Few years ago restored, now it's an amazing place, and offers a great view/panorama of the city. It may be difficult for some of you to climb up, as it is quite narrow and in some places steep, but it's worth it. Also the square around the tower is beautiful and has some ancient walls under a solid glass surface. Free entrance.

If you want to see a breathtaking view of Baia Mare from above, this is the place. Stunning from the outside and inside. Keep in mind the tower can be visited based on the schedule posted outside ( usually at sharp someone comes and opens the door, tickets can be bought from the info point - 2 ron or something similar). Definitely worth it.

A nice historical building in the center of Baia Mare. They did a pretty well job with thw restauration. You can have a very nice view over the city of Baia Mare. It is cheap to visit and it should not take a long time to do so, it is a quik stop. You can then visit the city center and have something to eat or drink because you are close to everything.

One of the main attractions in Baia Mare, the tower seems recently renovated and it looks really nice. It can be visited for a very cheap fee, but you need to read the instructions for visiting the tower near the entrance. We read them afterwards and missed the fact that the bell is still in service and the visits depends on the time intervals when the bell is ringing. There is a nice view of the city from the top of the tower and 15 to 30 minutes should be enough for the visit. The square where the tower is located is nicely renovated as well, hence while in town, spending 1 hour here is very relaxing

The Tower's plaza is well designed and also incorporates two churches. Tower access is free but keep in mind that only a handful of people can enter and climb to the top as there is only one way in/out.

Too bad we cannot give a 0 because their staff does not deserve 1 star. We wanted to visit today, but the lady told us that, although they were still open and during working hours, she wanted to leave early, so we were not allowed to visit the tower. Customer service at its best...NOT!

Rising up between the center buildings from Baia Mare, Stephen’s Tower (Turnul lui Ștefan) it is a standing piece of history from a past cathedral placed in the Old Town. It is a stone tower in a neo-gothic style, the symbol of the city, having over 40m high from where you can have a beautiful view over the city of Baia Mare.

(Translated by Google) The tower is worth a visit and the view is beautiful but the administration is execrable, from the woman who takes care of the cleaning to the one who is put there to open during visiting hours. They talk phlegmatically, they are arrogant and it's a shame ... I hope I don't see them again if you visit Baia mare. (Original) Turnul merită vizitat si priveliștea e frumoasă însă administrarea este execrabilă, de la femeia care se ocupă de curățenie pană la cea care este pusă acolo să deschidă la orele de vizită. (Translated by Google) The whole city of Baia Mare develops around the Sfantul Stefan tower. Restored in 2015, it is a wonderful place to look out and foray into the history of the place. It is perfectly framed in the park and the junction of the 2 neighboring churches gives it a good visibility and architectural balance. (Original) In jurul turnului Sfantul Stefan se dezvolta intreg orasul Baia Mare. Restaurat prin 2015 este un loc minunat de belvedere si de incursiune in istoria locului. Este perfect incadrat in parc iar alaturarea celor 2 biserici invecinate ii ofera o buna vizibilitate si echilibru arhitectonic.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful place that must be visited in Baia Mare. Access to the tower is free and is made at each fixed after the clock in the tower (until 17.00, at the date of writing the comment). It should be mentioned that the first 2 sections of the staircase are quite narrow and can create discomfort for claustrophobic people. From the tower you can see the panorama of the city and it is worth the effort. (Original) Un loc frumos care trebuie neaparat vizitat in Baia Mare.

Do not schedule your climb before the scheduled time, when the bell rings. Its sound is deafening. And the vibrations (from the tower) are strong. (Original) Este singurul lucru ramas din fosta biserica "Sfântul Rege Ștefan". Se poate vizita. Urcarea nu e usoara dar la fiecare palier sunt locuri de odihna. Free entrance to the tower, it's important to go after the clock does it's job otherwise you're going to have a headache 😆 Beautifully restored it features very little in terms of history, basically just some details at the bottom, not much of a museum if that is what you look for. The main attraction is the view from above

  • 5/5 Dan K. 2 years ago on Google
Make sure you get there during visiting hours. View from the top as well as going up experience are worth it. Also read the story beforehand. It has nothing to do with "Stefan cel Mare" of Moldavia but with St Steven of Hungary.

Stephen's Tower is one of the most beautiful towers that I know im Romania. Well restored and offers a nice view over the town. Baia Mare, one of the cities that has my appreciation because it offers you all the benefits of a city but also the change to be in the middle of the nature in only a few minutes. Depending where you will stay, could also offer a beautiful view of the mountains around the town.
