An upmarket Italian restaurant housed in a stunning building and connected to The Westin Perth. Great ambience inside and outside. We had a very high expectation when we walked in but were let down by the food. The spread that accompanied the bread was the least favourite. All the 3 of us ordered pasta for our mains. The texture of the pasta was amazing but the pasta dishes were very bland. It could probably because lack of seasoning. We could taste the freshness of some ingredients. The cheeses used were of great quality. I hope the restaurant will look into this matter because I really want to give it another chance. In contrast, the desserts were delicious. I will return!

Honestly a great place for a culinary experience. Wonderful journey for your taste buds. Well done to all the Chefs!. Also love the attention to detail, a waitress serving our table realised my compulsive way of placing cutlery and tailored to it afterwards without me saying anything.

Worst Italian restaurant in town! I had a really bad experience last week with my family. Pasta was overcook and with no taste. Main course was poor and very tasteless. I'm still embarrassed for the behavior of one of the chef with the long beard. I assume that is the main chef. Scream against the other chefs and he were very nervous too. Unfortunately we will never come back.

An excellent experience dining here on the buffet breakfast experience. I was overwhelmed by choice and was excited each morning to return to try some more. All the food was excellent quality and the staff were attentive, professional and catered to your needs.

This has got to be the most amazing restaurant in Perth with exceptional service. Please note this review is based on food on their previous menu. I was served by a beautiful lady named "Valerie" who gladly served me with the upmost respect and professionalism. She explained to me the origins of the ingredients and recommended the dishes that were suitable for my taste. The complimentary bread was served as soon as I sat down and was great with the side sauce. The kingfish was really fresh and was served in such a beautiful manner. The duck tortellini was the best dish of the night where the pasta used to wrap the filling was thin enough where it wasn't wrapped in 2cm dough which might overpower the whole dish. The pasta to filling ratio was spot on. The veal was very good, however, I did find the sauce a bit salty. Overall, it was a generous serving. I loved the lemon tart. The freshness of the meringue and lemon inside the tart was the best combination. Overall, in addition to great service and great food the restaurant is a definite go to in Perth and I highly recommend it.

Haven’t been back since long time ago, taking my friend her for her birthday, I have to say everything is amazing. Both cocktails we ordered were great, especially my elderflower spritz. Complimentary bread was so yummy, love the king fish crudos and the freshness of oyster! Seafood pasta & the pork were cooked perfectly. We were so full, but can’t help ourselves and order a tiramisu to share. They also gave my friend a complimentary dessert with candle for her birthday. Service is so friendly, the Italian girl who served us was great, change our sharing plates and cutleries every course, also wiped our table too. Highly recommended!!!

High end Italian with delicious food options. Staff are friendly and made the experience enjoyable. Wine menu by the glass reasonable but lacks a bit of the high end atmosphere, I think largely as how it is attached to the hotel. Unfortunately extraction not working properly so the dining area was quite smoky.

Meal started off good with the sourdough which was a nice touch given we were all pretty hungry on arrival. Ordered the duck liver pate as an appetiser, which was really good! The wait for mains after was around 30 minutes. Ordered the cacio e pepe ($24) and clam and crab tagliolini ($28). Portions were extremely small for the price and pasta was done slightly under al dente and there wasn’t any crab in the tagliolini at all either. Clams were underdone and most of all, the pasta was bland and disappointing. One of us had been here before and highly recommended this place to visit. She commented that it never used to taste this bland. Informed the staff of this in case it was a genuine mistake on the restaurant’s part and were asked if we wanted to order more food instead. No real care for our feedback and no efforts made to clarify the situation. Waited another 35 minutes for our dessert even though this was ordered at the start of the meal. Tiramisu ($18) was alright but the mille feuille ($16) was dry and the ratio of cream to pastry was poor. Huge waste of money. Waited another 15 minutes and had to ask staff twice for the bill. Extremely disappointing. Definitely would not recommend for a nice dinner out.

I have to say I was very excited to dine here but the food was very disappointing. The venue is incredible and the staff were lovely. There's your two stars. But the pasta for both dishes was undercooked, bland and leathery. The fettuccini carbonara was thick and stodgy and it was just salty. No flavours. Just salty. The crab pasta was ok, but nothing special. The octopus had a funk which I have not tasted in octopus before so that wasn't pleasant. The scallops were beautiful, and so were the desserts. The only two dishes I would go back for but I probably won't be going back.

The weekend breakfast buffet was amazing! The spread, quality of food was terrific. And the staff were super quick and responsive. It made my Saturday morning - truly! I was also amazed by the quality of the Franke commercial coffee maker - the coffee was really good and shocked it was made by machine. Whoever calibrated the machine with the coffee beans gets a medal!

