Excellent fish tavern. Variety, quality of food, taste was great. Ambience great too. We ordered mini fish meze for 2 and couldn’t finish it, portions were huge. Highly recommend this place.

Excellent fish taverna with amazing service. The owner passed by our table and accommodated some of our minor requests. The sea bass was tremendous, same with the calamari and octopus. One of the best fish tavernas i have been to so highly recommended you will not be disappointed!

Tremendous food - the potatoes and grilled vegetables were otherworldly. Bones are slightly tedious especially if you order a smaller fish - but that's to be expected. This just means you can be sat eating for well over an hour as we were if you're wary, so the dish can cool down a lot. Service is very professional however and the price was very good for what we got. The atmosphere was pretty nice as well. The ability to choose how your fish is cooked and how much (in grams) gives a good sense of control over your order.

Fish Mezze - we had better ones on Cyprus. But we also had worse ones than in the Karas Tavern. The first vodka my wife ordered was cheap stuff. She insisted and the Bulgarian waiter understood, finally. If this is the concept to serve tourists with cheap products and smiles in the longer run... hey, there won't be a long run!

Delicious food, great service! We shared king prawns to start, in a garlic and paprika sauce. Followed by sea bass banned on a salt crust, also absolutely delicious. Can't fault it.

Really Great food.. you can get other than fish and of course kids are catered for. The fresh fish is really excellent and it's nice to go pick your fish or lobster. The salt covered seabass is great dish. Prices are per kilo but a seabass for two is normally around 800g which was 36euro for both of us The staff are nice and helpful

I have visited last night 10/11/2022 with my kids after I had a reservation for 9pm. Due to an enormous turnout they were extremely busy and it took them almost 40 minutes to take my order. I have ordered a salad, octopus, kalamari, sword fish and sea bass. It took them ages to bring the food which was excellent but they didn't bring any fries and they forgot my sea bass. By the time I managed to find another waiter it was already 11pm and I didn't want to eat my fish anymore. I told them to take it out of the bill, which they did but what I didn't like, was the attitude of one man of the staff there, asking me if I really ordered the sea bass and why didn't I tell them earlier to bring it. First of all, I couldn't find any waiters and secondly it's not my job but YOUR job to keep up with the orders. Just because your fish is fresh doesn't mean you must treat clients like that. I'm sorry but I will never come back. First and last time.

we paid almost 100 euros for a fish meze for three. the salad was basically huge cuts of discarded tomatoes and cucumbers tossed together, the taramas looked like cat puke, our glasses were dirty and the watermelon at the end was over-ripe and soggy. the variety of fish was ok, there was both fried and grilled options!

Once again, Karas completely superseded our expectations. We’ve been coming back to this fantastic restaurant every year we visit Cyprus (that’s every summer since 2000). We have fish! Only fish. No idea what else there is on the menu. From what I can see around us, the menu is rich. But this place does fish amazingly well. Fresh fish, from the day’s catch from local fishing boats. Artfully cooked, beautifully served by people who care about their establishment. Highly recommended. PS For tourist who haven’t had Cypriot fish before, ask the owner to look after you. Ask to talk to him and explain that you’d like to experience a nice fresh fish meal, from today’s catch. He is an absolutely pro and he will make your night!

Visited last night with my family, food was overpriced and the food was awful. We had the meze for 2 and its was just a load of overcooked bbq food, most of which you couldn't even chew through. We have eaten all over Cyprus for years in hundreds of taverna's and this was by far the worst.

We’ve had a super tender fresh grilled octopus and crisp Cyprus sardines, both bursting with fresh, Mediterranean flavors. Coupled with friendly staff it's a must-visit for a memorable, mouth-watering seafood feast.

A gem where the locals eat. The fish in this place was so fresh and delicious, one of best I’ve ever tried, even my daughters whom are not so much of fish eaters, emptied their plates and said the food was 10/10. Costas and his team are wonderful. Overall a great experience! 100% recommended!

The food was nice here and it's one of my annual 'go to' places. The octopus was cooked to perfection but lacked a little seasoning on this occasion. All of us finished our meals and they were all enjoyed. We will be back.

