This isn’t a very popular museum but yet a great one to visit should you have the time. It has a pretty good collection of Chinese pottery, and artifacts from Korea and Japan. Additionally some very good collection from Cambodia and Thailand. The breadth of the collection, specially the Chinese pottery, Khmer sculptures and the Gandhara art are comparable to the Asian Civilisations Museum of Singapore. The collection from Cambodia and one Buddha sculpture from Borbudur, Indonesia does raise an imp question - whether these temples pieces should be returned to its country of origin, or at the very least, whether citizens of these countries should be allowed free admission

Incredible collection, most of the sculpture is exposed to the viewer allowing you to get very close to it so that you can see them in great detail. There’s definitely a mystical element to being so close to these ancient stones, what a treat! It could definitely benefit from more explanatory text, and English translations. The main collection is from Cambodia (which was a French colony 😅) but the Chinese collection is also quite dense. Very little from Japan. The basement restaurant is definitely not an attraction, which is a shame cause it’s not easy getting a snack in the area. Overall, superb collection, great wide spaces, a great trip in space and time.

Every year we are in Paris this Museum Of Asian Art is an absolute must to visit and spend about three hours in slow movement throughout the various exhibits.. this time the exhibit of great interest for us was the Exhibition -Buddha, the golden legend... presented was a historical description of Buddha’s life and influences on the world.

Not as popular as many othe museums in Paris it is nonetheless a very beautifil one. I didn't know what to expect form this one and I mostly chose it beacause I had a few hours to kill before going to an appointment but WOW this was a marvellous surprise. The collections are beautiful and focuses on asian countries which are less represented in western musems : Cambodia, Bangladesh, Himalaya... It was delightful and I highly recommand this place which offers a lot of unusual and spectacular pieces.

My favorite in Paris. Every exhibition I’ve seen there is exceptional. They have a better collection than any other Asian museums I’ve been to.

Is dedicated to Asian art, focusing on the cultures of East, Southeast, South and Central Asia. The collection includes a diverse range of artifacts such as sculptures, ceramics, textiles, and religious objects from various Asian civilizations. There were some rooms that were closed during my visit.

Beautiful big museum I couldn’t finish it in one day so I went back the next day but definitely worth it. Also there’s a bookshop and a place to put your belongings near the exist/entrance.

I found this hidden gem in Paris that is quite often overlooked. It is a perfect place to dive inside Asian art and architecture. It was a really refreshing experience that took me out of the European culture for a moment. I would definitely suggest visiting it.

Very quiet museum with an extensive display of oriental art. Well laid out but lacking just one thing - translations into English. The audio system does little more than provide the same very limited descriptions which are scattered about in English. If there were translations then this would be a joy to visit - you could spend hours admiring the vast array of objects

A good quantity of items. There was a translation error: the Ancient Rome was contemporary with Han Dynasty while in the Chinese translation it became Qin Dynasty.

Little know and worth several visits. Unfamiliar as the eastern art might seem to an uneducated eye, everything is superbly beautiful here. And when you buy a ticket, you are offered a second free visit in the next two weeks. So, keep your ticket!

Large collection of Asian arts. Pottery, paintings, sculptures, and frescos from Asia. Separated by nations, regions, and eras. Some didactics are in multiple languages. And there is a nice view from the top floor exhibition.

Deceptively small, but actually grand with several floors of exhibits, a 13 minute film, special side exhibits. cafe, super clean bathroom. Plus, it's air conditioned. Easy to follow rooms showcase different Asian art organised by countries. Each room is quiet, clean, spacious and nicely presented without clutter. Maybe start at the very top level slowly and progressivley descend as you accelerate to the outside before it closes?

Impressive collection in a beautiful space. I highly recommend you give yourself at least 1 hour to focus on each of the four levels. You can also zip around selected galleries and still enjoy their collections. This museum is part of the Paris Museum Pass. Highly recommend it for visitors.

I came to see the movie premiere on Asian Film Week (then because it was the first Sunday of the month, we got to visit the museum for free!). Many items from many Asian countries are displayed here.

