waited one hour for appetite which is a sweet potato fries and another hour for main dishes which is a small boiled salmon with few vegitable. highly not recommand to try this Atlantic salmon: the most expensive one, the least taste. lack of service too.

The food was alright. The place was kind of dead but that could be because it's winter and I went there on a Sunday. The server was very nice and friendly though.

This was my first time ordering takeout from the Royal Oak. I ordered the fish n’ chips and a side of poutine. Problem #1 - my Uber driver sat outside and waited to pick up the order for almost 20 minutes. When the order arrived, it was packaged well. The fish was a good sized portion and it was tasty, albeit a little oily (there was a small puddle of oil in the takeout box). The poutine was some of the worst I’ve ever had. The fries were too big and undercooked for poutine, the portion was small and the gravy was thin, watery and flavourless. It had the consistency of a ‘jus’ you would pour over roast beef - definitely not a poutine gravy.

3 to 3.5 star, which makes it a legit no frills pub.

Old time Irish Pub with standard pub fare on offer. Food is tasty and plentiful. The service was awesome and extremely friendly! The only negative, if it is one, is the decor is in need of a refurbishment project. That said, many of ya'll love that old pub look so, what do I know... Overall, fun place to go for a pint and a burger! *Gluten-free options available

Table for 10. 7 adults drinking beer, 3 drinking pop. Food was ordered. We were there for close to 3 hours. Drinks were empty for close to 30 mins at one point. We left because of the lack of service. The place might of only had 10 other people in the entire restaurant.

I came to this restaurant highly recommended however I was very disappointed. I ordered a chicken sandwich with a Caesar salad and they gave me fries instead. My sandwich and fries were cold so I asked for takeout to leave and re heat at home. Made me pretty upset

I've always enjoyed The Royal Oak on Bank Their drink and food selection is standard pub fare in the best way.

It is a typical Pub. Good atmosphere in the nights. Good selection of beer. Not going there for the rustic ambience. Good food but I would stick to pub like food. Don't order the salmon, I think the chef was almost insulted to make it in a traditional pub. Overall good atmosphere, good place to catch the game and have a pint or a social hangout.

Really like the Oak. My kind of place to go to. The bartender was awesome and the music was perfect. The food... I ordered the $23 lasagna. If you like Chef Boyardee, you love'll this. Was hoping for better quality and a better serving but this is what I got. I'm starving and I was craving pasta tonight so I ate it all. I love Chef Boyardee so it was comfort food for me. I'm sure when I become hungry again in an hour, paying $23 for something that I know was worth $5 will really annoy me. Oh well, live and learn.

I am a regular patron at this pub, and I came here with a friend today (Wednesday September 20 in the afternoon) and I had a very disappointing experience. I am in my late 20s and my friend is in her 30s. The waitress came over and asked for our drinks orders, which we gave. Then she asked for our IDs. My friend left her wallet in the car, as I was going to pay for our drinks, therefore she didn’t have her ID on her. She said it’s not a worry, and that she would just have water and food. I then provided my ID. Without even looking at my ID, the waitress said unless we both provide ID neither of us will be served, and that it was company policy. I know for a fact this not true, as I’ve worked in the service industry, especially pubs, for the last decade. This is not a rule that is outlined in smart serve certification, and you can in fact serve all patrons who provide ID. We are both women of colour and have previously had discriminatory experiences at restaurants; regardless of whether this was the intent of the server, this felt very targeted. This has been one of my go to pubs for after work drinks, and I’m very disappointed.

They have a social combo that makes each of the dishes six dollars. When we asked if we could do this accross multiple bills we were told yes it would cost $6 each. I get to the paying part of the night and I was charged $7 for mine and when I confront the server she back tracks and says no this is the way the menu is written. The first one is $7 and each additional one is $6. After explaing how she said it would be $6 she charged me $7 any ways. I hate being mislead. Makes me wonder how much other people are getting cheated. I don't care what the menu says I care what I am promised. The additional dollar came out of her tip

Nothing special, the staff was friendly and fast and the French onion soup was fine. The only thing I can think of to complain about was for some reason I couldn't get the internet to work on my phone. So you can see if that's all I have to complain about, the place was fine. Will say it was one of my shorter visits to a pub.

