This restaurant is fantastic! We went here for dinner and were very impressed with the food and the atmosphere. The burger was amazing and the fries were some of the best I have ever had. The pasta was also excellent. I haven’t stopped thinking about the fries since I last had them. The staff were friendly and service was fast. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a place to go for dinner in the market. We will be back!

5 star service and 5 star good. Will definitely come back again and again. We ordered snails, seafood pasta and their signature burger. All amazing food. The sever is patient and friendly. Highly recommend to everyone.

I had 1 pound of Cajun wings here, & was surprised at how large the portion was. For $15 I considered that an above average serving, however I also ordered a salad expecting the miniscule amount of wings you get served at other places. I eat alot but could barely finish my meals. However my vegetarian friend had nachos I considered it slightly small, but he enjoyed it. * Because this place is amazing it's pact, I don't know if they take reservations but it's advisable to try to make reservations. The servers are amazing, but because it's busy they don't always check on you regularly at peek intervals, so know what you want at your initial interaction & order everything at once.

Cute little restaurant and bar. Customer service was great, restaurant atmosphere was awesome and not far from downtown. I had the Bourgeois Burger and my pal had the Chez Lucien Burger. Both were good, served with AMAZING fries and a large garden salad. What needs improvement is the Burger them selves. They were both a little dry and in need of more sause or something to offset the dryness. The burgers were good but not quite at a wow level.

Seems like a go-to spot for many locals in Ottawa. There’s a cool jukebox and it has in interesting vibe. The demographic seems to be older. I’m a little surprised at how high the rating is as the food was below average. The burger was lacking seasoning. The service was very slow, but the staff was very friendly.

This restaurant made me feel like I was back in Europe - cosy and delicious, I'd recommend this to anyone. From dates to solo brunch, work dinners to a quick pint... Great. The waitress recommended the signature burger, and it was wonderful.

As always, a tasty burger, fries and fresh salad from Chez Lucien. Been getting burgers from Chez for years now and they still don’t disappoint. Their daily cheesecake flavours (if they’re still baking them) are deeelicious!

Nice spot! Cozy and great ambiance if you want a shift from the busy street areas. Service was good and friendly. Food was delicious. Started off with a nice cheese platter, no intense flavors so I recommend for anyone. Had the spinach salad with grilled chicken. Portion was just perfect and chicken was juicy with fresh berries. Perfect keto salad. Few tips there is payed parking right in front. Very affordable 👌

Many reviewers mention the burger so the burger is what I got. Components were good (bacon, mayo, mushrooms, cream cheese, lettuce and tomato) but the patty was extremely over cooked. The bun tasted dry and old. Side salad came with a tasty dressing, and the fries were some of the best I’ve ever had. Stadium Island peach cider was delicious! Pleasant staff, and homey and charming interior. August 2022

Had heard so much about this place, was really excited to finally make it here to try. We had two burgers and both were excellent. The menu is quite small, but interesting. Also had a great list of beer options. We went mid afternoon and it was very quiet, but the space is super cozy. Highly recommend.

Cozy neighbourhood pub feel with friendly service. We came here for their famous burgers. Although the burger patty was a bit dry, everything else on the plate (fries, salad, bun) altogether made it a very satisfactory meal.

Had a great dinner at Chez Lucien. The scallop entree was amazing, Also got the wings but didn't enjoy it - the hot sauce was sooo salty, wasn't even hot and just left a sour taste in the mouth. The chicken was good though so might just try a different sauce next time I go. For the mains, we had the CL burger and Grilled NY steak. Both were really good and came with VERY large servings of fries that got us stuffed! We went in the evening around 6pm and it was really busy so I'd recommend you make a reservation in advance just in case.

Don’t sleep on the brunch here, absolutely amazing. One of the best brunches I’ve ever had, best potatoes I’ve ever had as well. Great meal for the price in a convenient spot if you’re staying at the Byward Market! Will come back every time I visit Ottawa.

The atmosphere is great and the service is perfect. The seafood spaghetti and the snail are in the ocean of cheese. The confit duck is flavorful and its crust is amazing. The crepe is less than my expectation because the flavor of crepe is overwhelmed by the cream.overall it is a high quality meal.

Small cozy restaurant located on the quieter side of the market. Love the atmosphere and love the food. Would recommend their escargot. Pasta tasted a bit soggy but still good. Would want to try their signature burgers next time I go.

Lineup upon arrival on Saturday night which was expected, but the wait was not that long. Full house inside so felt a bit too warm and stuffy while waiting to be seated. Lucky to have offered a table on the lower level since the second level seemed packed and not much distancing between tables. Jukebox machine available but only have classic rock and lots of folk music unbeknownst to us. Ironic that there was no French music despite the name of the restaurant being Chez Lucien! Portion size is generous considering their price.

Walked around the market looking for a cozy vibe with good food that wouldn’t cost too much. Walked by Chez Lucien and it was exactly what we were looking for. We walked in to see that the place seemed lively with guests but not too busy considering it was probably around 10pm. The bartender (Jeff) greeted us and told us to take a seat wherever we’d like. We instantly noticed he was well liked amongst the crowd at the bar and he was very friendly. We got the hot wings and the basket of fries and some beers. Everything tasted delicious, the wings were the best I have had in a while. They have a wonderful jukebox with 200 albums to select from and due to the dwindling crowd there wasn’t a huge demand for it and we played whatever we were feeling throughout our meal, the bartender complimented a lot of our choices and made us feel very welcome. 10/10 would return to this hidden gem, it’s almost too good to share. Go to Chez Lucien and ask for Jeff, you won’t be disappointed.

