Looks clean and nice at first glance but if you look closer it's very dirty. The shower drain was clogged, mold and hair everywhere and bed bugs in the sheets. Sure it has an AC, free lockers (although there is no key to the rooms and anyone can get through the main entrance), a kitchen and a TV but what good is that if you bring bed bugs home. Also, there is no reception and you can only pay with credit card.

Brought a group to stay here, occupying three different rooms. There were bedbugs seen in one of the rooms. Management was unresponsive about this situation. And the place is not kept clean in general. No real outdoor space to relax as outdoor furniture is either broken or full of bird droppings.

Cockroaches throughout in bedrooms and bathrooms, unresponsive to emails and calls, the door to the hostel is unlocked behind a locked gate but it has been left open apparently and there was a man sleeping on the couch when I woke up this morning. I left after one night and paid for a different hostel- and they are unresponsive about a refund. Could not recommend less especially for solo female travellers.

Good location and decent atmosphere. Perhaps there were staff before COVID, but checking in online was a disaster (everyone checking in during my stay had major problems), had to make several phonecalls and change location, was then given a wrong room. All dorms are very cramped, sounds travel far and our side of the hostel (in a different street to the original address) was super noisy. Almost impossible to sleep. The keypads on the doors are infuriating. Was given the wrong code, they also make a lot of noise and require inputting the code every time one goes in or out, which constantly wakes everyone up; why we don't have keys and fobs to get in? Doors and gates were simply left open so nothing was secure and nowhere to leave bags when going out for the day. All lockers were broken or missing keys, only one shower was working for dozens of guests, all but one bathroom either didn't lock or the door didn't even close. There wasn't even toilet paper 😅 Never saw any staff. Urgently needs maintenance. Met cool people though.

My recommendation: don‘t stay there! Rooms are super small and stuffy. Security deficits, gate always open and once you have the door code you can enter anytime, meaning also after your check-out. Nobody is at the reception, self-checkin, no control who is entering. Lots of weirdos hanging around, weird vibe. Little space for interacting with others in the hostel. Super complicated door code to the rooms, you sometimes gotta try multiple times, happened to all of us in the room. Cleanliness in rooms, small kitchen and bathrooms need to be improved. I could go on and on… Unfriendly interaction with the owner who, without saying hello and introducing himself, confronted me with someone (a guest apparently knowing him) complaining about me opening the windows at night…tf dude?! Believe all the negative reviews and read his petty, unprofessional answers to get a picture of how he runs his hostel. Everybody is to blame but him, am I right? ;) STAY AWAY and thank me later, cheers guy.

I had to take away one star because I found a bedbug in my dorm which I prompted killed and informed to Adrian as well as my booking agent. I still give 4* because of the actions they took once notified to clear the issue from the room through closing and a destruction process to get rid of them - and also they did try and put the situation right for me as well by refunding my booking. Check in process was straight forward, beds would have been perfectly comfortable otherwise and all communication with me personally was positive and supportive - this was really appreciated as I was a little shaken by the discovery. My bunk in the shared dorm was pleasantly surprising. The cozy bedding, ample storage space, and personal charging outlets ensured a restful night's sleep and convenient organization of belongings. Very rarely do I give bad reviews. I have found bed bugs in my room, now reading through the reviews looks like this is an ongoing issue. The reception seemed quite indifferent to it. Also be wary of leaving your bicycle in the yard, even though it's secured with a code and only hostel guests can come in, all the bicycle tires were punctured. Not only my bicycle but everyone else also.

The only good thing is the price. We stayed there for one night and I wouldn’t have stayed any longer. The hostel is dirty (cockroaches in the kitchen) and since there is no reception and no staff around people behave like they want. We couldn’t sleep at night because others were partying till early morning. The rooms have lockers and the doors open only by code, but the whole hostel didn’t feel like a safe space to leave anything. I’d recommend to look for another option.

A shotty hostel. The building and furniture seems pretty new, but the lack of maintainance makes the hostels condition pretty bad. The bathrooms are really dirty and the taps are loose and there's never any toilet paper. The kitchen is lacking much equipment and is really dirty. Looks like nobody is working here actually. For all of my stay I didnt see one person at the reseption. On beforehand I tried to call the hostel, send text messages and email, but got no respond. The beds are OK. But there is a numpad lock to the room which makes a lot of noice and is really frustrating. Also one of the refridgerators wasnt working. Wouldnt recommend staying there. There is also no big common space to meet people.

Hello my coming friends when you want to visit Bucharest you should not come to this very bad hostel because I stayed in it for 5 days and it was the worst in my life

2.5 stars. Our stay at the hostel was a mixed experience. Upon arrival not all beds in our room were vacant yet (we needed all), but as soon as we called the owner (via phone, as there is no reception), they quickly changed us to a different room that was slightly bigger. Barring some phone issues, the contact went smoothly. Unfortunately, this issue would've been identified and resolved much quicker if there had been a staffed front desk. The room was only okay, the beds were far from the most comfortable and sturdy but they were okay. The aircon was great to have in the humid heat and worked perfectly. A big let down was the lack of common spaces to meet other people. There were a few scattered about, all of them quite small and this still felt quite fragmented. Besides, there is no way to go from one building to the other (the hostel is split into two buildings that are back to back), so you wouldn't be able to meet half the hostel guests anyway. Even though the hostel has a modern interior with nice and is generally nicely decorated, there was a clear lack of maintenance throughout the building. Loose faucets, broken showerheads, and some buildup of mold in the showers. The kitchen was terribly under-equipped and not suitable for cooking much more than plain pasta. We had an okay stay here, but that was only because we didn't rely much on the hostel facilities. It was an okay place to sleep in but really not much more than that.

