The highlight of this temple is the giant golden 150 feet long reclining Buddha. The surroundings of the temple have a few pagodas and Wat Pho is just within walking distance (approximately a 10-minute walk) from the Grand Palace. Wat Pho is now a center for traditional massage and medicine but was the first public university in Thailand to focus on religion and literature back then. Other than the reclining Buddha and pagodas, there is nothing much to explore in this temple. It is advisable for visitors to strictly follow the dress code for any temple in Thailand including Wat Pho. Women must wear skirts or pants extending at least to the knee and strictly not wear a top that reveals bare shoulders.

We went on a Saturday morning before noon. It's 200 baht per person. Our 8 year old got in for free. You must have your shoulders and knees covered, especially if you are female. My daughter and I always brought our loose fitting pants to pull on over our shorts for these types of occasions, however, you can borrow coverings at the entrance for free. At the entrance of the reclining Buddha there are bags to place your sandals in or shoes in and carry with you. The day we went was very crowded and busy and there was a line to get into the viewing area of the reclining Buddha. Remember that it can be very hot and humid as well. I know we all expect this, but it was particularly hot that day. Everyone was taking photos by the reclining Buddha and everyone was soaking wet with sweat. It might be a good thing to prepare your children for. The other temples and Buddha structures and the statues around the area are really beautiful. Definitely worth a walk around. My kids are ages 15, 13, 11, and 8 and they lasted about an hour walking around and looking at everything. I think that's probably the maximum amount of time in the heat that you would want to plan for a visit at Wat Phra.

Wat Pho is beautifully built and exquisitely show cases the culture of Buddhism. Entrance fee is 600 Baht for foreigners and the last time for entry is 6pm. The place has some amazing color and symmetry and the statue of Buddha are intensely captivating. We were lucky to visit in an amazing weather with rain fall. Got stuck here since it started raining like crazy but overall a very amazing experience. Must go!

This temple, in contrast to the bustling crowds at Wat Arun or The Grand Palace, offers a serene experience with plenty to explore. Personally, I found great enjoyment in my visit here. The Reclining Buddha’s immense size makes it a challenge to capture the entire statue in a single photo. You can also spend 20 baht to get a cup of coins, and then putting coins into a queue of bowls. The temple's layout is impressive, featuring four sets of towers positioned in different directions, each comprising four beautifully designed towers. Navigating through these architectural wonders is a visual treat. Be prepared for a brief wait to enter the main prayer room as there is usually a queue outside. However, the experience inside is worth the wait. To keep visitors hydrated, there's a convenient free water fountain on the premises. Overall, this temple provides a quieter yet enriching alternative, with its unique attractions and thoughtful amenities making it a delightful stop on your itinerary.

A wonderful temple. Thailand's cultural heritage is as always fascinating and awe-inspiring. The territory of the temple is quite large, it will probably take about one and a half hours to appreciate all the sights. I liked the mosaic structures in the courtyard of the temple and the interior painting of the temples and the variety of statues the most. Well, of course, the statue of the reclining Buddha looks very cool, as well as the painting on his feet. The entrance ticket costs 200 baht, also with the entrance ticket you can get a free bottle of water from the machine.

The temple is first on the list of six temples in Thailand classed as the highest grade of the first-class royal temples. It is associated with King Rama I who rebuilt the temple complex on an earlier temple site. It became his main temple and is where some of his ashes are enshrined. The temple was later expanded and extensively renovated by Rama III. The temple complex houses the largest collection of Buddha images in Thailand, including a 46 m long reclining Buddha. The temple is considered the earliest centre for public education in Thailand, and the marble illustrations and inscriptions placed in the temple for public instructions has been recognised by UNESCO in its Memory of the World Programme. It houses a school of Thai medicine, and is also known as the birthplace of traditional Thai massage which is still taught and practiced at the temple....

A safe, religious and wonderful environment amidst the crowded passages around. Wat Pho is a very energetic, historical place and the presence of Buddhists in this place has made it a special place for foreign tourists. This is a spiritual space, but full of color. When I was here for photography, I was very surprised by the cleanliness and beauty of all the structures in this place. If you are going to Bangkok as an active tourist, I suggest you go to this lovely place

One my favourite temples in Bangkok. The campus is really big and has a lot to offer besides the main statue of reclining Buddha. You can get to know about Thai history, past kings, chedis etc. Everything is explained really well and you can understand a lot of things. This place is also supposed to be the origin place of Thai massage in current form.

A Canadian Review: 200 THB to enter. Enormous reclining Buddha. Similar to the one in the background of the Sagat level in Street Fighter 2 but it's gold. You can put the coins in the urns for good luck as seen on The Amazing Race. Cold bottle of water upon entry! Very large temple grounds. You can easily spend a couple hours here. It's the second most touristy temple after the Emerald Buddha. Highly recommend!

