Lunch @IvyAndJack where the weekly theme was Brazillian and I chose the Brazilian Moqueca: Grilled fish with mixed capsicum cooked in coconut cream, infused with typical Brazilian oil, a side of beetroot crumb, and buttered banana. The fish has a lovely crispy skin, the flesh is super tender, and I love the beetroot crumb. Along with the banana and capsicum and the lovely sauce, this is a tasty lunch. #BrazilianFood #fish #beetrootcrumb #lunch #foodie #perthfood #northbridge @zomatoperth

Went here for breakfast, my friends got their food but the waiter took one look at me and said I should continue fasting and didn't give me my food for another 45 minutes. Eventually they gave me my food after letting it Cool down. I hate it when it's beautifully warm, so that's good. I asked for soy milk but they gave me milk from a heffer, I love surprises, Especially when my senile grandfather is vegan. I hate myself, so I will return! Maybe for the excellent buffet, but certainly for the service. I know my dog won't like the food though because he has standards. Oh well can't win them all. Much love xxx

I hate giving poor reviews but this is in hope you fix the current issues! Service was non existent due to being very short staffed. Bar line-up was 8-10 deep to order food & drinks. Food took 45min for entree & 1hr for the main. The main they totally forgot & had to ask me what i ordered. Many other tables had late service, the waitress must have been on first shift as she didnt know where to go, who to give what food to etc.... Please train your staff & don't put them in these poor working conditions. My entree was nice, the main was swimming in pesto sauce at the bottom, must have been the whole jar which left me feeling quite average afterwards. The place is nicely styled, fix your service, fine tune your food, train the staff & everything should be good from there

Mixed feeling about this place. I have eaten here 3 evenings in a row and every day something has happened: issues in the kitchen, long service, etc. On the other hand, the place is really nice and I had one waitress one day that was really good.

Very disappointed to go out for a drink on Saturday after work with a colleague of mine. After paying for two pints the lady came over and said the machine declined even though I saw it said approved on the machine. Anyway positive intent and all believing that her machine timed out I paid for it a second time. Yesterday I see my card had been charged twice, I rang Ivy and Jack and the girl on the phone said “I need to put you on to the manager”. I then spoke to a lovely lady on the phone who was very apologetic and asked me to please come in around 10am today and we will immediately refund you. So I leave home 3 hours before my shift starts to go into Ivy and Jack for the refund and a lady by the name of Leanne wouldn’t refund me due to my transaction on the app saying “authorisation only” even though every single transaction for the past 6 months says that. So they want to do some investigating before giving me a refund. I understand that you need to make sure everything is in order to offer a refund but how about asking me on the phone to send an email containing the transactions that way I don’t have to come in as requested by your establishment to be told we can’t refund you. Very disappointed a group of 30 of us were going to attend Ivy and Jack this Friday for a colleagues goodbye drinks after work we have now changed that to the Aviary. In fear of you guys charging us twice. Please avoid. If this review stays up and you can still read it I haven’t been refunded.

Very disappointing. They had run out of half the menu (including the only kids meal our son would eat but only told us after waiting 40mins). Everything took so long and we had an event to go to and ending up having to wolf our food down to make it on time even though we booked for 5pm in a half empty restaurant. Was promised a refund for the meal my son didn't get but never happened. They forgot drinks, forgot cutlery, forgot sauces. Was ignored at the bar for staff having a chat. Awful. Then 2hrs later got an email from the booking service we booked through reprimanding us as the restaurant said we'd noshowed. Never again.

While I can't comment on the food (I only had coffee), the coffee was superb! And much cheaper than elsewhere. The barista, a Japanese lady was so polite & friendly. Spacious & a nice ambience. I'll definitely return.