It is a bad and uncomfortable place and the manager is immoral and disrespectful and does not care about the customers and their comfort. The bathrooms do not have soap, shampoo, no tissues and the heating is weak. I felt very cold. I stayed there for some days and I went to another two Hostel in the next week so I can compare. Some rooms are for a lot of people and others are only for 4 with its own bathroom. It could be cleaner (for example the trash were full for a lot of days and the fridge was a mess) and I felt that there isn't a lot of control about the people (a man was sleeping for a lot of days in a sofa of a communal room) . There are a lot of communal rooms and it isn't like that in other places so that's a good thing.

Abstract: Decent budget hotel in great location. Pros: There was no staff when I arrived, however I had received an access code earlier so finding my bed was easy. The dorm was clean and spacious. I slept very well, but the room wasn't quiet in the morning due to heavy street noise. The kitchen area was clean and equipped with necessary appliances. The location was very good, i.e. 10 minutes' walk from the terminus of the bus line no. 783 from OTP airport to city centre. Cons: Washrooms could be bigger. Trashcans in the kitchen were overflowing and garbage should be disposed of more frequently. There should be some personnel at least during the day.

I got several bites from bed bugs. I woke up the next morning and wasn´t really sure if I got bitten so I checked the room once I came back to the hostel. Unfortunately I found some as you can see in the picture. I talked with the staff and they promised me to refund me the money for the whole stay but they just sent me the money for the night on which we left.

You get allocated a bed but the beds are already taken. My bed had someone in it. The email I recieved did explain that on occasion when this happened I can select a different bed. I then took a top bunk and noticed that all the beds were broken and there was nothing to hold on to as the bars at the top were all hanging off, and holding on to them to pull yourself up would have probably broken the whole bar. Not to mention they were so squeaky you couldn't move without the bed sqeaking and shaking. (Beds could be better) One woman slept in 2 beds so when a new guest arrived late at night she had no where to sleep - of course this was no fault of the hostel. Bathroom was so unclean. The cleaners did clean up but in the ladies dorm was a big one there was dry blood all down the toilet, and a reusable sanitary towel hanging on the shower which was then left on the shower floor, the bin was overflowing and not emptied, and no one bothered to get toilet roll when it ran out. If I hadn't gone every day to look for some, people would have literally gone without. We only get about 2/3 very thin rolls for a dorm of around 10 people - Again mostly no fault of the hostel ( I was unsure where to get extra rolls so I had to take them out of the other toilets by reception). I had a locker but they were all used and so I gave mine to one person who didn't have a locker and put my bag under the bed - It would be nice to mention to the cleaners to give it a little brush under the beds too :) People in the next dorm to us were so loud screaming laughing and slamming doors all night - this was mainly on my last night when I had to be up at 3am. Ending with positives the location was convenient, reception was a nice area, and the price was great and very affordable. Lockers were also provided.

Very effordable hostel with descent rooms. I was in a small four-bed room which had still enough space for the luggage. One improvement for the rooms could be a curtain at the beds to increase the privacy. I have seen this at other hostels and it really helps a lot for feel more comfortable. Another thing to mention is that there are only two toilets and two showers, which I find not enough for so many beds. Another issue is that each shower is with one toilet in a tiny room together. This automatically leads to queues and perhaps frustations when the hostel is very crowded. If you are a relaxed person with all this and you have a very limited budget, go for it! EDIT in reply to the hosts answer: Sry that I did not account for the 3rd bathroom, but I could not see it when it is integrated in one of the rooms. With this I weaken my statement about the number of bathrooms. However, in my opinion, queues are still very much likely in the morning due to the fact that toilet and shower are not separated. When a toilet is occupied the shower can't be used and the other way around. I understand that the whole flat is tiny and there was no other option to build it. Sleepless and uncomfortable night! Communication seemed automatized and never concise answer to my questions, the check in form that was supposed to be there wasn’t. Entered in the room the mess, the bathroom was in a worse status. I tried to sleep and one of the guest was on his phone on loud, then he was restless, obviously drunk kept going to the bathroom and leaving all the lights on, making impossible to sleep. I was forced by the experience to find another accommodation for the following days and even so am extra night was covered.

The location was very nice, but it wasn't clean enough. Much dust in the rooms. And the place was very empty the time I visited, which can be both an advantage and not so.