Amazing food ! We ve been twice. We had calamari, prawn shrimps , saganaki shrimps , octopus, all the dips were fresh and homemade, absolutely delicious! From the best i ever had! The only problem is overcrowded and the staff running like crazy (no judgment) they try really hard to be nice and welcoming with everyone, but the heat and the noise is quite too much. Better visit hours/days when is not high season l.

This is for the tavern, not the hotel. And the tavern is great. Really good, fresh fish dishes. We went three times in one week. The fish Mezze was great, but even better were the red mullet and the sea bass in a salt crust. Absolutely recommended

A fantastic place that exceeds our expectations every time we go there! My husband and I are quite picky but this place has it all: exceptional food and service. Highly recommend.

Took my parents here for dinner. The food was lovely in fact the food was beautiful however, this was really let down by terrible service. We didn't even get the last meal even after waiting 45 mins for it to come and asking for it, nothing turned up. I then called over the manager who just ignored me. Then I asked a waitress about it and was told this wasn't her job to sort out, I then called another waitress who didn't seem to know either. I asked for the bill and was given another tables bill, they then brought the correct bill but over charged us. I won't be going back!

We had a reservation at the restaurant at 21:00! We waited until 21:30 and left waiting at the entrance! Nobody paid attention to us! We had no choice but to leave! Not well organised… while waiting we have noticed many complaints by the customers regarding the food and service!!!

Objectively and after I have tried the most of the Fish Taverns in Protaras bay area I can say with confidence that Karas Fish Tavern is the best around town. Bravo guys. Quality wise the fish was really fresh, same goes for the octopus, fresh fries not frozen as in most places, starters came on time and was pretty nice, the salad, the bread, the dips was very well prepared and their portions were actually very good for a single person. The service was much much better and professional than in any other restaurant we ve eaten. Bravo guys. Price range is also better than any other fish tavern considering that we ate real fresh fish, real fresh cut potatoes, homemade salad, different delicious dips and a beautiful watermelon that they offered us in the end. For sure re visiting. Thank you Karas team, keep it up.

Do not visit this place if you are not a British as you will be treated as a second class. From the beginning members of staff were okay but then had more British customers and completely forgot about us. Ordered lamb chunk which was very tasty and mixed grill which was very badly overcooked and dried, no one even approached to check it. Then had a conversation about this with waitress who spoke in Russian, but no response either. Don’t recommend this restaurant as prices are quite high, bad service and bistro style cooked meals. P.S.oysters were fresh and tasty

Great food! Fresh fish. Polite service. We had grilled octopus, sea bass, calamari and fresh salad. Plus tahini and tarama. Washed down with ice cold beer.

Not a good experience. Real worse, quick made & cheap bolognese. Baby calamari came with chips & nothing. Just plain calamari, no garlic, nothing!!!! Not a single dip or anything, PLAIN! calamari & chips.

Excellent cuisine! Fresh seafood prepared in the Mediterranean tradition! The fish is the most tender, as if fresh from the nets, everything is simple and very tasty! polite and quick staff. The portions are huge and they are served with salad, olives, fried potatoes and bread with an extraordinary snack. A friendly and cheerful atmosphere, of course - football on the screen and in the inner hall a collection of old football awards, cups, photographs. classic cyprus seafood place with well prepared dishes using fresh and natural iingredients. Baby calamari, grilled octopus with herbs, fresh french fries fm Cyprus, crispy greek cyprus salad accompanied with ouzo and good cyprus white wine . Finish all this with a perfect desert "gliko kidoni and vanila icecream "and a sketo cyprus coffee. yummy!

Favorite restaurant for fish meze ! Every-time we go there we take the full fish meze option because we are in love with it The octopus and calamari are cooked to perfection here. The atmosphere is very nice and enjoyable as well as the service. Some of the staff are more chatty than others and we enjoy sharing with them a few stories from Lebanon. We’ve tasted several traditional fish meze on the island and this place is still the best ! Make a reservation beforehand

Finally found a place where they serve authentic and fresh food. The restaurant stays open during off-season and the quality is really good. We had starters, grilled calamari and grilled fish. Service is very polite, we had a nice evening.
