"Temple is closed" is a SCAM! "Helpful" people around the temple will say the temple is closed or will open later are scams. Just smile, nod and keep walking. They work in groups and others including tuk tuk drivers may agree that it is closed. If they are not in uniform, don't believe anyone. Only believe the ticket office or someone in uniform (don't trust something like a badge or other official looking paraphernalia). The buddha is huge and very nice. It is a nice relaxing space and we had the place to ourselves. This was when Thailand was re-opening after Covid-19 in May 2022 and therefore may be a luxury that may not be normal.

Wat Po - Temple of the Reclining Buddha is Bangkok’s oldest and largest temple complex. It serves as the home of the massive reclining Buddha. The size of which must be experienced in person as it is simply breathtaking. The amazing feeling of taking in the sight of the enormous golden figure of the enlightened one cannot be explained with words and even more rarely captured in photos due to its massive size.

Must visit iconic wat (temple) if you are in Bangkok. Very beautiful and peaceful place. Especially nowadays very less crowd. The place has a special aura and charm. Respect local customs, be dressed in respectful way and immerse in the experience like a khun Thai.

Now with the pandemic this site is completely empty during the week and it's much more better than before, it's not crowded. It's nice to walk in peace and you can take pictures without people. The price for non-thai is 200baht with 1 small bottle of water included. If you want a guide you can find at the entrance, there is always someone waiting for customers.

One of the main attraction of the city. It's fairly crowded. You can reach here by road or metro. Holy place where you can learn about the culture here.

One of our highlights in our Bangkok trip is the reclining Buddha. As expected a lot of tourists are here. Entrance fee is 200 baht per person. I hope Buddha doesn’t get mad when there are many tourists disturbing his rest 😂🙈

Beware of scammers who tell you the temple is closed. These scammers want you to use the TikTok or other taxis were they get a commission to take you to some other place. Just note that the side entrances are closed so just walk around to find the main entrance that’s open. I’ve posted the picture of the guy below - real scammer that gives Thailand a bad name.

Awe inspiring idol of Buddha in reclining position, similar to reclining Vishnu idols in India. This is a temple of faith for millions around the world. Beautiful art and architecture in district Thai style

Must see place in Bangkok. Although best is to come early to avoid crowds and "feel" the atmosphere. It's worth to take a local guide. Lot of history and lot of interesting facts about this special religion.

A large temple complex, featuring a giant reclining Buddha. They have done a great job curating the history of the various points of interest, and The Reclining Buddha doesn't disappoint. Mostly I was just so impressed with the detail that the creators have put into everything - so pretty.

One of the must visit place at Bangkok is Wat pho. It's a temple of beautiful Buddha in a reclining position. It's hard to take the picture of the whole statue. It's golden color is very impressive as like the temple itself. This temple is historic. Often crowded, but can be avoided in the early hours of the day. The atmosphere is very calm and blissful. A very tidy place. It's worth visiting.

Don't miss to visit the Reclining Buddha while you're in Bangkok. A beautiful place to spend easily 1-2 hours and get to know more about the fascinating place and its culture. The place itself is very clean and well maintained. There's also a spot to get fresh water. However, try to avoid the early afternoon sun since there are only a few places that shadows.

Its a very beautiful statue of Buddha and a must see if you are doing the touristic round in Bangkok. Make use you are wearing knee covered pants/skirts otherwise you are not aloud in. If you dont have them there are plenty of shops/street vendors willing to sell. Dont pay more than 150 baht (you can get one between 100-150 baht). The only thing that I wish they improved is the building itself. Its very cramped and the pillars of the building are blocking the view of the buddha. Buddha is simply too big for the building. Entrance for Thai 0 baht, foreigners 200 baht. Bit excessive.