I had pretty high expectations booking this hostel based on reviews I had read. I was very disappointed when I arrived. The hostel was very different from the pictures that I had seen— it was very dilapidated, disorderly, stinky, and gross. I did end up booking somewhere else because of it. Someone had taken the bed I was assigned to and there is no one there to talk to you at reception. Adrian tries to run the Hostel without even being there and no one at reception. This doesn’t work. I recommend to go check out the hostel before booking to make sure it is of your liking. Otherwise, you may be sorely disappointed.

Check-in was self service. The owner was friendly. There’s a list on the wall where you can see all the timings for bus 786 leaving for airport 3.5ron (need to pay by master card, you just need to hold your card near the machine until it marks ✅)

I visited this place in March.I found a COCKROACH on the bathroom floor. The rooms and toilets were not clean. The beds were unsteady and broken. The water in my room was never warm. No shelf or table near the bed to leave things. No keys available for the lockers. Thin walls and no blinds on the window. During nighttime it was too bright because of the lights outside. P.S.: I understand it's very cheap and I didn't expect much, but I at least expected a decent place with basic hygiene. It's not worth a penny. You can find other cheap options in Bucharest.

1st Hostel is easily the cleanest hostel in Bucharest. Just like the pictures on their website, they keep it very clean and run a smooth operation. It is not a traditional hostel in the sense that it gets very quiet and they don't organize parties or any events to create socialization, but this was perfect for me and for my stay

First of all, it needs to be said that the extremely cheap price kind of can excuse all of the problems the hostel has. But, there are many of them. The place looks nice at the first glance, but then you find out spending a few nights in a row is not gonna the most pleasant experience. Out of the four bathrooms I tried, only one shower was working - some were missing doors, some were dirty and overflowing. The place wasn't clean at all, and, at least in the female dorm, the bunk beds were highly unstable and not much comfortable. I get that's what you get for the amazing price, but it still wouldn't hurt to invest in beds you wouldn't constantly worry would fall down. Other than that, the location is very good, just a few minutes to the city centre.

If any property needs a reception area with a professional to assist guests, this hostel needs someone.

I booked a stay at this hostel after another one had to cancel my reservation. The cleanliness was awesome when i arrived, but during the next days the bathrooms floor got a bit messy due to some people not cleaning after using them :( Beds aren't very comfy, but you get what you pay for. Check in very easy, location quite close to the centrum.

Everything just seems starkly unhuman. There's no 24 hour reception, there's no reception. You're supposed to do it all yourself and just know where everything is. If you like just doing by yourself, ok. Its clean until the cleaners leave then is just compounds throughout the day, making it really gross at times. No A/C, fans or windows so mosquitoes can be a problem. Its not a bad place, just has really glaring problems that ruin it which could be easily fixed just by having a human there.

Great place, I would totally recommend it. The staff is friendly and although absent for most of the day you can call them 24/7 from the reception and ask anything. The rooms are spacious and clean the bathrooms also. There are a few computers you can use at all times and there's also a room with a smart TV with Netflix. Breakfast is included but could be better. Price is great for what you get.

After three nights I had to leave as there was a huge bed bug problem. The problem was first reported in the dorm after my first night but no one communicated it to me. At 10pm on my third night I returned to find all the beds in my dorm were stripped. When I inquired what was happening, I was told I was being moved for renovations. After I pushed for an answer I was finally told it was bed bugs. I feel I should have been told straight away as I need to wash my clothes etc. I was put in a new dorm for the third night and was really badly bitten all over during the night. I cancelled my stay and received a refund. I'm just so annoyed that the staff tried to lie about it at first because I could have avoided a lot of discomfort if I was informed after the first night. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone.

The room and bathroom situation looked nominal, however I'll give it 1 star for 2 (1st one not being as severe) reasons: 1. This is the first hostel I've been to where there is no staff at least on site. I understand check-in is at a certain time, however I did email you prior to my visit (as it says in the email to do if you expect to arrive early) and received no response to early check-in. 2. After ONE night staying here, I got lovely ringworm on my face. For those who don't know, this is a fungal infection and does not require cuts, bruises or punctures of the skin. It'll just let loose on clean bodies without your knowing until it's too late. I came to First Hostel fully health and ready for a stress free "home away from home" and contracted ringworm. I've never had this before in my life, and to have received this fungal infection after 1 night of my 3 night stay was not only embarrassing but a huge a disappointment. Step up the hygiene and step up your main desk. There's no reason why my first impression should be this bad, for real. Your facilities looked nice, so why the bad service and WHY the bad hygienics.

Lovely place fairly close to the express 783/784 buses which take you directly to the airport. Was made to feel welcome by the receptionist and all the hostel attendees. Good strong WiFi throughout at building and fairly comfy beds. Netflix on the TV too and complimentary breakfast. All in all well worth the money.

Check out the garden in the back. No one told me it was there, but it was a nice space to spend the evenings in. Receptionists are there in the afternoons, and were helpful.

Super Clean!!! Small hostel with a friendly environment. Lovely people and I had an awesome time with everyone when I was here. The breakfast is also something I liked and saves you the effort to go looking for something in the morning. A ten minute walk to the square.You can also find a supermarket nearby and a few small places to eat.