I was impressed with my recent dining experience at Ivy and Jack. Staff are very friendly, attentive and the recommendation for the house shiraz cab was delicious with my porterhouse which was cooked to perfection. Shiraz cab was only $8 too for HH special which was a bargain. Venue looks to be short staffed so exercising some patience and respect goes a long way. Future customers remember to order at the bar as they don't serve your table. Venue looks very clean and plush, it has a very certain charm and footy on TV is great. 5/5 stars for me ⭐️

My wife and I are staying at the comfort inn in Perth. After spending the afternoon in Perth shopping we booked into our room at 3pm. Had a break, watched some tv, and then started thinking about dinner. We didn’t want to go far from the hotel so just next door is Ivy & Jack. I ordered the burger and my wife ordered the fish and chips. We both ordered a lemon lime and bitter to wash it down. I have to say the burger was delicious. The chips were a stand out and the salad good. The fish and chips were tasty, the fish slightly oily, but overall good. We spent $65 for dinner and drinks, which we thought for a Perth restaurant was value. Anyway if you find yourself in Perth give it a go. I highly recommend it. Happy dinning Doug D

This is the smallest Chicken Parmigiana I have ever had. I queried the size with the waitress who asked the chef - the Chef sent it back to me. Waitress seemed to agree with me regarding the size and offered a free beer as compensation - I never received that beer. Will not be back.

Overall great experience. Notably, an Asian staff member has been extremely generous with the tomato sauce.

I hate giving poor reviews but... We dined last night, booking at 4.30 but waited till 5pm to order from the dinner menu. I ordered the ragu which was definitely not a ragu, but was a bolognese (yes mince meat was the only 'beef' in the dish) and pasta that had been reheated. How do I know it was reheated? None of the pasta had a round shape, it was all squashed flat. Also, once the top layer was pushed aside you could see the shape of the rectangular container. I would have said something to the waitress but she was rude and too busy "finding the dinner menus". Extremely disappointed. I understand the care factor will be limited but I felt it necessary to pass on this feedback. Hopefully the menu can actually start reflecting what is served. One upside, the seasoning on the chips was tasty.

The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and great setup but was disappointing beyond that. It was a very quiet night but we waited far too long for drinks, which didn’t come all at once. We waited almost an hour for our food — even then, only one person in our party received their meal. I don’t often talk badly about waitstaff but they were inattentive, cold and not very helpful when we asked how long the wait for the rest of the food would be. We ordered the bar bites platter and pesto pasta, which was painfully average, if that: it was something I could have cooked myself. Pasta was cold by the time it came out, the pulled pork arancini was bland and doughy and the chicken wings had been absolutely smothered in hot sauce to cover up the fact that they simply just weren’t good. I will say that the S&P squid was decent, but we won’t be coming back again. Save your time and money. Not worth it.

Such a shame... Cocktails are great, and the food is decent. However the customer service here is terrible, and practically non-existent. When wait staff drop cutlery on the floor and place it back onto patrons plates and serve it to them. That's even more of a red flag.

The staff were great, friendly, nothing was too much trouble. I got the special lunch & drink. Food was very tasty, good value, good choice of drinks on special. I had cider, then a beer. Will definitely be back. :)

Stayed at Holiday Inn and we found Ivy and Jack very convinient place to dine in with the kids. Restaurant, Bar and Cafe all in one. We had our coffee fix with some yummy sweets for the kids too. I am not sure if it was a busy night but there were few empty tables, we had to wait for sometime before our sweets to be served and our hot drinks have gone cold, hubby had to order another one he finished his before the desserts have been served. I will still give it a good rating because of the friendly ambiance, location and yummy sweets.

I had an impromptu dinner date with my husband after work at Ivy and Jack. Such a lovely place within a busy Perth city area. We both ordered the Chicken Parmi. My husband loved it he was not too fuss about food especially chicken parmi is his all time favourite. However in my opinion the chicken bit was a bit too dry. Other than that, everything else was lovely: Quick service, friendly staff, spacious relaxing place, etc. Will definitely come back. P/S my chicken parmi was in a heart shape and i loved it :)

Loved this place! Stumbled across it by chance as where we had planned to go was closed. It is darkly lit with that industrial feel to it, I loved the touches of the past with references to it being a cinema and a bit of history inside the menu! The staff were polite and accommodating, the drinks were somewhat limited but definitely had something for everyone. The food was delicious, I had the Salmon and it was perfect! I’d come back without a doubt

Lunch for 2. Ordered both daily specials. Took 40 minutes to serve after asking if food was forgotten. Rump steak was burnt outside but bloody inside which is ok for good steak. This was so chewy I had to rip it apart as the knife wouldn't cut it. Atmosphere was nice and staff friendly.

