Finally open! A place that's worthy of the space. This corner, I tell you. So many possibilities, none have succeeded long enough to become an institution... The Great Canadian Poutinerie might just change all that. So far, we've eaten variations of the Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich here, and it's perfect. It hits that "do I have to go all the way to Montreal to satisfy this craving?" craving and adds some of the best poutine I've ever had. Prices are about $10 for a sandwich, around $17 for sandwich with drink, pickle, coleslaw, and Poutine. Generous portions, good value for the money. I Highly recommend this place - I live in the area and I'm easily disappointed, this place does not. Let's hope they can keep it up.

This spot has a really cool and rustic design and welcoming staff. They have many cool and unique poutine options that look and taste great. In addition, they have gluten free options- make sure you ask the staff about them!

How was it? It was amazing! All around amazing! Greeted with a smile and great energy. The menu is right there of all the options of poutine with an array of sizes for all hunger types. Today I chose the great chicken bacon ranch poutine and like I already mentioned, it was amazing! Lots of chicken chunks, bacon galore and tasty cheese curd nuggets with a brown gravy over a base of fries cooked to perfection! There was a party in my mouth. Will I return? Absolutely! How else am I going to be able to try them all?😁 And I did return. Had the same chicken bacon ranch poutine. Delish again! 😁😁

Amazing poutine! More convenient location than the one in Deschamps Ave. Doesn’t go wrong with any flavour we like but my favourite is the Wolf. Slightly expensive but good amount of toppings. Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich is also available. Friendly service. It might seem like a little bit on higher price but definitely worth it!

One of the best poutine places I've ever been to. With some of the coolest staff you'll meet and the variety is mind blowing. If you do dine in, the atmosphere is very welcoming. If you ever get the chance, do try and come here as it'll be worth the time(:

The food was new and interesting. The service however was extremely slow. The prices were adequate for the location and food that was served. Overall it was an okay experience. Good atmosphere. I wish I could have given this place a 3.5 *. That's probably more accurate...

Great Poutine is made with Great Fries… Great Fries are made with Love Passion and Fun. Gotta love the staff there! Next time you visit, try these golden fries with some B-MAC Sauce on the side, and in case you are wondering what the box is for? WELL… that’s where the magic happens💙💙💙

Please do not go here. It is disgusting, salty, tasteless, a grotesque parody of Canadian food. I ordered take out with my kids and we all regretted it. Smoked meat horrible and tasted like rubber. Poutine foul and bacon and chicken thrown away as inedible. Sauce essentially salt. It is not good that businesses offer 'food' like this during these times, we make an effort to go and support businesses please make an effort to offer edible food.

Wow! We were visiting Canada for the day and of course had to find poutine. I am so glad we came across this place. They had many options (more traditional to very unique) and we split a great size and it was perfect for 2 people. It was LOADED with goodies. We did the O.M.G. (onion, mushrooms and green peppers) with beef, gravy and cheese curds. It was the best poutine I have ever had..the gravy was rich. The curds were squeaky and the fries somehow were not mush. I will absolutely go back here if I am ever in Ottawa.

They skimped out on the cheese curds and the bit of cheese curds they used, a good majority didn't even melt. So I was essentially served fries with gravy and rubbery cheese curds that never melted. I don't care how busy you are and how understaffed you may be, rushing my order and being sloppy about it shows a lack of professionalism and commitment to keeping your end of a business transaction! Sloppy bunch!

Our first time at The Great Canadian Poutinerie today. Our oldest is a huge fan of poutines and he even has a list of the favorite ones. TGCP managed to get to the top of the list. We ordered the classic, monster size. Wow, the portion is indeed a monster, super generous. The gravy is fresh, savory, delicious, the fries also delicious, perfect. Staff is super friendly and nice. Place is very welcoming, organized, clean. We are all very impressed, we highly recommend this place. We'll definitely go back. This place is a gem!

I brought myself, my husband and two friends straight from the heart of Quebec. We cannot get over how good the poutine is, how friendly the staff is, and how willing they are to make dietary accommodations. I love this place, and even though the poutine is higher priced, it's well worth every penny!

Came from America and the lady in the Toronto airport told me this place is a must try in Ottawa. We literally got off the plane and drove straight to this place to eat before checking into our hotel. We each ordered something different so we could try them all. The philly, the veggie, and the beef with peppers was great... Especially with that garlic sauce. The buffalo chicken was good but wayyyyy to spicy. It overpowered everything. Definitely a must try for everyone.

Silly maybe but not disappointed. Hubby and I had a free day. Drove from Arthur Ontario to Ottawa for poutine. This is were we decided. 5 and a half hr drive and so worth every bite. Perfectly crispy fries and the gravy is amazing. Smoked meat to perfection. Highly recommend.

