The base is pretty with lots of statues all around. Enthroned at the top is Alexandre Dumas. This monument is well placed in a clear area but it's a shame that we can't get closer even if the lawn with the flowers around it are pretty.

Very beautiful filigree monument. From the front you can see Alexandre Dumas sitting in an armchair. As a surprise, the musketeer D Artagnan sits on the back. A must for a Musketeers fan

(Translated by Google) The Monument to Alexandre Dumas (father), by Gustave Doré was inaugurated on November 4, 1883 in the presence of a huge crowd. The writer is depicted seated, pen in hand, writing one of his famous novels. On the pedestal is an allegory of Reading, depicting avid readers leafing through one of his books, and at the back, the figure of the famous musketeer of Artagnan. It is the last sculpted creation of Gustave Doré, renowned artist, painter, printmaker, sculptor, illustrator, who died in January 1883.

(Translated by Google) Statue of Alexandre Dumas father (1802 to 1870), a writer best known for the novels on The Three Musketeers, Queen Margot and even The Count of Monte Cristo. Do not forget to go see the statue of his son Alexandre Dumas fils (1824 to 1895) on the other side of the square, less known than his father.