The Reclining Buddha is huge and beautiful to look at. Entry costs 200 baht for foreigners. Before entering the temple there is a cart with bags to store own shoes before entering the temple itself. Great idea. We were lucky that it wasn't crowded on the day we have visited. We didn't have to spend much time waiting at certain places to take good pictures of the Buddha Statue. It is really impressive. The whole area is quite big and there are lots of things to explore. It is definitely a must see in Bangkok.

This temple is famous for its Reclining Buddha and located near Grand palace so that you may make plan to visit altogether in a same day. Reclining Buddha is so big that we cannot see it at once and have to see it part by part. There are some spaces inside to view the part of it and you have to make a queue and wait until enjoying or taking pictures of it. I think building for this huge Buddha is so small that it is really crowded (hot as well). Along with the size of this sculpture, it is also quite unique to enjoy the impressive patterns in his soles. Worth a visit if you visit Grand palace or place near this temple.

The vibe is extremely positive here and it’s a must visit place as this is one of the tourist attraction. This place is maintained well and is neat. There’s a separate place to offer prayers and to burn incense sticks. Burn incense sticks only in the dedicated area allotted. If you are buying a small Lord Buddha statue, do not place it down as this is considered disrespectful and please maintain dress code here as you will be asked to otherwise no entry into the temple. If wearing clothing which has Buddha print on it then the entry into the temple is barred. Please dress appropriately.

How gorgeous this place could be!!!! It’s quite nice place to roam in Bangkok city. I recommend to take the bus to go there, because you will touch the Bangkok city’s ambience. Moreover, in every 2 years (during October to January), the Bangkok Art Biennale fair is held. It will Let you admire unseen novel arts from famous Thai artists and other countries.

We tried to access the Wat Pho twice 😀 the first time taxi driver drove us to the side entrance, where all the tuk tuk ppl were standing. They told us it is closed and they will drive us on tuk tuk around city for 40 bts. So we went with they, we visited another budha temple and they went to shop with tailored suits and shirts, my husband ordered 3 shirts, payed 6000 bts and it was delived the next day. Then we went to Wat pho the next day, the tuk tuk deivers AGAIN try to persuade us to take a ride, but we walked around the temple to finally find a right entrance. 🙈 be aware somethimes what thai ppl tell tourits its far from the truth.

This temple is a must-see on your visit to Bangkok. It was about 200 baht ($6 USD) per person to get in and it surprisingly wasn’t very crowded on a Saturday. There’s a massive golden Buddha statue in a reclining pose that takes up an entire building. There are also a bunch of other buildings that have art pieces, other golden Buddha statues, and a brief history of the scholarly purpose of the complex and the origins of Thai massage. There’s also a small building where you can get a massage but the wait was almost an hour so I skipped it since there are many more places all around Bangkok where you can get a very good massage for a great price.

The Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho is an amazing sight. The figure is 46m long and 15m high, making it the largest reclining Buddha in Thailand. It symbolizes the moment when Buddha entered Nirvana, marking the culmination of all reincarnations.🤩✨All over the temple complex you will see the The 99 Pagodas and numerous Buddhas everywhere. The temple complex is massive so make sure that you don’t miss any buildings or landmarks. Very unforgettable experience for me.

The most famous temple in Bangkok. Known for it's beautiful architecture, well manicured grounds, and the gigantic reclining Buddha. Pay special attention to the bottoms of the reclining Buddha's feet, as they are covered in thousands of embedded mother of pearl.

Get a guide! We rarely bother with guides but we knew very little about Buddhism and Thai temples in general so we opted for one of the state guides inside the entrance. We had a very pleasant 1.5 hour tour with a really friendly, entertaining and knowledgeable guy. He had something close to 3 decades of experience of the temple so was able to share some really interesting facts and stories. We would never have appreciated the nuances of the site without his assistance. He also tailored the tour to both of us by enquiring about our year and day of birth so he could show us which 'Buddhas' represented each of us. The guides have also had a tough experience with COVID and it's clear that they have considerable passion for what they do. As far as highlights go, they were seeing one of the head monks lead a service and then visiting the giant Buddha's, especially the resting/reclining Buddha. A wonderful way to spend a couple of hours!