All I can say is WOW! The Montréal smoked meat sandwich combo is to die for, and the poutine here is fantastic! Portions are great and no skimping on curds and gravy! The staff are super friendly and their customer service is top tier. I am definitely coming back here!

  • 5/5 D L. 3 years ago on Google
Went there and the owner was there, the friendliest guy out there. Basically, everything here is a poutine except the smoke meat sandwich. If you think to yourself you know what to expect thought, you are wrong! Over the years he's crafted some premium variations on the classic poutine. Fresh cut french fries, cheese curds and a sauce for every dish but what kind of sauce?!, what other golden nuggets were added?! I'm sure you can imagine a lot of options but it's not just sausage on a poutine or bits of chicken, it's more of a gourmet dish variation. I had the butter chicken version today and wow, I could have drunk the sauce, not spicy really, just the right punch of flavour and happiness! I counted about 18 different kinds of poutine and they all made sense to me. One would think, probably the Italian poutine Found in Quebec etc... Nope, didn't see that one but that feels a bit lazy compared to this menu. I'm talking Philly cheese steak, pulled pork, smoke meat, grilled cheese poutine, butter chicken, the garlic sauce one is mmm mmm good. I really liked my experience at the Bank Street location today and will have a hard time trying a different flavour next time, probably butter chicken again! Yeah! For sure! I now feel silly not having taken a picture but afterall, this was a sneaky cheat meal. :-9

The smoke meat sandwich is fantastic. Fresh cut brisket (if you go early enough you can choose if you want lean or fatty meat) get it with sweet mustard. The poutine is dope too. The staff are always friendly and accommodating .

Great store with cleanliness at its best. But sorry i had bad experience, the person ♀️ who took my order was rude (i was shocked 😔) and after looking at menu i was excited and ordered butter chicken but it wasn't butter chicken poutine it's like i ate just boiled chicken with fries. It's totally my experience, by looking at the rating it could be only me, so one dirty drop doesn't make whole beautiful lake any dirty i guess. ✌

When we first picked up our order, it was noticeably HEAVY. Great Canadian does not skimp at all! I appreciated that everything was made fresh—the grilled cheese and bacon were fresh on the stove when ordered, a new batch of fries was cooked, and gravy ladled on just before boxing it all up. I think we have a new winner for the best poutine in town!

  • 5/5 Marie M. 3 years ago on Google

  • 5/5 Genevieve S. 3 years ago on Google
Everything was amazing and really well done, the decor was nice and service was polite. I would have given 4.5 but gave a 5, they put way to much gravy on the poutine, I would go back but request less gravy and they should just give customers a heads up that it's a lot more gravy than a traditional poutine. I highly recommend this place. 😀

Excellent experience at Oz Kafe tonight. They are very well set up for covid on the patio and the waiters all wore their masks properly and I never saw any of them even play with it. Excellent food, we ordered the sirloin, the burgers, the stuffed zucchini, a cheese board and a chocolate tart, everything was very appetizing! We stayed 2 hrs and did not feel rushed at all, excellent service!

I’ve heard about Oz Kafe for years but I only went there for the first time yesterday. I had an aperol summer cocktail with a charcuterie board and I was so impressed with the quality of drinks, food, and the wonderful service. Oz understands the art of building good customer rapport, supporting the local economy, making delicious food, and curated drinks. Their menu is well priced and they’re in a great location tucked away in the bymarket courtyard. 100% recommend going.

Looks like a great place, however, prices aren't listed anywhere! I just want to know what I would be paying so I can plan my night accordingly. Restaurants appear very pretentious and uppity when they refuse to list prices.

New Year‘s Eve dinner was a set menu that was good, but I would have preferred to be able to order from the menu since it was way too much food for me and at $100 it seemed a waste since I couldn’t eat it all. The stone wall decor is wonderful and the service was prompt and friendly. Best item: the white bean fritters were AMAZING! Worst item: the black garlic spaghetti was too salty and did not have the texture and taste of fresh pasta. I would recommend this place for apps and drinks, but probably not for full dinners.

  • 3/5 Tayler E. 4 years ago on Google
Decided to try Oz for our anniversary dinner. We had never been and were excited to check it out. While the food was absolutely delicious, the service was seriously lacking. In my opinion, if you are paying $65 for a steak, you are also paying for a certain level of service... which we definitely did not receive. Very infrequent visits to the table, minimal wine tops ups (I believe only once), no bread brought to the table, and when we had finished eating we sat for 10-15 minutes with dirty plates in front of us. The table beside us had a different server who was quite attentive and ended up billing us out at the end of the night because again, we sat for about 10-15 minutes with our credit card on the table. Perhaps just bad luck but overall it left a sour taste in our mouths. Our server did bring a chocolate torte “on the house” for our anniversary which was very nice, and as I said we both enjoyed our beef dishes very much. However we were disappointed with the substandard service for a $250 meal. I would trying going back again perhaps in the summer and hope for better service, but not rushing back anytime soon.