Being a foodie from Melbourne I’m fussy. This establishment is First class, we ate here five times over four days for brekky, lunch, room service and dinner. On every occasion the food was delicious, staff attentive and vibe buzzing. We had the octopus, duck, pate, scallops, quail and ox tail to name a few. Plus the poached eggs in the morning were perfect, the pumpkin soup divine and that salad insalata OMG I know it’s just cos lettuce but it tasted like they’d gone out into the garden and picked it just for me, it was so fresh just superb. Worth the price highly recommend.

Nice place to dine, though pasta did not bring a wow factor. Great atmosphere to dine at night and great side dishes and main. Pasta was underwhelming, lacking flavours and surprised at the price to upgrade to a main portion ($34~$38) for a plain pasta with cheese! Hard to justify paying the prices with other restaurants providing pack full of flavours. Overall good experience and really appreciate the service.

Food is delicious and staff is very friendly. I’d only have to say that some portions seem too small. It just depends on what you order. And we waited for our food for quite a while. Also, the room is a bit noisy, which is not very suitable if you want to have a romantic or a business dinner. Overall, I’d say that it’s a nice place and worth a visit.

Restaurant has a great atmosphere and food is nice. Service was good and our table lady was lovely. However, our food came before our drinks. We ordered a lot of different food and everyone had something else from the menu. I should admit, food is good and I am happy to come back to this place.

just don't try to be there on their happy hours. You can't tell if they are open or what?!! went there once on happy hours and staff were sitting on the tables and having a chat. when asked if they are open? got an answer "depends, what are you after?" Walked out without trying their food.

Had a terrible experience here. Am not a person to usually give bad reviews but the service is just shocking! Waited for ages just to get our order taken. Had to approach the staff twice and after a long wait, finally order was taken. Seafood was good especially scallops. Steak was average, pasta was unique. Wanted to get some dessert but decided not to as we waited for ages once again just to be served. When I asked for the bill, I had to wait once again at least 10 to 15 minutes just for it to arrive and then to be asked if we did not want any dessert. Upon saying no, the guy was rude, no smile nothing just walked away. We paid by cash put it together with the bill and once again was a bit lost as no one was there to collect the money. Finally after a long wait the same guy came back got the money no thank you nothing and just went away with the bill. On the way out we walked pass and not a single thank you or bye. For a restaurant with such a high reputation I am dumb founded by how this can even happened. May only be this one night, I do not know but please keep this in mind when wanting to go there in the future especially for celebration etc. The only reason I decided not to make a scene was because it was my brother's in law birthday on that day. Many other places you can go with better food and much much much better service.

Went here for breakfast while staying at the hotel. Overall, really great experience. Food was very good. The breakfast selection was vast. Something for everyone for sure. Lots of fresh things including fruit, vegetables, breaks, desserts, pastries. Ala carte breakfast options were available too. Staff were very friendly and almost a little too attentive! Atmosphere is lovely. The resturant is well presented and the food is like something from a painting.

We came for dinner on Wednesday evening at 6pm, unfortunately I forgot the waitresses name who took care of us but she was phenomenal, her service was faultless and anything we asked for she rushed off immediately to get for us. We also asked if we could have a sneak peak at the private dining room before we left and she organised it with the manager for us. A really lovely girl and a great worker you have there! Secondly, the food was amazing! Wasn’t a single thing we could fault and we’ll definitely be booking here again for dinner and our private function.

Incredibly overpriced and lousy service. Tried to charge us $30 for sparkling water without even asking us first. Food took a long time and was a very small portion for what you pay for. Given the option of a "salad" which was literally lettuce leaves sprinkled with pepper? Unbelievable

Food was good quality but not particularly memorable. Found the service and the atmosphere to be lacking. Service staff not very attentive and seemed to be unfamiliar with the menu offerings. The acoustics were particularly bad - there was a large group in an adjacent 'area' of the restaurant who were obviously having a great evening but it echoed excessively through the whole venue

Don’t forget to order GARUM WINES. Nice setting place, dinner was great. Octopus was very tasty and tender. The quail was one of my favorites - great marination and right level of roasting, juicy inside and crispy skin. “Cacio e pepe” (didn’t take picture of this pasta dish) was amazing - so simple ingredients = taste of real Italian food! Crab pasta was good - right hint of chili was very refreshing. Tiny disappointment with the fish as it was overly salted, like they were salted twice by the accident or something. So we return it to the kitchen as I could not have it. Overall experience still great there are other dishes we still want to try - great menu options.

