Love this lake! Wish it was a swimming lake but that would be my only complaint! That and how busy it's gotten here lately but that comes with the growing population in this town I guess LOL. I've lived here since I was in third grade and I'm now 30. I love to go and just sit and watch the wildlife and look at the beautiful lake and scenery and just relax, my husband loves loves loves to go there to fish with my youngest son. They love to go to the damn walk on, it walk on the back side where you can go down and explore and fish. It's just amazing. We haven't even tried all that extra activities they've just recently started doing there so six stars if I could now that they started that stuff. 👍👍🥰🥰 **Update** I now LOVE fishing as well 😂

It’s a wonderful place for walking, picnicking, fishing, kayaking and other activities.. It’s calm and peaceful The view is beautiful and stunning specially when you watch the sunset.. You can have lunch with your friends or family on the benches while listening to the birds whispering and the sound of the water..

My first visit and this place was so serene. I was there with my friend just walking, talking and it was peaceful. Very pocket friendly and family friendly. Fishing is allowed however I don't know if you need a license. This place is definitely a historic building. I think the city should invest in cleaning it up and taking down the hornets nests. Definitely a place with historical value.

Lovely place to walk. Felt relatively safe. Neat experience to be able to walk over the dam. Lots of turtles to look at along the dam pathway. Seemed like there were multiple good fishing spots as well.

Great quiet place to watch the water and wild life! Ducks, sea gulls, pelicans, fish etc. Its winter so not much going on. Visit the Farmers Coop on the north side. The actual kids park and skate park are very nice.

I love this lake. Been coming here since i can even remember. A great place for fresh air and a gorgeous view. A nice little park now too. And not saying I have, or haven't, but I'm betting it's pretty romantic, and with good timing, some nice mostly private spots to duck off in. You know😉😎

Enjoy coming here from walking to the scenery. Pet friendly, fishing enjoyable around the lake. Picnicing or pavilion available along with a small play area for children. Paved walking, jogging, biking path that one can enjoy from the Bethany area all the way to OKC if a long bike ride is in order. Riversports also gives access to paddleboards or kayaking or take your own and enjoy a leisurely paddle on the Canadian River for the day or just an hour. A must visit.

I only stayed on one side of the lake, but it was quiet, and the trail was clean. There is some trash in the water along the edge, but it's not too bad. I didn't stay long, nor did I go far since it was a nippy that day. The houses along the trail were nice to look at while walking.

Love to get my dog and grab my fishing pole when I go out here. There are spots where you can toss your line in the water and take a couple of steps back into the front seat of your vehicle and just chill.

Nice, quiet place. Turtles all over the place. It was very nice that you could walk over the old dam. I'm not sure how safe it would be at night, but I felt safe during the day. Would have been 5 stars, but they could really clean the place up and get rid of some of the wasp nests.

This is a very nice area. There are lots of wildlife and fish (ducks, geese, beaver, catfish, turtles, carp, and heron). The park is pretty clean, but there is some trash that either blew from cars or nearby homes. We tried to pick up the water bottles and plastic bags that were close to the water. If you have children, there is a playground area close to the Route 66 area. Overall, we had a nice time. If you go in the warmer months, make sure to bring some water.

Beautiful place. I spend many nights out here personally. Usually I bring my kayak and enjoy some fishing (though I'm not very good) Excellent place for family and friends looking to get out and enjoy nature. There is hiking trails behind the dam if you're looking to explore or adventure. The scenery of the dam is beautiful however as long as you can work past the spider webs. I highly recommend for anyone looking to relax and let go for a time or two.

We went to the Route 66 Park. It is a pretty well kept park, large playground with plenty of space to run around. It's not disability friendly however. Looks like there is a small go-cart track as well but I didnt get closer to find out. There is an ice cream truck that regularly comes by. Plenty of ducks/geese and birds to feed but there isn't any benches by the water. Definitely dont leave your food unattended or else the birds will come help themselves!

Nature at it's finest. Very pretty area and a paved bike path. Just watch out for the prima donna bicyclists, they hate it when you're in the way slowing them down. Beautiful lake but it seems to hold only 5 to 10 fish. Hard to catch a fish here.

  • 5/5 Melanie H. 3 years ago on Google
Today was beautiful. The grounds were dirty but considering the 9virus I am sure park maintenance is scarce and should be. We saw a family if ducks and a small crane. Wow the cranes legs are super skinny. The park was nice in the beautiful weather that was pleasant but not too hot. Very relaxing

I was fishing at Lake Overholser and this looks like Route 66 Park & Ampitheater which is a terrific place to visit also. If fishing, a state license & daily permit required for ages 16 & up. Dogs should be on a leash. Follow the rules and have fun!

I have lived in OKC for over 20 years and have never been to Lake Overholser. It is a beautiful make with lots of areas to stop and just relax and take in the scenery. Lots of people were out fishing. It made for a nice Saturday afternoon drive.

Safe place for my friends and family as far as I know. I like the Overholser area. Diversity and safety for the most part. There was a creepy old man riding an expensive looking bike who verbally assaulted us while we were reading from The Bible. Cops were nicer than him when they showed up.

  • 4/5 Stuart M. 3 years ago on Google
I really enjoyed my early morning hike this morning, really nice flora and fauna, plenty of good fishing, I saw some beautiful wildlife in the wetland trail, but do take care whilst walking over some of the older timbers, however at the Route 66 Amphitheater, there was rubbish strewn, which looked very unsightly, I shouldn't moan but how easy is it to take your trash back with you?