Great Pub. Ottawa Institution. My friend Jeff taught me to chug pints here in the early 2000s. I could down a full imperial in less than 3 seconds in those days. It was also one of the pubs that would serve my high school friends and I in the late 90s. Haven't touched the stuff in 16 years or so. Man, we solved all the world's problems several times over sitting in that place. Great Memories!

I always enjoy visiting any of the Royal oak locations, and this one is quite central to Ottawa. They have a nice menu, friendly staff, and large tables that can accommodate bigger groups. My go to is usually the fish and chips, as well as any locally crafted beer.

This is a great place to eat, service is good and the prices are right. I detest high priced restaurants with only so so food who try to make it on ambience. The food must always come first and this place delivers. This restaurant was also family friendly which i enjoy.

The waitress, she was so rude, just because of few pieces of salted peanuts I was having them with drink, she asked me to stop eating them. The guy I guess his name Mark or Michael he is so kind , but this waitress she is really rude. Any way it was the second time and last time I go there.

(Translated by Google) Irish pub style restaurant. The menu is varied and well priced. The quality of the meals is correct. The service is quick at first, but later the service becomes bad. The staff are smiling, but there are not enough staff. The waitress never brought ketchup after being asked. We had to get up at the end of the meal and go to the waitress to pay, because she had forgotten us. Men's toilets have a bad smell. Next time I'm in Ottawa, I'm going to go to a different Irish pub than this one.

I recently visited the Royal Oak Pub on Bank at Maclaren in Ottawa, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. From the moment I walked in, it was evident that the service would be subpar. Our server's attitude was rude, and to make matters worse, his breath reeked of alcohol and cigarettes. The quality of the beverages was also a letdown. The Coca-Cola served was completely flat, which was quite disappointing. Not only that, but the prices for the drinks were exorbitant, considering the underwhelming taste and lack of carbonation. Moreover, I found the server's judgmental behavior to be highly off-putting. It's disheartening when you're trying to enjoy a meal, only to feel scrutinized and judged by the very person who should be providing a welcoming atmosphere. This definitely contributed to an overall unpleasant experience. In light of these issues, I cannot recommend the Royal Oak Pub on Bank. The combination of poor service, flat and overpriced beverages, and the server's judgmental demeanor make for a disappointing visit. I hope the management takes note of these concerns and takes steps to improve the quality of service and overall experience for future patrons. Ottawa has many wonderful dining options, and I encourage potential visitors to explore other establishments that prioritize customer satisfaction and provide a more enjoyable experience.

Last night, my girlfriend and I were passing by and this bar was absolutely empty with literally zero costumer so we decided to go inside to have a beer at peace before heading home. We said hi and sat at the bar and as we were checking out the beers on tap, that toxicated guy (with a big belly and grey beard) behind the bar suddenly said “yeah I’m not serving you” in a repulsive way with a condescending look on his face. I asked him why what happened as both my gf and I were so confused and even stopped to think if I’ve been there before so I asked the guy when was I there and he started mumbling then said “2-3 weeks ago and you said your money is no good here, I know you, I’m not serving you…” and some more stuff that made as little sense. I made sure to ask him a couple more times if he was sure since I know I haven’t been there. I have never been more confused in my life! We just said no way we would spend anything in here anyways as we were walking out and his finale was “you said that the last time” (Added even more confusion!) SMH! No wonder there was absolutely zero customer while an identical bar across the street was fully packed. But also makes me wonder if it was racially motivated which is the only thing comes to my mind. What a bad look for the establishment! SMH
