the bustle of town this once private home manor, has been converted into a boutique hotel. They have kept the original building as is and the staff are amazing in giving the heritage behind it. Food portions are massive and tasty. Rooms are very comfortable with huge king size beds. Loved our stay here!

The premise is well appointed and cozy-timeless yet contemporary at the sametime. The superbly maintained garden is a rare gem. Chef Dinesh was so nice in offering us a variety of delicious local dishes to try. All the vegetables are from their own organic garden and you can taste how fresh they are. Bernard was always close by and ready, making our stay the most pleasant one. You must try their high tea by the fireplace with fresh homemade cream. Superb food, seamless service and clean! clean! and clean :) We shall definitely return everytime we visit Sri Lanka. A big thank you to Mihiri and Duminda for introducing us to this wonderful gem.

Service is excellent. Such a lovely historical old property. But waking up in w very cold room (17C and high humidity) is something I wanted to avoid in Nuwara Elliya. I expected a bit better for 200usd/night. The heater wall cold in the morning (powercuts?) Bathroom needs fresh paint.