Good museum dedicated to Asian arte, most Chinese but with India, Cambodia, Japan and Korean rooms too. Unfortunately rooms dedicated to Korean and Japan were close to reorganize.

Fantastic collections of art from the Far East. Everything is very well displayed. The Cambodian collection is one of the largest and finest in the world. Indian, Japanese and Chinese art are also very well represented but there's also Tibetan, Nepalese, Vietnamese departments. Definitely worth the visit

A very extensive collection of Asian arts. The temporary exhibition "A la cour du Prince Genji" is beautifully presented.

Musée Guimet is simply unique, the beauty of the pieces exposed and the detailed descriptions make the visit to this museum a truly in-depth full immersion into the art and archaeology of Asia. As an archaeologist who has worked on the field this is simply the perfect place in which I would come back again and again. Truly suggested!

This museum has one of the best collections of asiatic art in the "western" world. The quality and comprehensiveness of the plastic arts is astounding. I was particularly impressed by the Shang bronzes and the Ghandaran statues. The terracotta figures of the Han and Tang Dynasties were fabulous, as well as the Han temples and funerary figures depicting everyday life. Finally, in every room you can find literature that explains very well the historical and cultural context of the arctifacts.

The best collection of Cambodian art outside of Cambodia. It’s nice to get away from the crowds. Good Nepalese works.

A relatively quiet Asian Art museum. Nicely designed on the inside. I went for the Pharrell exhibit with Mr. and stayed for the rest. The Pharrell exhibit was a huge statement on current culture (our obsession with phones and guns, both of which seem excessive and disposable). Classrooms are in disarray with artwork drawn and carved into disorderly desks and people posing everywhere around the room (the people taking selfies were real, by the way). Not certain they had this in mind when they planned the room. Graffiti was everywhere and it was chaotic and uncomfortable with a giant canvas drop cloth covering the floor. Great job guys!! 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Gorgeous museum displaying art from all over Asia in a very nicely polished and well-lit setting. The exhibitions are also usually worth it. Also you can come back for free for two weeks after purchasing a ticket.

A great collection of Asian art. However, I would have liked some more information about the sources of the art. We were also rushed out of the top floor of the museum by staff for reasons unexplained so we couldn't see all of it, which was a shame.

Impressive collection from South East Asia and from China. It competes with Louvre. Displays are clear even if it lacks of a general introduction that illustrates to whom may not know the geography and the history of the past of world emisphere. In the other side the Chinese part has also English and Chinese written esplicative. In the top floor and in the basement are hosted exhibitions and contemporary artworks. Well furnished souvenirs shopping with extensive bookshop specific for fast East

This place has many cultural and archeological artefacts from Asiatic origin. There is a large collection of idols, rock sculptures, inscriptions, books and literature from Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Afghan regions. Great place to visit if you are interested in Asian cultural finds.

A beautiful place with fine examples of Asian art. A great inspiration for design and some very sensitively done sculptures. It is quite quiet if you're looking for a place to sketch in peace or just sit in contemplation. Just over the road from the Palais de Tokio.

Beautiful museum. The building is worth the visit alone. The collection is simply stunning. Very well presented. A definte must see if you are into ancient ethnic art.

My favorite museum in Paris, and one of the best Asian Art collections in the world, if not the best. The scale of the Khmer stone carvings and the SE Asian and Himalayan bronzes is extraordinary, and they are unlike anything else you can see outside of visiting Asian temples in person. We had advance tickets, and there was a bit of a queue, but it was pretty small, and the Guimet is a blissfully uncrowded museum, even before Covid. There is a lot to see in the main building, and if you want to visit the Japanese annex (with garden), the hours are odd and it isn't the easiest place to find, located in an old mansion down the street from the Guimet ( Hôtel d'Heidelbach 19, Avenue d'Iéna).

Although it is a museum of oriental culture, most of the exhibits are about Buddhism, so I think it can be called a Buddhist museum.