Had a meal here during a staycation with my husband and it was really lovely- the setting was great an older building which was attached to the Westin. They had an open kitchen which i found fascinating to watch. The sympathetic way the restaurant sits inside what looks like an industrial heritage building was lovely- onto food - have included photos- wow everything was spot on and we were impressed by everything we had that night. It was a truly enjoyable meal and we both said we certainly will come back as this was our first experience of an evening meal there. The portion size was good and the quality of product and presentation spot on. We were not disappointed with our choices in anyway and are keen to return and try other mouthwatering choices from the menu. Well done everyone- our evening meal was perfect and the staff where all genuine lovely people, a great team across service and kitchen which you could see worked together in perfect harmony- hats off to you all

I have been to Garum numerous times, with varying group sizes and for varying occasions. From mothers day lunches with set menus, dinner for two and group dinner bookings with friends. I can say that over the course of nearly 5 years, I have had an overwhelmingly positive experience with Garum every occasion. My most recent visit on Saturday was no exception. We ordered Cacio e pepe Bistecca And got the dessert. In traditional Garum style we also received the free sourdough, which is always delicious. I've had the Cacio e pepe multiple times before and love it as a staple dish. It's has a beautiful simplicity about it with lovely peppery flavours mixed with the pecorino. I had never had the Bistecca before and felt it was well worth every dollar spent on it. We ordered ours rare, which is how it came. My favourite place to be seated in Garum is where I can oversee the kitchen. Watching the hustle and bustle is always enjoyable. It is also refreshing to see over the course of dining at Garum seeing the same staff, waiters, waitresses and chefs. Well worth a visit and I'll be returning next time I visit Perth.

The restaurant boasts a delightful ambiance, coupled with attentive service that extends to accommodating my allergy needs. 1. Zucchini Flower: A perfect 10/10. It was so delectably creamy and flavorful that we could have easily devoured ten of these! 2. Octopus: A solid 6.5/10. While the octopus itself was tender and flavorful, the red sauce didn't quite complement the dish and seemed to detract from its overall flavor. 3. Duck Tortellini: Another perfect score of 10/10. The broth infused in the duck tortellini was luxuriously rich, and each bite was bursting with flavor. 4. Kingfish Ceviche: A stellar 10/10. The sauce was absolutely divine, and the addition of pear slices on top brought everything together in perfect harmony. 5. Cacio e Pepe: A modest 6/10. It lacked that special touch and came across as a bit bland. 6. Fish: A commendable 8/10. It simply melted in the mouth, offering a delightful culinary experience. Thank you for a wonderful birthday experience!

Hosted my husbands surprise 30th birthday dinner in the Polpo Private Dining Room at Garum and everything was absolutely perfect! The exclusivity of the dining room enhanced the experience and suited the event well. All of our guests were extremely impressed with the entire menu! Each dish served was presented at a high standard with the taste to match. The service was impeccable from bump in to our private server for the evening. Alejandra R was incredibly attentive, professional and created a seamless atmosphere for all of our guests. 10/10 highly recommend Garum for private dining events!

Absolute disappointment with both food and service. Serve sizes too small for sharing for entree, pasta chewy and staff rude and not interested. Left as soon as we could.

Went there for a drink with some bar snacks, the quality of the food is average, duck liver was nice. They have happy hours between 4:30 to 6pm, half price drinks (some, not all) and bar snacks. The bar snack is bit pricy if not half priced. It is nice place for having a drink after work and staff are friendly.

Nice food and service okay. The only issue we had is that we were judged by the manager/host who gave us a look when we came in to see how we look and we were given the worst table in the restaurant when the whole place was almost empty on a Wednesday night. We left tip for the waitress not for him.

Beautiful setting but very intimate with other guests, could hear their conversations more than our own. Food was sensational, a must try! We did get someone else's food at one point and ours kept going to the table next to us; staff probably need to learn the table numbers but cannot fault the food and the lady that took our orders.

Went for dinner with the husband. Would have been 5 stars if we had received our complimentary bread. It wouldn't be such an issue if I hadn't tried to order bread and then been assured that we would receive bread and made a big deal about it being complimentary. It was also listed on our receipt (granted for $0) but if you're going to make such a thing about your complimentary bread it's best to make sure people get it. The table next to us ended up asking for theirs but by the time I realised we weren't getting ours they'd served our mains and I didn't want the bread anymore. Given the high level of service and attention to detail in every other aspect it was disappointing that none of the staff noticed and rectified the issue. It looked like really really good bread too 😔 The food was good but I'd like the potatoes to be a bit more crispy. We had the saltimbocca and the pork ragu and I would recommend both.

We had a nice night but the only thing that let it down was the main. The pasta was gluggy and stuck together and very heavy with cheese. Also we had to ask twice about our after dinner drinks. Nice location and good service apart from that.