Savored a delightful coffee experience at Ivy and Jack, where the blend was nothing short of amazing. While enjoying my cup, the lively atmosphere added an extra layer of enjoyment, especially with the soccer action.

Super expensive….. have never been shocked at a food portion in my life. 18 for just eggs and bread, 17 for baby pancakes? I’m sorry, what?

Nice atmosphere in the middle of the city but the food takes too long despite the place only having one or two people and it wasn't that good. I had ordered an iced chocolate drink but got served iced mocha twice! Not sure if they just sent it back without trying?

Grabbing a coffee with a friend here. A perfect place to catch up - seats are comfortably spaced out with nice background music. We enjoyed the coffee made by Violet today. Love the friendly staff here :)

Worst breakfast we've in a very long time. Pancakes were palm sized, burnt and dry. Bacon was over cooked and inedible. Toast was stale and dry. Food came out almost instantly and we suspect it was brought over from the buffet which had just closed, so it had been sitting there for hours and was not fresh. A group of 4 of us came in, 1 person ordered 2 meals, when the next went to order the next lot, the server walked away. We then had to wait as she made coffee before she came back over a few minutes later and said "oh you want to order too?". Common sense surely would dictate that if 4 people were there, we would want to order 4 meals. Avoid this place, shocking experience from start to finish.

I suspect the service issue here is a post Covid staffing problem. Arrived at 5.50 (restaurant was almost empty as so early) order two cocktails and two mains at the same time. Drinks took 15-20 mins to arrive. Meals didn’t get put on table under almost 7. Took an hr to make a chicken ceaser salad, the chicken wasn’t even hot, it had been taken out of the fridge cut and put on the salad, same with the egg. Chicken parmi was the only hot item and it’s was described as distinctly “meh”. Only go if you have oodles of time which luckily we had and if you can’t find somewhere else. It’s not like we got food poisoning or anything but for the cost of stuff these days, you want it to be good and within a decent amount of time.

My booking was made through Open table, this was a simple process. We Arrived on time and were seated to our reserved table. Tap water was offered and we were told to attend the bar to order food and drinks ( Which was fine) We placed 2 separate orders the first was for a bottle of Champagne and a main of Salmon, the second order was for one cocktail a main of Salmon and a main Chicken. The person serving us seemed to not interested in her job or any kind of service, she gave us the bottle of champagne in a bucket of ice unopened. We sat down at the table and opened our bottle of champagne and pored our drinks. Less than 2 minutes later a Salmon main meal was delivered to our table, we thought how could this be we only just ordered our food but assumed the rest of the food and cocktail would come out fast as well. Another 5 minutes later, the cocktail was delivered to our table (by a female waiter who looked like she didn't want to be there let alone serve anyone)without speaking or eye contact she placed the drink on the table. We then waited 15-20 mins for the other 2 main dishes. We did note the first Salmon meal was just warm in comparison to the later served meals which were served on a warm plates. We have no complaints of the quality of food, all of which were very tasty and well cooked. We can only assume the kitchen had a spare Salmon dish and delivered to our table to save wastage. The disappointing thing is the 3 main meals should have been delivered to the table at the same time. As the first delivered dish was only just warm my friend had finished eating before the other meals came to the table. When we were leaving we had a very friendly good bye and thanks for coming from a staff member who was at the front desk this was the most animated staff member we encountered. I write this review not for personal gain just for the owners or management to be made aware this was a true account of my experience dated 24/3/22. I rate my review 3 stars for the tasty food, the service didn't deserve any stars as it was almost non-existent.

The deco of this way better than the food. Food was average and it took about just over an hour to make a steak sandwich and a salad. Not a great experience for the first meal in Perth.