Everyone visiting this place knows it for the huge Reclining Buddha which occupies the whole of one building, (Phra Budda Saiyas). Whilst this is undoubtedly the "star attraction" there is so much more to this site, including the beautiful "ceramic decorated" Cheddi (Suan Misakawan) and the magnificent Ordination Hall (Phra Ubosot). When I visited the Ordination Hall, a line of seated monks were chanting to an audience of people in prayer. Entry ticket costs 200 Baht and you get given a small bottle (350ml) of chilled water, very welcome when walking this large site in the heat. Note, around 30 meters to the right of the entrance is a free water station where you can refill your bottle. There is also a massage centre on the West side of the site with both Thai & Foot massage costing 420 Baht for an hour. Finally, don't miss the Nuad Thai Museum over on the East side, UNESCO status in 2019 dedicated to "The intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity", it deals with things like the philosophy behind Thai massage and health treatments.

Visit Wat Pho during the Great Buddha Night is amazing. The ceremony is open to the public until 20h30. The location is fascinating with the colour of the pottery and the ceramic decoration under the best lighting. This place show the influence from multiple culture in Thai art such as Hindu, Indian, Chinese, European and Persian. It has a really beautiful Thai garden style and traditional bending tree, decorate around the area.

Definitely worth visiting. The reclining buddha and the wider temple complex are only around 200 baht per person (with a complimentary bottle of water) to see. Paid 20 baht for a bowl of coins. I have placed each into long row of metal bowls to represent giving alms and for good luck. The sheer massive size of the reclining Buddha is quite impressive, not to mention how beautiful the image is, adorned in gold paint and gold leaf and an impressive foot print. A must see in Bangkok, try to come early morning to avoid the groups & prickling sun.

Thailand has some of the world's best temples. This one in Bangkok is one of the best with lying Buddha as a key highlight. The architecture is super intricate and has numerous forms of Buddha across the massive temples. You need to have your body covered properly and hence dress appropriately.

Took boat across the river, directly to this temple complex. Of course ladies had to dress respectfully but shawls were available for free. Famous for the golden Buddha lying down. But there is so much more to see. Loved all the buildings and statues. If you're in Bangkok I would highly recommend a trip here.

This is a buddhist temple that has a huge reclining Buddha statue. Make sure you dress properly. The entrance ticket is THB 200. Before you enter the temple, the officer will bring you a bag to keep your shoes/sandals. You can make donation to in the entrance of the temple. The officer will give you some coins and you can put the coin one by one to the bowl around the statue and get the Buddha wise quote in the end.

Wat Pho is a stunning temple located in the heart of Bangkok. This temple is one of the oldest and largest temples in the city, and it is famous for its giant reclining Buddha statue, which measures 46 meters long and 15 meters high. Aside from the impressive Buddha statue, Wat Pho is also home to many other beautiful structures and artworks. The temple features intricate murals, ornate carvings, and stunning architecture that will leave you in awe. Visitors can also enjoy traditional Thai massage at the temple's massage school, which is considered one of the best in the country. Overall, Wat Pho is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Bangkok. Its rich history, stunning architecture, and cultural significance make it a true gem of the city.

Beautiful temple. I went at 4pm and the tourist hours are until 6pm, but luckily the day I went, 2/3/24 (Saturday), there was a service from 6pm to 8:10pm so I got to watch it. I don't know if it's usually every week. Someone like the abbot came out and went in for a while. There seemed to be quite a few people who came to see him. There were pictures on the wall with the Pope, Obama, etc. The worship service was different from Korea. There was a dragon dance in the middle of the service. After the lively chanting, we moved to the Wabuddha Hall and recited sutras for a while. It didn't end until after 8 o'clock. It was the most meaningful experience of my 4 days and 6 nights in Bangkok.

I am amazed by this Buddha statue. When I came to Thailand, visiting this temple is the same as visiting a place of worship, tolerance is a lesson! You have to take your shoes off and you can pray with the rituals that have been provided, even if you pray for the sake of goodness, because all religions teach goodness.

An interesting temple area with multiple buildings you can visit. A visit for a few hours for the thorough visitors. No food is sold inside (at least not something I noticed). A guide can be booked on site for 500 baht. The different buildings show Buddha statues obviously, multiple yoga poses statues spread all over the place, Chinese statues, mini museums presenting the previous visits of other religions figures, massage history, large religious structures and more.

The times I was here, sun was at peak and absolutely hot. Going inside the Reclining Buddha temple was a very nice offset to it, very cool and breezy.. Entrance is 200 Baht for foreigner and free for local (ID isn't asked, so if you look a bit like Thai you could pass for free, perhaps). There are lots of statues doing somewhat of Yoga poses, pretty challenging if one would try all of them!

I was amazed by the size of the Reclining Buddha and the sophisticatedly decorated Buddhist monuments. People interested in architecture and history would definitely love this place! The visitors should cover their bodies and can borrow a skirt at the temple ticket center. They also need to take off their shoes when going inside the buildings, which is not at all annoying. Everything was a great experience.