I love this place so much! My go to is steak pasta or seafood pasta. Reasonable price and decent portion, of course so tasty. Great restaurant atmosphere for dinner out. If you go right dinner time, you normally need to wait long.

We always wanted to try this place and happened to be around the area today, so we decided to stop for brunch/ lunch. The place is nice and cozy, the waitress was very friendly and helpful. We both ordered burgers and the portions were HUGE! They were amazing and deliciously juicy, fries were fresh and crispy!! We’ll definitely come back to try more :)

A friend took me here to try the burgers. Didn't disappoint! Massive portion and includes both fries and salad. Decent beer selection too. It's an energetic atmosphere so it's loud inside.

The protein salad is an awesome vegan option here. The tofu burger is also great! So happy to see vegan options at a cute pub.

Came for early Saturday night dinner. Tried to come for Friday night but it was packed. Good prices. Delicious pesto pasta. Creamy and light on the pesto, mix of cream sauce. Added chicken to it. The steak and veg with a sub for fries - perfect. Ordered medium came more medium well. That's fine. The server was very kind, and had wine recommendations. Everyone there was having a great time. Would come back any night, early so I get a spot.

This place was recommended to me so I decided to give it a try. Seafood fettuccine was great mussels taste not bad, salmons are pretty good. Steak fettuccine was bad however steak was chewy and pasta sauce is bit off sour. Dining room is very very small you are almost shoulder to shoulder with someone else. Dining table is very small as well. Waitress is very slow there is only two waitresses probably under staff? Overall I wouldn’t come back again it’s not ideal for dining.

This pub is absolutely fantastic! We came into town pretty late in the evening with our two sons and were looking for a place to eat before heading back to the hotel. We chose this place and let me tell you that the food and and service were excellent! It's a small cozy pub with great music. The drinks were great, and the food even better! I highly recommend the Diego burger, delicious and full of flavor! To top it all off, the food is so reasonably priced! My wife, two sons and myself all came together to $105, thats unheard of for 4 full meals with drinks! I wish I could remember the name of the person who was serving us at our table because she was fantastic!

I was drawn to Chez Lucien from a Reddit post praising the restaurant's burgers. Sure enough, I ordered the Lucien Burger and it was really tasty with seasoned fries that looked greasey but were actually delicious. The rest of our group ordered a pasta with side of salmon and two steaks. Everyone devoured their meal, so their selections must have been equally good. Restaurant is a small pub like environment. My only complaint was that service was very, very slow. Although the waitress was pleasant, she never apologized for the excessive delays. Other tables who arrived after us, received food before us. This may have been due to our specific food orders; however, I also requested the bill and observed the waitress make several trips to other tables dropping off side plates, cutlery, and condiments before addressing our request. The entire meal, start to finish, took approximately three hours. Not ideal for a group that simply wanted a quick and tasty lunch.

This place is a gem! I went there to grab some food around 10PM and I was shocked at how delicious and high quality it was. The staff is super polite, place is clean, food is affordable and best of all in a great quiet location (downtown but now byward). We went for a walk after because the food is high in nutrients and you actually get full. I got the fettuccine pasta with salmon, and my partner got the grilled salmon burger. If your in the area, I highly recommend.

I have been looking forward to eating here for a while. It is a cute spot and the food is really really yummy. The menu is small but the quality of the food more than makes up for it. A large beer menu as well. Service was a little slow and the server was a little forgetful as well but nothing else negative to say. We'll be back!

I actually enjoyed my take out meal very much. The portion size is reasonable. The dry tomato in it is just perfect add-on to the flavour.

This was by far the best meal we have had in Ottawa. Burgers, pasta, grilled chicken and nachos were amazing! So friendly and great service! We 100% recommend this place.

I enjoyed lunch with a friend at Chez Lucien and we had a deliicious meal. I ordered the Bourgeois Burger and my girlfriend had her favourite Grilled Salmon Sandwich. We had a pot of peppermint tea each, served with dainty fine bone china teacups! Love the warm and cozy atmosphere in this eatery.

Looks like a regular pub, washrooms are a bit suspicious, but the burgers were AMAZING! I had probably the best tofu burger in my life. Fries and the salad dressing were very nice too. My boyfriend loved his beef burger as well.

I had the Chez Lucien Burger. It was amazing ! The burger was very good, i loved the toppings but i found the meat patty a little dry. The fries and salad were excellent. Amazing salad dressing, it tasted like a mix of ranch and garlic sauce… it was so good that they should bottle it and sell it. Our waitress was super nice. I will certainly go back. Unfortunately this place is not wheelchair accessible. No free parking but there is a parking tower right in front of the restaurant. A very nice charming pub. A must try !

Great restaurant. Very busy so make sure you reserve a table. Service was excellent. We shared appetizers instead of having a meal. The mussels and scallops were cooked perfectly.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Duck Confit is a must try and the Steak Fettuccine is pretty decent as well. Will come back to try the Seafood Fettuccine with the garlic and cheese sauce.

We loved Chez Lucien! We searched for a restaurant near our hotel and this one came up. The reviews were good so we tried it. We weren’t disappointed- the menu was diverse and we all ate something different. The mussels were outstanding, the seafood pasta delicious and the liver and onions so tender. The fries are a must have! The waitress was excellent. We were very impressed and would definitely return. A great start to our weekend trip.