WOW! I had not even heard of this gem of a restaurant in the Market, but it was incredible. Great upscale night out with local beers, cheeses, meats (even some made in house!). Our server was very knowledgeable and also a sommelier, so very helpful! I really appreciated that they just put the tip on everyone's bill for our large group, so it saved some time in leaving and made sure the staff was appropriately tipped. Rotating seasonal menu that takes advantage of local ingredients. I had the lamb with squash puree and lots of other amazing side-dishes. The server described it like "the best Christmas dinner ever!" and I completely agree. Cannot recommend this place highly enough!

In my opinion hands down the best poutines in the city. Asked one of the guys working to surprise me when I ordered and I wasn't disappointed. I believe it was the Montreal Smoked meat with the sweet pickles that I was given. Regardless it ....

If you love your cheese curds, then this is the place to be. They really like packing the toppings on your poutine giving you some real value for your buck. The employees are very friendly and cheerful, making this a very positive experience. It only loses that last star because almost every option has beef or pork, and only the V.I.P (which is delicious btw) has no meat. If your diet is not as restricted as mine then you will have a great time here.

  • 5/5 Sarah S. 2 years ago on Google
Very pleasant staff were very patient and helpful while we tried to make a decision. So many delicious choices! This was the best poutine of our lives. The gravy was nice and hot the cheese curds were perfect and squeaky. We tried traditional and philly steak. Yum! The restaurant was clean. We sat inside to eat. It is nicely decorated, we admired the decorative lighting. Our food was delivered to our table piping hot. We paid by debit card. We will return anytime we are in the area again. Filled our bellies to the brim but we couldnt leave a fry behind, so tasty. Well worth it!

Friendly greeting as soon as you walk through the door, and killer poutine! The Wolf poutine was phenomenal. Perfect temperature, and delicious balance of flavours. Each ingredient shined in its own unique way! One of the best poutine I've ever had!

Great topping-curd-fry ratio! I was impressed with the quality and taste. Not the cheapest place out there, but worth it for the fancier menu items as a treat. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere is great, but on a busier day it's smelly from the fryer grease so arrive before laundry day! I was expecting this however so no big deal.

Decor is quite nice and modern. Friendly staff with a large selection of poutine options. Food is made to order, comes out smoking hot. Good portion sizes, food was pretty amazing - that first bite! Definitely would have again.

Very good poutine. We tried both the classic and the pulled pork poutine. He filled it up until it was overflowing and still managed to close it. If you take it to-go, you get a thick paper bag that ensures the food won’t get cold. The environment inside is very friendly and it smells very good. Only small thing is their drink selection is limited to cans (no bottles 😭)

Looking for a laid-back dining experience with great food? Look no further! This casual restaurant has a friendly and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with warm, friendly service and an inviting atmosphere. Staff is super nice and the food is absolutely delicious. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food and service. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxed dining experience with great food. It's the perfect spot for a casual meal any day of the week.

I came here after Canada Day, every other shop was closed for the weekend. The staff were amazing; super kind hearted and a pleasure to talk to. A bachelor party was inside and the atmosphere was jovial and fun. The food is amazing and their sauces are to die for. Get the garlic mayo and spicy mustard. Also the idea of going half fries half onion rings is genius.

The gentleman that were behind the counter yesterday treated my friends and I like family. They helped in the creation of half pulled pork and half bacon cheeseburger; and provided an excellent array of dipping sauces. Amazing atmosphere and food!

I honestly have no idea how this place has 4.7 stars. There's no seasoning. Like at all. Apparently this place doesn't have salt ....along with not having a phone at this location. I opened it and it was not appealing to the eye. At all. It honestly looked a bit like canned dog food. Bf and I ordered two "monster" size. We spent 60$ for 2 poutines. And everything was soggy. I ordered the quebecer. Figured mmmm pogo and poutine. Soggy, almosted melted looking pogo batter and half cooked fries. Gonna basically have to re-cook it (and season. So. Bland. ) before it'll actually be edible. What a let down.

Just had another fantastic meal at the Bank Street location. Hit everything you’d want in the ultimate comfort food. Hot, crispy, salty, cheesy and more. Staff are frigging awesome. This place is the best. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

The staff is fun and pleasant. The atmosphere is calm during the day but comes alive more at night. During the day it’s definitely family/kids friendly. I was temporarily positioned down the street from this location for work, and because of the staff I made the effort to visit regularly. The food is good, and the staff, Josh, Greg and others made great suggestions. It was always delicious. The gluten free gravy was consistency well made. The prices for downtown food was good and well made for the price at that. Definitely a recommendation.

Hands down 5 stars! Poutines were all delicious, cheese curds were amazing, and the perfect amount of gravy. Hopefully we get to enjoy it again before heading back home.