Tickets are 200 Baht per adult, long pants are not required, and the room of the Buddha is not air conditioned. A busy tourist attraction without much explanation on the significance of the Buddha itself. Impressive nonetheless, the business of the room made it less enjoyable

The Reclining Buddha The area is Very big , you can see many things there and everything is so cool 😎 you will enjoy this temple for sure The entrance Cost 200baht and if you go early morning after you can go to see also grand palace its close on this temple :) Wat Pho, is one of the six temples in Thailand that are of the highest grade of first class Royal temples. Wat Pho serves as home to the massive 46-meter long reclining Buddha image, the size of which must be experienced in person as it is simply breathtaking. The amazing feeling of taking in the sight of the enormous golden figure of the ‘enlightened one’ cannot be explained with words, and even more rarely captured in photos due to its massive size. Wat Pho temple complex also boasts the largest collection of Buddha images in Thailand and maintains the title as the country’s earliest center for public education, specializing in religion, science and literature. Most of the Buddha images on display were brought to Wat Pho, by order of King Rama I, from abandoned temples in Ayutthaya and Sukhothai.

This is my 2nd visit to this place. Most popular touristy place, opposite of Wat arun, you can come here via water taxi, they don’t allow short dresses and shorts and sleeveless tops as it is a temple. Expect for a long queue and very hot weather in Bangkok make sure to bring water and portable fan with you😂theres a lot of temples to visit within the area to maximize your entrance fees so wear your comfy shoes👌

It's just simply awesome, stunning in every way, but I'm biased, I have a love for all types of Buddha and there is such a wide variety that no two are the same, from cambodia to myanmar and now Thailand they are all as equally as impressive

I went there with Mom and was surprised. The Reclining Buddha was very big and beautiful. It was worth going there to pay respect to the Buddha.

Most beautiful Buddha statue I have ever seen in my life. You just enter into the place and you will be amazed to see the statue itself. Very vast area to walk around. It cost 200 bhat per person. I have covered most of the area but it takes a day to completely cover The Grand Palace and The Reclining Buddha. Loved it.

The Reclining Buddha is a representation of Buddha, just before he passed into the afterlife, lying on his side, with a calm and content expression. The Temple of the Reclining Buddha - (Wat Pho), is an 80,000 sqm2. Buddhist temple, ; It existed before Bangkok was founded as the capital by King Rama I in 1782.

The statue is around 46 meters long and covered in gold leaf, making it a sight to behold. Wat Pho is not only known for its impressive statue but also for being one of the oldest and largest temples in Bangkok. It's a must-visit destination for its stunning architecture, peaceful atmosphere, and traditional Thai massage school. If you're interested in exploring the beauty of Buddhist temples in Bangkok, Wat Pho is definitely worth a visit! 🏯🙏

Love the great Laying Buddah. He is so relaxed and peaceful. Thank you Rama III. Even hot outside, it is nice cool inside. See the serenity and detail. Do the 20 Bhat donations at the behind Laying Buddah for good luck into the cups. Also write a nice wish behind the Buddah Wat.

its a place with three main temple which have Buddha in sitting, standing and sleeping position. its a quite big temple and so many exit. we got lost there.

Beautiful enormous golden sleeping Buddha was the main attraction. Statue was hundred & fifty feet long, even feet were 16 feet long & 10 feet wide. Buddha was lying with head on his right arm, the posture of Nirvana hence for Buddhist it was the holy site. A lot of other Buddha statues & temples were around. As being Hindu we felt nice to witness worshiping & preservation of old fig tree. A good place to visit.

Visit the reclining Buddha here and endure stunning wall paintings and delicate decorations on the pagoda. Also worth coming at night time as well. It gives you a different vibe day vs night.

It’s even more majestic than the photos suggested. The Wat Pho complex is accessible by car or MRT Sanam Chai (exit 1). It is very nice to visit in the morning as it is not too busy and can feel the serenity of the place. The ticket costs 200THB per person (incl. free water). Also remember to wear appropriate attire, or you may need to use fabrics provided at the ticket booth.
