In Peshawar museum there is separately maintained corridors of Hindus, Sikhs and Muslim historical architectures..... Related to Governor Raj material is also established at Peshawar museum. The Peshawar Museum is located on Saddar Road opposite Governor House Peshawar & Civil Secretaria in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Peshawar Museum is notable for its collection of Buddhist artwork dating from the ancient Gandhara region. The Peshawar Museum was founded in 1907 as "Victoria Hall," in memory of Queen Victoria. The two-story building was built in a syncretic architectural style consisting of British, Hindu, Buddhist and Mughal Islamic styles. The museum initially had only one exhibition hall, but two more were added in 1969–70. In 2004–05, the museum was further expanded with the construction of a new block with two galleries, two halls for the museum's collection in storage, offices for the provincial directorate of archaeology, a conservation laboratory and a cafeteria. The historic exhibition hall was also renovated at that time.

It's a beautifully maintained building with wonderful and interesting artefacts. Some of the artefacts had been sent to China for exhibition. When I visited it was very quiet time. They downstairs are dedicated to Buddha and Hinduism, but then upstairs is the Mughals empire and the beautiful diversity that resides in Pakistan to this day. It's nicely laid out, so you get to see the history in almost a timeline experience. All in all, I had a good time with family, explaining to kids the history of Pakistan and also what certain tools or items were. Definitely recommend.

Peshawar Museum; the most important and largest collection of Gandhara Art in the world, and is one of the most popular museums in south Asia. Historic building of Peshawar Museum being restored to its original form by KP Archaeology, removing later additions and using original material and conservation techniques..A lot of potential for religious tourism (Latif Ur Rehman, AD Information KP Tourism Department)

Very well presented and preserved National and Religious treasures. Very very well maintained museum with large spacious displays with Brief description. Didn't find tour guides but I believe it's because it's very easy to navigate and understand the treasures on display. Buddha's civilization rich history has a vast presence with dozens of sculptures all over the ground floor. Another area displays Islamic arts with main focus on ancient Quranic collection. Hand written ones on old papers in different handwritings and styles with ones with different translations are quite interesting and gathered by far most crowd. Ayats written on stones was another special feature. And then there was whole gallery of pashtuns with main focus on different weapons used in different eras. A must visit for history lovers. Loved the overall experience in a lovely well managed and beautiful building which preseves ancient glory in beautiful wide mesmerizing halls.

One of the best museum I've ever visited and the best place you can visit with your family. The Peshawar Museum is outstanding for its assortment of Buddhist craftsmanship dating from the old Gandhara art and the best place for historic art lovers. The two-story building was underlying a syncretic engineering style comprising of English, Hindu, Buddhist and Mughal Islamic styles. I'll recommend this place.

Beautiful architectural marvel from British era turned into Museum. A lot historic articles and Buddhist artifacts. Could spend ~2-3 hours to cover the whole area. One down side was that Android app is outdated and doesn't support new phones anymore which makes the experience less informative. Well lit, well maintained.

Peshawer museum is located in civil secretariat next to the Shuhada-e-APS library. Among other things it has biggest collection of the Budhist artifacts, antiques etc. No indoor photography of the museum is allowed. Its strictly prohibited to take the photographs of even the museum building from outside when on the premises. Currently the museum is closed for visitors due to the reason that renovation and restructuring of the electric system of the building. It is assumed that it will be open to public hopefully in next three to four months.

One of the largest collection of Buddhas and located in a beautiful heritage building. It's sad that most people in Peshawar don't visit the museum. Also the museum needs to evolve and broaden its collection to attract visitors. They have a great space and need to modernise their inventory and expand.

(Translated by Google) Peshawar District, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been called Peshawar at different times. One of the names of Peshawar was Porshpur, which was the capital of Gandhara. Gandhara was the government of northwestern Pakistan, comprising Swat, Chitral, Dir, Bajaur, Malakand and northeastern Afghanistan. Which lasted from 800 BC to the 11th century AD. Gandhara is also called Peru Pamis. The capitals of Gandhara changed from time to time. Gandhara remained the valley of the Kabul River. Gandhara's old name was Janapada. And its founder was Gandhara, the son of Arudha. Who was the brother of Lord Rama and a resident of Kosala. And the Vedi Aryan tribe of India belonged to Droha, his two sons were Taksha Sheila (Taksila) and Pushkaravati. In the parade of Mahabharata, Swala was the king of Gandhara. After that, his son Sakuni became the king. In 600-800 BC, the Koro Pankala dynasty ruled here. Reference to the roots of Pashtuns by Jamil Yousafzai. The present name of Peshawar has been popular since the time of Mughal King Akbar (1605-1556), as trade caravans from Afghanistan and Central Asia came here, it was a major center of trade. Peshawar was also called Bagram. In his travelogue, the Chinese tourist Fahian called Peshawar polosha (po lu sha). Hyung Sang remembers him in his memoirs as Poloshapolo. A historian named Mas udi has called it Parshor. In Veda Diumala, Peshawar and its environs were called Pashkalavati, which is derived from Pashkal, the son of India, and means the city of lotus flowers. Greek, Parthian, Hindi Parthian, Iranian and Kushan rulers ruled here. It could be made better... Peshawar is an ancient city... it must have more to offer. The current exhibits are Buddhas, some from the British Raj, Quran scripture, etc. The have some QR code to explain the history but no guidance is provided at the entrance. There is no cafe or tuck shop. They may have an elevator but I did not see one. Overall an below average place to visit for the sake of it... it could be made much much better. KPK and Peshawar has rich history and lots more to offer.

Peshawar Museum is housed in a beautiful old building. Entry fee is nominal 5/10 rupees but if you want to take pictures inside Museum, you will need to pay 300 Pkr. They have good collection of Gandhara civilization statues and artifects. All the ground floor is dedicated to Gandhara Art. First floor has some historical pictures related to Pakistan Movement and later period. A good collection of vintage guns and some more cultural artifects. Museum is seriously lacks diversification. In one room there was posters of Iran, commercial posters, not work of art. Govt and private sponsors must donate objects and other museums may lend their archives on rotation basis to this Museum so that it can attract people of all ages and interests.

Peshawar Museum building was established in 1890 as Victoria Hall in the memory of Queen Victoria (longest tenure as Queen 1837-1901). The two-story building was built in a syncretic architectural style consisting of British, Hindu, Buddhist and Mughal Islamic styles. After the formation of NWFP province in 1901 Queen Victoria Hall which was then used as Night Club converted into Peshawar Museum in 1907. Peshawar Museum has one of the largest and most extensive collections of Gandhara art of the Buddhist period and is considered to be one of the biggest collections of Buddhist objects in the world. The museum also contains the largest collection on Gautama Buddha. Buddhist stone sculptures, terracotta figurines, and other Buddhist objects. The display of Gandhara art in the main hall includes Buddha's life stories, miracles, worship of symbols, relic caskets, and individual standing Buddha sculptures. The ethnological objects of that period are also exhibited in the museum. The current collection has almost 14,000 items based on Gandhara, Greco-Buddhist, Kushan, Parthian, and Indo-Scythian life. Examples include art, sculptures, coins, manuscripts, statues, ancient books, early versions of the Quran, weapons, dresses, jewelry, Kalash effigies, inscriptions, paintings of the Mughal and later periods, household materials and pottery, as well as local and Persian handicrafts.

Peshawar museum had some fascinating artifacts. The two downsides were that the back history of each artifact wasn't explained. It told you what it was but not how they were acquired. The second point was there was no restaurant and the washrooms were horrifically disgustingly dirty.