Food was good value from a limited menu. Service was polite but it took a while to find someone to serve me. Probably a sign of the times post pandemic. Under used option for lunch in Perth.

Not great, I use this site as it’s attached to the holiday In on Hay. Breakfast is poor - as an example this morning there’s no coffee, bacon appears to be a luxury item they don’t provide and it’s representative of the typical service whilst staying here. Avoid the $32 and use a cafe that is proactive.

  • 2/5 Pradyumn V. 2 years ago on Google
Quick service however food is quite poor quality and quantity wise considering the cost of most mains. The beer selection is quite limited and cocktails have poor quality. Basically there is much better food and drink for the same price within walking distance.

Kind of expensive for what you get. Seems like there’s a lot of new staff who aren’t on to it. Eg Serve food without cutlery People lining up in a non serving area, which wasn’t marked Service area unattended Chicken undercooked The alcohol was good though

The Ribs were tasty, as was the oven baked salmon and burgers. Disappointed with the John Dorey and kids menu. The beer special left a lot to be desired. Lovely set up, good spaced tables.

Not impressed today. Firstly, there was no record of my booking, not a big deal as there was space. Three beers were on special on the little board but the one I asked for was sold out! My friend and I had the wagga burger that was dry, overcooked and fairly tasteless. When mentioned, we got the usual "I'll let the chef know". Not likely to visit again.

The food was reeeeeeeeeeally average. Service was fine, and the venue alright. But man, the food is just not great. This was from everyone at the table, who all got different things

Great place for a catch up with friends and a few drinks. If you plan on staying longer they also have a great menu and fantastic food. Would definitely recommend you stop by and try it out. Good location, close to public transport and easy to get a taxi home if you habe a few to many.

Good deals on cocktails 4pm-7pm but the service was absolutely atrocious! Waited 20-30 per cocktail ordered and the bar was not even a quarter full, absolute joke.

  • 2/5 Barrie T. 5 years ago on Google
Bar & restaurant inside the Holiday Inn. Visited on a Tue for dinner. It would benefit from table service as it has a pub atmosphere where you order at the bar. On arrival there’s a “wait to be seated” sign which is pointless as bar staff say you can sit anywhere. They have a sign outside with a picture of a cocktail advertising happy hour everyday 5pm-6pm but no cocktails were on special on tue. We arrived at 5pm. I asked 3 times for a dinner menu. Finally 3rd waiter said we weren’t allowed to see the menu til 530pm. I had grilled fish which was like rubber, the burger was acceptable if I was in a pub and the dessert looked great but was quite ordinary. By 630pm it was packed with office workers eating & drinking. They seem to have a lot of dining & drink offers. I’d go back if there was a 2 for 1 offer or cheaper cocktails but wouldn’t rush back. If you like pub grub you’ll like this place. The best thing about this place is the booth tables for 2

After sitting down for 10 minutes, the music was turned off and cleaning began, The noise of the scrubbing the floor behind the bar was loud enough that we couldn’t hold a conversation. The doors were locked shortly after. When the meals came out they were disappointing, the lamb pie was fatty and barely edible, the Barra looked more like a McNugget than a piece of barramundi. In short, the quality of the meal, service and atmosphere is not what we would expect of a venue of this calibre and certainly did not represent value for money -$98 for what looked like frozen, deep fried Barra, a fatty lamb pie and a bottle of red. This review was put to management before posting, no response has been received in two weeks.

Worst service I’ve ever experienced. After 1/2 an hour we had to go up the bar to see where our drinks were. Ordered entrees and mains. ALL food came out together! Ordered 2 steaks (1 x medium, 1 x rare) when asked which was which - waiter; “doesn’t matter, they’re the same.” The medium arrived well done and the rare arrived medium well - when we raised this with staff the “waiter” told my partner to swap his (what was supposed to be) RARE with the other person on the table to fix the issue. (despite being completely different orders!). Completely rubbish food and absolutely appalling service. Wouldn’t feed the food to my dog! Will never return and certainly NEVER recommend.