As a foodies, I read the other reviews and decided to give this place a go and felt different to most. I totally agree that the food takes a while, but well worth the wait. It's excellent. The sausage for two. Yummy! (But a tad bit salty), Octopus wow, Porchetta is probably one of the best in town. If you're having a lovely time with a date or a group having long conversations this spot is perfect for those situations. difficult to park around though as the CPP next to Westin is constantly full (not sure why, Wilson Parking is crazy expensive!).

We enjoyed Christmas lunch here. It was a terrific experience and we will be back next year. The service and food were next level. Everything was exceptional and made for an extra special family occasion. So much food and spaced so we could enjoy the afternoon and take full advantage of their wine and cocktail list. Thank you.

Loved the ambience and the spacious seating area. Service was friendly and prompt, but I felt for the waiter boy struggling to take the order on a paper note pad half the size of his palm.. 🤦‍♀️ One of the dishes we ordered seemed to have got missed and never made it to the table and I don't blame the waiter! Ordered some seafood pasta dish, but it had a strong prawn smell and was rather dry for my liking.

The Italian influenced food was very good. I had the octopus starter that was cooked to perfection. Followed by the carbonara. Here I could suggest that more guanciale is used and that the dish is made a bit drier just as it comes in Rome. I expected to see the egg clinging to the pasta as it cooks in the heat.

The venue location is amazing with awesome facilities. The scallops were great, careful theyre HOT. I ordered the pasta as a main and the portions were a little too small. High quality Roman inspired food. Fantastic service that is informative and attending. Having a birthday card on the table was a lovely surprise bookended by a special birthday dessert. Great! Pasta sauce was inspirational, a freshness and depth that makes for more. Scallop was so fresh you could see the ocean, cooked to perfection. Dish of the day was probably the lamb shoulder finished with a crusty top for texture. Soft, melt in the mouth and intensely lamb. Beautiful. Wine list, a mix of WA goodness balanced with Italian vino. Very good and best Italian I have had.

We've visited for the Love Italy Lunch special twice, great value at $49 for 3 course with wine and coffee. The food is good, without being outstanding. Hearty dishes with a lot of flavour. The service is good, except both visits we were served the wrong dessert. But that's nothing to complain about really!

The venue is great but for me the whole experience lacked the wow factor. The food is good but no wow. Sorry.

Great looking RESTAURANT, Bar & Café and a part of THE "5 STAR" WESTIN HOTEL.... Beautiful interiors throughout & a great atmosphere with a Stunning Courtyard outside, overlooking HIBERNIAN PLACE.. A great morning breakfast if you're a guest of THE WESTIN HOTEL & a great lunch & dinner menu also... Next time you are in the vicinity of ROYAL PERTH HOSPITAL.. Add it to your bucket list.. Exquisite, sublime and decadent. All words to describe this sensational addition to the Perth dining scene. Our meal consisted of the King Fish and Quail for entree followed by the lamb, and a duck pasta. Each dish was delicious in its own right. From the sourdough with parsley pesto through to the custard donut dessert. Everything was just wonderful.

Service was great, waitstaff were friendly and accommodating. Appetizers (scallop and octopus) were both fantastic, pasta (crab and ragu) were good, steak was yummy, dessert (cream bun + tiramisu) were also good. I would definitely go back for the appetizers! Will not rave about the dessert though - the portion and the taste did not justify the price. 2 appetizers + 2 pasta(entree size) + 1 main + 2 dessert + 2 glasses of wine + 2 cocktails = $250

First time at Garum and we will definitely return. And not just because it is so local to us. Very flavourful though. My partner had the cured Kingfish starter and the duck tortelli, both of which were amazing.

Underwhelming. Staff were lovely and service was good, however the food was disappointing. Heavy, under cooked pasta with quite bland flavours. Expected more for the price and this restaurants reputation!

Celebrated my birthday there this year, aesthetically stunning, beautifully presented. Dare I say I have had better. The company made up for the ok food. Ticked off my to do list.

Nice place. Tried to come for dinner and arrived at pre dinner time so was placed near the bar. Decided to wait for dinner service all good. Alright bar service no worries so I gotta go and order and pick up myself from the bar. Got it. However, the bearded bar guy is super disinterested if not rude, splashing ingredients towards me when making my drinks. Shouting over my hand almost into my face to communicate something to his colleague. No smiles. No thank you BACK, yes I still said thank you first. Worst service in town!!!. Lets wait for dinner. Alright the actual female dinner staff and Asian waitress are very nice and carry a smile as you would expect for a place like this. Gotta have a talk to that bar guy. What an attitude. The rest of the team is nice. Lets wait for dinner. Alright the quality of the food was quite good. So the are getting some points back here. Although for $48 dollars or so having a kids size portion is a bit stingy to be honest. We are not big eaters but after spending $100 per person for drinks and food and still feeling a bit hungry is a bit much.