Today, I had the privilege of visiting Wat Phra Complex in Bangkok, and it was an experience I will cherish forever. This stunning temple complex exudes serenity, offering a peaceful retreat from the bustling city life. The highlight of my visit was the exquisite Buddha statue, which was not only gorgeous but also radiated a sense of calm and spirituality. Wat Phra is known for its rich historical significance and is a testament to Thailand's architectural and cultural heritage. The intricate designs and artistry evident in every structure within the complex are breathtaking. The temple's tranquil ambiance provides a perfect backdrop for reflection and appreciation of the beauty surrounding it. This place is a true gem in Bangkok and a must-see for anyone seeking a blend of spiritual tranquility and architectural beauty.

One of the wonderful Buddhist temple in Thailand. The huge lying statue of Lord Buddha is the main attraction in this temple. The paintings & architecture of the temple are simply great. The temple premises are beautiful with a garden & photogenic. The place is well maintained and a very nice attraction. You can spend around an hour leisurely. Preferably evenings are good time to visit. Mornings are also fine, but not a good idea on hot sunny day. As I observed this comes mostly around mid of the day in travel packages based on it's location/guide.

The capital statue of the lying Buddha. It's worth seeing if only for this reason. Vast temple complex. Sightseeing time 1-2 hours. Beautiful decorations, amazing sculptures, every inch splendor. Purely. Tuk-tuk parking outside. From here you will get everywhere. Very close to the crossing to the other side of the river.

Wat Pho, site of the reclining Buddha. Really worth a visit, the golden Buddha is massive and really hard to photograph for this reason. The site itself gets really busy and it gets really baking hot in the summer months so suggest arriving early to miss the scoring heat and the crowds. Once inside you can walk round the buddha which is under shade. Breathtakingly beautiful and really worth a visit. You can't really get a sense of the scale of the statue from photos, you need to see it for yourself. Its 46meters long. wow!!!!

Footwear is allowed in the vicinity.

This is an incredibly beautiful site and the reclining Buddha is incredibly impressive in person. This location is wonderful but be prepared for huge tourist crowds. If you are hoping to get pictures, I would recommend going early as the crowds can make it challenging to get good pictures, as the day goes on. As well, please remember that a dress code is enforced, as women must wear skirts covering their knees and men must wear long pants (no jeans). All visitors must also have their shoulders covered.

Definitely something to visit/do while in Bangkok. Lots to see in 2 hours, there is a small place to buy water& souvenirs. As a woman, if you don't wear appropriate clothing (this includes shorts, short skirt, tank tops), you are provided with covering apparel for free, which I found very nice as you're usually either declined or you need to buy something to cover yourself. Entrance fee was 200 baht per person

Wat Pho is one of the famous temple to visit in Bangkok, it's famous for their big reclining Buddha. To enjoy Wat Pho, tourists need to pay the entrance ticket for 200 THB. As usual, I totally loves their beautiful architecture and design. However, since it's one of the popular tourists destinations in Bangkok, it will be really hard to get public transportation back and it also gonna takes time. Carefully planned your visit time if you planning to go to another destination. Have fun 😊.

Enchanting in the glow of the setting sun, this temple offers a serene ambiance with minimal traffic disturbances. Ensure some extra time in your visit to explore the adjacent temple across the river, closing at 6pm. For ladies entering, covering shoulders is required to access the reclining Buddha and prayer room. Shawls are available at entrances for borrowing. Immerse yourself in the breathtaking architecture of this pristine temple, where cleanliness reigns, and the foreigner's entry fee is a modest 200 baht. Surrounded by lush greenery, plan at least 2 hours for a thorough exploration. Intriguing details about the temple's architecture are displayed inside. The reclining Buddha, a marvel, beckons exploration, and guides are available for an enriched experience. Conveniently located near the grand palace, it provides a glimpse into Buddhist culture. No words can adequately capture the beauty and meticulous upkeep of this temple. Nestled in 60 acres, including the royal palace, the area boasts intricate architecture and numerous Buddha statues dating back to the 1800s. Don't miss the quiet weekdays for a more contemplative visit before it gets busier. The proximity to the river allows a budget-friendly ferry ride (5 baht) to Wat Arun. The 200 baht entry fee (for foreigners) is a small price for an enriching experience, with the Sanam Chai MRT station a mere 2-minute walk away.

Really pretty temple especially near sunset and it felt really tranquil too, very low traffic noises. However try to leave some extra time so that you can visit the other temple across the river as both close at 6pm. Ladies can enter the vicinity but if you wanna see the giant reclining Buddha or the prayer room you have to have a cover for your shoulders, there are some shawls that you can borrow at these entrances for free and make sure to return it when you’re done.
