Campsite
was
a
beautiful
campsite
just
a
shame
about
the
owners
communication
issues.
Me
and
a
friend
both
with
Aspergers
(Autism)
we're
touring
Europe
last
week.
We'd
pre-booked
a
number
of
campsites
as
we
travelled
from
a
scout
camp
in
the
Netherlands,
up
to
Hamburg,
Billund
(Denmark)
and
then
down
to
Nijmegen
and
on
to
Luxembourg
.
All
the
stops
were
planned
for
various
reasons
and
the
reason
I
chose
Nijmegen
as
a
stop
was
because
I
heard
that
one
of
my
favorite
Dutch
singers
was
born
in
the
town
(Jeroen
van
de
boom)
and
I
wanted
to
see
the
town
inspired
him
to
make
such
a
beautiful
cover
of
Mag
Ik
Dan
Bij
Jouw
which
is
a
song
that
has
such
"mooie"
(beautiful)
lyrics
However
when
we
visited
the
campsite
the
owners
attitude
couldn't
have
been
any
further
from
the
song.
When
we
booked
the
campsite
the
booking
stated
arrival
was
"vanaf
14:00"
or
from
2pm
(I've
been
learning
Dutch
for
two
years
now
so
was
quite
able
to
read
the
booking
email.
We
drove
from
Denmark
across
Germany
to
Njimegen.
During
this
journey
we
did
get
stuck
in
a
lot
of
heavy
traffic
on
one
of
the
autobahns
near
Brussels.
When
it
got
to
about
7pm
we
noticed
our
satnav
at
this
point
was
saying
we
should
arrive
by
9pm
however
there
may
be
more
delays.
At
this
point
we
pulled
over
to
call
the
campsite
and
explain
we
wouldn't
be
arriving
till
about
9pm,
possibly
later
because
satnav
was
saying
there
was
still
more
delays
-
the
other
campsites
we'd
been
to
in
Europe
up
till
that
time
had
there
receptions
open
till
about
10pm
anyway,
the
Luxembourg
campsite
kept
check
in
open
till
midnight!!!
When
we
called
we
got
nothing
but
an
answerphone
but
still
left
a
message,
we
also
sent
an
email
to
the
site
to
ensure
everything
was
OK.
We
had
no
response
from
the
owner
about
the
fact
he
was
unhappy
about
us
arriving
so
late
until
we
arrived
(had
he
taken
time
to
call
us
and
tell
us
no
on
the
route
we
would
have
tried
to
find
an
alternative
at
that
point)
According
to
the
owner
his
reception
closes
at
7pm
however
on
the
booking
this
is
not
made
clear
at
all
-
all
it
says
on
the
booking
is
arrival
from
2pm.
When
we
arrived
the
owner
told
us
he
was
not
happy
as
he'd
been
working
since
8am
this
morning
and
spent
20
minutes
telling
us
off
for
being
late,
and
also
deciding
whether
or
not
to
give
us
a
pitch
as
it
wasn't
his
problem
if
we
didn't
have
a
pitch.
Eventually
he
did
agree
to
give
us
a
pitch
but
we
really
didn't
appreciate
being
so
intimidated
I
thought
about
saying
something
at
the
time
about
his
lack
of
communications
until
we'd
arrived
but
if
we
didn't
get
a
pitch
we'd
be
stuck
in
Nijmegen
with
nowhere
to
stay
I
didn't
fancy
saying
anything
to
make
the
situation
worse,
plus
we
did
feel
quite
intimidated,
especially
when
he
asked
us
is
it
normal
in
Britain
for
people
to
turn
up
so
late
to
campsites
-
well
In
Britain
it
depends
on
the
campsite,
some
backpacking
campsites
accept
visitors
right
up
to
1am
but
they
usually
make
it
clear
on
the
booking
what
the
latest
time
they
accept
people
and
they
do
usually
show
a
bit
of
leniency
when
people
have
got
stuck
in
traffic
instead
of
intimidating
customers.
Maybe
next
time
on
the
book
in
details
it
should
be
more
clearer
that
check
in
is
from
2pm
to
7pm.
It
seems
what
we
had
here
is
a
lack
of
proper
communication
which
was
a
real
shame
because
otherwise
the
campsite
was
quite
nice.
It
was
nice
to
be
camping
on
the
river
side
of
the
dijk
and
waking
up
to
seeing
all
the
boats
passing
(which
is
why
I've
given
it
three
stars)
.
Also
in
the
morning
the
restaurant
down
the
road
served
us
some
nice
ice
cream
sundaes
for
breakfast.
The
owner
did
say
in
the
morning
he
might
be
a
bit
more
happy
but
we
were
still
quite
scared
from
the
night
before
to
go
and
properly
say
hi
to
him
and
just
preferred
to
just
get
on
our
way
after
breakfast.
Based
on
the
campsite
I
would
have
liked
to
stop
there
again
at
some
point
in
the
future
to
explore
nijmegen
properly,
and
I
suppose
next
time
at
least
I'd
know
not
to
arrive
later
than
7pm.
